Take A Walk With Me...

This dirt road runs behind our property. It is a very sweet road and not traveled much this time of year.

It has been declared a scenic road, you only have to look around to know that.

A very sweet field that is filled with cattle in the summer.
When my daughter was little they went sledding in this field.

It is a beautiful winter day we haven't had enough of these this winter. It feels so good to get out and stretch my legs.

This was the front page of our Sunday paper,I love it! I love that modern science can not out predict the good old farmers almanac.

Because as any farmer will tell you that the almanac is most usually right! (yep in the bathroom)

Husband and I had something very weird happen last night.
We both had the same dream. Now not exactly but it had the same theme. Someone stealing our car. Our car is older and nothing that anyone would want to steal and not really something I ever think about.  So what do you think about this? What could it mean?

Seeing Red

This was a good week to use my crock pot. My mom gave me this when I got married and it is still a work horse. Pork roast with potatoes, onions, and carrots. It always does my heart good to come home to dinner and the house smelling delicious.

This time article was about cooking at home. I know we do not go
out any where near as much as we use to. It is cheaper and I believe that if families sat down to dinner a few times a week families would be stronger. Ok I am off my soap box :)

I had a few requests for my whoopie pie recipe. this is an old recipe I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I make them small and bake them about 5-6 minutes.
(click on the picture to make it bigger)

As I have mentioned before I am cleaning out my wool closet.
This is a pile of red skirts that will be taken apart. I am planning on posting bundles of wool for sale.

I am still working on my rug not sure I loving the big blue
flower but I am going to leave it until I finish and then make a decision.

It is snowing again! so should I hook the night away or....

Read the new book David got me for Valentines. I have a little old English woman living somewhere inside of me.( I sure hope it is Violet )
I have wanted this book for some time and I never buy new books. Last weekend husband was sick so no valentines gifts.
Today we went out to breakfast and hit the bookstore. Now because I have wanted this book for so long I don't want to hurry and read it.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Whoopie

Not snow...

Pulled out my favorite recipe for whoopie pies that I got out of the local paper where we lived the first year we were married. As you can see very well used.(and old)

Make sure I have all of the ingredients What no confectioners sugar! Off to the local little surefine grocery where you can get everything you need.
Including bird seed....

I was a stay at home mom when my daughter was little. when I picked her up at school she would smell my shirt to see if I had cooked any goodies while she was at school. and she usually guessed what I had baked.

a nice wrap in wax paper for quick lunch box packing.

And into the cookie jar. My daughter has the original cookie jar
that no one could sneak a cookie from with out getting caught. It is crystal so the tiniest ting and it would ring out in the kitchen telling on the goody thief such wonderful memories sighhhhhhh
 l
One left for the cook and so yummy and I wonder why my pants are getting tight???
More snow tonight but today was sunny and 30 the best day all winter! Stay warm everyone.

It's Not Snow Funny Anymore

While We do not have any where near the snow everyone else does. I feel it was just a correction year as we are always the ones who get the most. Not to say we do not have plenty of snow.

I have no idea why I think this is so funny but I do.
Maybe it is picturing Fred's bare feet going faster and faster.

We are in for a couple of more storms this week. I will have plenty of time to read your emails and comments on the snow;).
Stay warm.

Never Never Never Give Up.

Husband has a head cold. Now that man can go through all kinds of
medical issues but if he gets a cold he just can't handle it and becomes completely dependent on me. So it is lots of nice tea and good food.

I made some good for you muffins the recipe below.

and a big pot of beef stew. He is full and warm so I haven't heard from him in a bit. It must of worked;)

Yes we had another snow day at work this week, with lots of down time I took my needle punch with me. I have no idea what I am doing wrong but 4 stitches go in 2 come out, but I will never give up.
And yes there is more snow on the way for this weekend. :(

Last but not least I have been slowly working on my rug.
I have changed a couple of things to my taste.

Since Valentines is this weekend I will close with a love quote.

Hooked

A few more pictures from the hook in last week

These are purses and so sweet I have made a couple of purses in my time and always got compliment when I used them.

this piece was sculptured and just beautiful

Since I was home for the day I pulled out one of my large plastic
storage bins and took apart a few of the many many skirts I have.
I will have to live to be 200 to use up all the recycled wool I have.
Thinking I may sell some of them.

I have been hooking a little and I really like how it is coming along.

At the end of the summer this past year I brought in my rosemary plant.
Usually I can never winter them over but this year it seems very happy in this window it may be looking out on this and saying "I am so happy to be inside"

Yes more snow..

And more snow! we are in the middle of a two day snow storm that will end Tuesday leaving a foot plus behind. Because of the storm we didn't get to see Miss B today. Knowing the snow was coming after I went to a family baby shower I drove up to see them. It was so good to see her we fit a lot in in 2 hours. She reminded me she was four and I told her that she had grown to fast and there would no more growing for now. She got a sad look on her face and said "Gramie I want to go to school." Oh how I love that little Miss B!

I am patiently waiting for Downton Abbey husband and I are having a cup of tea getting ready!

Stay warm everyone!

Hooks, Hockey, and Hanging Around

Saturday I headed to Maine for a hook in.
Met up with Donna (husband's cousin) and had a really great day.
I am showing just a few of the rugs. These rugs were made using only t-shirts the colors were vibrant and I was told the rugs could be washed.

Doesn't this look like one proud chicken, great colors.

The colors in this rug are amazing! If you make the picture bigger you an see the wool used around the flowers such a great look.

And yes while we were there I actually hooked a bit.
There was a vendor there that was selling little wooden stools with a pattern and the wool. My friend and I just loved the look so much! When I got home husband said "let's go to an auction" so off we went and ....

Were I got the cutest little stool ever! So as you can see the top needs lots of help I am going to hook a piece to go on it.

This afternoon we took a ride over to the big lake to watch some
pond hockey. Huge tournament people come from all over to play.

The bob houses were there, I can not believe there was a lot of fishing going on but lots of fun.

And some bob houses are a mans castle. There were food vendors on the lake so some french fries and watching some of the action and it was time to head home.
It has been very cold and lots of wind even though we dressed warm and the sun was out we had had enough.

My latest magazine so I will see if there is some pattern in here that I can adapt for my stool and then hook on my rug a bit. while watching the football game.  I hate to say this but at 9pm I go to another tv and watch Downton Abbey I do have my priorities.

Another big storm on the way for tomorrow.
happy February!
