The Storm Has Passed

We got about 12 inches this storm. But the difference is this was very heavy and the wind was fierce.
And the trees fell and the power poles broke, and the wires tangled and it was a MESS. We lost power for about 16 hrs but our generator did its job and it wasn't bad at all. My sweet friend lost her power for 4 days!!! No generator sadly. There were thousands without power at one point.

I kept busy between stitching...

And eating cookies made from chopped chocolate Easter bunnies.

Yes I am an expert at puttering.
Today I took a ride to the beach.
The skies turned blue and while windy it was so nice to smell the salt air.
The winter storms have caused such damage at the beach. It was so sad to see.
****
Tomorrow I am starting my 3 day rug school. And I will have my dear friends staying at my house,so much fun.
If you are going to see the eclipse tomorrow please be sure you have the proper glasses.
Have a great week!

We also had a huge snowstorm, but luckily the wind didn't blow and we didn't lose power. It sounds like you basically did the same things I did baking and sewing. Hope it warms up soon.

wow your weather sounds horrible.
I can relate probably around 15 years ago or a bit later when we retired to Missouri we had a horrible ice storm and since we lived so rural we had no power for 19 days. most all of the electric poles snapped in that county. it was like camping out in the house. we kept warm with our two wood stoves as at that time we chose not to hook up the central gas heat. my wolf stove was an old one so didn't need electric to ignite the gas stove.
we have had horrible strong winds here too for days-going on a couple weeks now, yesterday finally calmer the lake is a mess with all the debris in the lake and is still brown after several days.
glad you made it through safely!! enjoy your rug school sounds fun hugs from the lake

That sounds severe, lucky to have a generator. Here our storms have been rain, also bringing down trees, but no loss of power.

Good the storm didn't put you out of power for long. I fear what it would be like if a foreign enemy destroyed our power grid. They already produce most household products, medical supplies and medicines, plus produces most rare earth minerals.
On a lighter note, looking forward to what everyone hooks at camp.

Your generator certainly was good to have and when we lived in VA we also had one but thankfully never had to use it. Your did get so much more snow than in Nashua, NH, and ours is just about gone (yeah) and we may have a couple of days this week with 60-degree temps. The wind has been still blustery which makes it seem colder. Enjoy the getaway with your friends and what a good use for Easter chocolate!

OH my goodness, what a storm! Your house looks nice and cozy. I love you can get to a beach, hope there wasn't too much damage. Take care.

That must have been quite a storm. Glad you are okay. I see more and more of these generators. You have such a lovely big porch! Your rug school sounds fun! Happy week to you :)

Your weather sounds really rough there. I am surprised you could even drive to the beach. I bet you have a lot of snow - due to the water.
Good thing you are a putter - you have so much to keep you busy!
Enjoy and have fun teaching!

We didn’t lose power thankfully! Glad you came through the storm so well!

Yikes...that was quite the storm! That heavy wet stuff with winds to boot is the worse. We got about 5" and horrible winds. The snow is gone now but the winds continue, relentless. You made much better use of your time than I did. Love your little bird embroidery - and those cookies look fabulous. We didn't have any of that kind of chocolate bunnies here but, if we did, I'd have gotten some - and there wouldn't be any left for cookies LOL. No eclipse watching here - i's so overcast and looks like more rain. I just wish the wind would stop. Funny, we bought our generator many years back after a freak ice storm over Christmas left us without power for 3 days. It was bitter cold and we couldn't pack up and go to a motel as we had pets. It was terrible. We finally invested in a generator because it seems that when the power goes out here, if it doesn't come back on within a minute, we are out for a long, long, time. But since we got the generator, we've not been out for days on end like before. Enjoy your hooking time with friends. Somehow, I know you will! ~Robin~

So sorry to hear that you had 12 inches of snow and those lost power. I was able to see the eclipse and it was so cool! The clouds stayed away until it was over. YAY. Those cookies looked so yummy. Have fun with your friend and hooking. Janice

I love that you used chopped Easter Bunny. That's cool. This past weekend I used chopped Aldi Cranberry Dark chocolate. Had it, wanted to give it a go. Wasn't bad though I like the normal dark morsels the best. Still, fun to try something new.

Four days without power for your friend. Been there. Glad you guys had a generator. When we move, we're getting one for sure.

Cheers and boogie boogie, Ivy.

We were in Buffalo for this snow storm so missed it. Most of it melted by the time we got home on Sunday evening. I don't think there was any power loss either. What a pain for your friend to be without for four days.

That was one heck of a storm. Thank goodness for your generator.
Enjoy your class and take lots of pictures to share ;-)

You've just described my worst nightmare. No generator and no power. No water..cold showers with bottled water. No AC. Sitting in the basement with battery powered fans. Can't remember what we ate but lost most of it after freezer and fridge had no power for a week. You'd think that would spurn us on to get a generator...nope! (rhymes with dope!) Anyway, I'm glad you're good now and hopefully that will be the last snow for the season. You have a good eclipse spot so I hope you got to experience it. It was amazing here! Have fun with your friend and rug hooking!

So glad you have a good generator. I am sure you are REALLY ready for spring now. The eclipse didn't really amount to much here in Utah. I couldn't find the eclipse glasses we bought when we saw the one that was almost 100% last fall. Besides, I was teaching when the eclipse was full, which was really only a partial out here in the West. I could tell that the sky was darkening, but I didn't pay much attention. I hope you got to see it, because seeing a full eclipse is pretty cool.

Wow that was some snowstorm - it may take some time to get the power lines up and working. At least here it always seems to be a slow process. Great idea to chop up chocolate for cookies! The eclipse here in Ohio was amazing- a treat to enjoy. Hope things settle in soon there.

Yes it was quite a storm. Our son in Maine just got power back last night, Monday. His went out almost as soon as the storm hit, so nearly 5 days. We lost it for 10 minutes and when it went back on boom, now I had to go buy a new coffee maker. Blew it out for some odd reason. We bought its own purge protector while there too! Need my coffee!

I hope the rug school went well and was lots of fun.
The end of snow storms for this season is much welcomed.
Happy Spring!

I'm late to the party but I'm so glad you had a generator and I hope it has warmed enough to have melted the most of it. How was rug school? We eagerly await your post!
