Full Moon Energy?

We had a beautiful moon. I wonder if that is where my energy comes from?

This is a full size feather tree. The ones I have are really feather trees but modern not the lovely old antiques. I love the candles I bought this year on the tree. They are remote control and battery operated.

This picture is at a weird angle this tree is not leaning. This is the first time in several years I have set this tree up.

It is filled with my treasured ornaments.

I have been collecting for years.

I love them all so much. The very best part is my daughter loves them also!

Well it's cookie time!

Turtles so easy the hardest part is unwrapping the rolos.

I tried 2 new to me cookie recipes. The cookies on the left stoll needs one side dipped in chocolate. Coconut almond. The cookies on the right are a gluten free gingerbread. They are good just not my favorites.
I have a couple more batches to make tomorrow for the drop off at the cookie walk for the nonprofit.
I will leave you with a picture from 9 years ago when we volunteered for the polar express.
Have a great rest of your week!

And Away We Go!!

Winter sunrise sigh....

We headed out to a little coffee shop that is in an old woolen mill. Such a lovely way to start Sunday.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. I took the bones and bits and pieces of vegetables and made stock. I froze it in ice cube trays so I can take a few when needed. An easy way to add flavor and save money.
In a previous post I told you a neighbor gave me a woolen blanket that she said was over 100 years old. Well I decided to make Christmas stocking from some of it. I made one for each of my sweet friends and one for my neighbor. Well they were a big hit!!! And they are done yahoo! And I used the sewing machine without swearing lol.

I started decorating and I am not done yet but getting closer. It is so nice to see my treasures again.

It has been several years since I have put them out.

bought some battery operated twinkle lights and I just love them.
The mantle is done and mushrooms are big this year. I bought these but I hope to felt some more.

I also bought this wool tree again I hope to make more.
One of my sweet feather trees.
☆☆☆
Bad weather coming in tonight they say rain but it is much to cold. I pray for snow and not ice.
I have 2 cookie walks to bake for this week and I hope to finish up decorating.
Have a wonderful week!

Charlie Brown's Teacher?

Sweet B made this when she was quite small. I love that she put glasses on him like she wears

I picked up the turkey last week thrifting he is old chalkware and was only 1.00. I also made some pomanders.
I haven't  made these in years. And they smell great!
We had a lot of warning about the up coming storm. My brother was coming from 6 hrs away. I contacted him to let him know about the snow. He just moved back from Mississippi and hasn't driven on snow in years.  Well no big deal he would still come Wed.  You guessed it he called to inform me it was snowy and slippery!!! My husband had an appointment for his truck. I thought we should drop the truck the night before. Nope and he couldn't get out of the driveway to get his truck there!!! So when I talk Do I sound like Charlie Brown's teacher?? I do think that sme lessons were learned.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thrifting With a Friend

The winter sunrises are starting to be beautiful!

I teamed up with my friend Cathy and we thrifted until we dropped lol. Starting with a pie bird and a tiny angel with a plaid runner all I will use in my Christmas baking and decorating.

A pair of vintage spun cotton snow people.
2.00 yes please!

I had been looking all over for mini cookie cutters no luck.
I walk into a thrift store and voila a brand-new unopened pack of them for 1.00!

I truly will not go into everything I found but this was the topping to it all. These new very large lanterns! I have Christmas plans for these when we have our parties. And believe it or not I also found a brand-new pair of coach driving loafers for my daughter! She was thrilled!

On Thursday husband and I decided to go out and about for the day. We headed to Vermont and King Arthur Flour Co. We had a lovely lunch and shopped a lot! I am all stocked up for holiday baking.

From there we decided to drive to Woodstock Vermont. It is the loveliest town; I love shopping their Main St. and just looking at the beautiful homes. They also have a Paul Rever bell there!

Ok 3 days of shopping thrifting and lunching and it is time to be home and finish decorating. The other thing my sweet thrifting friend and I did was go tramping through the mud and yuck for the elusive red berries we all love for our Christmas decorating. We filled the back of her Subaru, some for her, some for me, and some for her sister-in-law. If you purchase them, they are crazy expensive.
This cone is wood and grew on a tree somewhere. I purchased it at an antique store many years ago for 12.00 one of my Favorite purchases. I goes on my door for a lot of different holidays.

While digging out some Christmas decorations I found this Good House Keeping magazine 1970 I was 13.

I have laughed so much at this magazine. Some of it does not stand the test of time lol.
Wonderful men's gifts

And wonderful women's gifts. I especially like the door mat lol.
I am going to pass it on to my daughter as there are such fun things in there.

I will end here. As I have said before most every day there are 4 of us who message each other on a group chat. Well one of my sweet friends made bread and you guessed it we all ended up making bread in the next few days lol. This is the no knead recipe and I added a mix of Italian herbs. And I have to say pretty tasty.
I do want to touch on the New England brown bread. It is a recipe I looked up online it has rye flour, whole wheat flour, corn meal, and molasses and I put in raisins. I do not know if it is eaten outside of New England. My father's mother used it serve it to us and I loved it. It came in a can (you could buy it in the can), and I baked mine in a can.

Have a wonderful week!

To Early?

I made some gingerbread muffins from a new recipe, and it is not a keeper a bit to dry. But eatable we are having them with coffee in the morning.

I was gifted a very old woolen blanket. She estimates it is at least 100 years old. It is lovely but in tough shape. I have grand plans for this! More on that later. It is light weight enough to hook with.  I ran it through the washer and dryer, and it tightened up and is lovely and soft.

I foraged for some greens and made a bit of roping.

I am trying to get the outside decorated before the really cold weather comes. Tomorrow is supposed to be 50's very warm for us.

I set up my large tree today. This poor tree hasn't seen the light of day in several years. Just never had the energy when I worked. We had to get a fake tree because daughter was allergic to a real tree. (It took us a few years to figure out why she was sick every Christmas) And now I really don't mind.
This is also the first year I have put up the tree before Thanksgiving.
I want to host a few holiday parties, so I am getting in the mood early.
****
I went to the fiber group, there were only 3 of us but all of us were hooking. There were a couple of more that didn't come because they were sick. I will give it a few more tries to see if it is worth the trip for me.
Have a wonderful week!

Wonderful Rugs!

Today we had to drive north to meet our daughter and return her dog.
She and her family were able to get away with friends and we babysat the dog. As you can see, we have snow on the mountain tops.

I got up early took a walk and raked a bit then I have spent the afternoon making roping with the dried oranges and apples.
I wrapped some twinkle lights round them after and voila pretty cute!

l
I also tried making this little lantern. It is a bit wonky but sweet all the same I may try to make another one.
****
Ok are you ready? I went to the fairy tales rug show and what a show it was!!!

I did not get all the information on each rug but just click on them and enjoy!!!
And each rug was better than the last one. And this is just a sampling not every rug.

They are taken from old illustrations.

I hope you had a chance to enjoy them but if you ever get the chance to see them in person take, please go!

Thursday, I had my friend's thanksgiving there were about 14 of us that gathered, and the surprise was a visit from a very long-time friend who moved away and came back to join us.
I decided to make New England Brown Bread.

I was given the hint to use the crockpot with water in it and it worked great!!! and oh, my it was tasty and a big hit at the friends gathering.

Last night after I got home and relaxed from the past few days.
I was overwhelmed with the amazing blessings I have. And what a wonderful few days I have had.

Tuesday is the new to me fiber group I am looking forward to that.
And I am going to start decorating for Christmas. I promised a Christmas brunch at the friend's thanksgiving, and I want to deck the halls!!
Have a wonderful week!
