Can It Be?

That Christmas is over! but there is a special
4th birthday coming up....

There were more goodies eaten than I care to remember...

and Santa sightings all over the place...

Christmas crackers that held crowns and kazoos...

And lots and lots of Christmas presents..
(This was taken from a calender we received!)
Yesterday was the last of the Christmas parties but there is
one amazing little girl turning 4 very very soon!

It has been a laid back day of football and rug hooking.
Our weather has been very mild but I see the cold weather coming in from Canada. Hey, you Canadians keep your cold weather! (and you know who you are:)

The Christmas decorations will stay up until
after the New Year.
I wish all of my sweet blog friends a happy and healthy new year.
Filled with lots of belly laughs and great surprises.

The Sunday Before Christmas...

On the shortest day of the year...

Our tree was all decorated in baubles from the past..

And centerpieces pretty with sparkly snow....

Candle light flickering.....
Waiting for the big night..

From my house to yours....

May your Christmas be filled with friends and family.
Laughter and happy tears, for it all passes so quickly and on to the new year.

Up In The Mountains

Saturday bright and early we made the hour trip over the mountains to our Daughters...

The sun was shining for the first time in a very long time.
This mountain is blinding with the white snow and the sun shining so bright on it.

And this is the rocky top of Chocorua Mt. coming out of the
clouds.

This is from the window of the Santa train..

Where we saw Santa!

And husband surprised me with Boston Pop's tickets
that was completely amazing.

And there were cookies baked too.

My house looks like someone took it off the foundation shook it and put it back. So I need to get to what Miss B is doing decorating.
This little tree is in her room and she is completely in love with it.

I hope you are taking the time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season it only comes once a year.

A Weekend At The Beach

With amazing friends who have a beach house.
We headed to the beach for a few days. This is Nubble Light House all decked out for Christmas.(York Maine) You can see the tree in the window so cute.

The beach had a quiet beauty...

But very very cold and windy...

Then we were off to Kennebunk Maine...

To the Christmas prelude...

With lots and lots great decorations and Santa keeping watch..

This was at the Kennebunk inn, they were roasting chestnuts
and had outside fireplaces and fleece blankets to wrap in so
lovely and cozy...

And a tree lighting! You can see the lobster buoys decorating the branches. Sooo very Maine.
We are back in N.H. but wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas from Maine. We are in for wicked weather this week so everyone stay safe.

One Tired Elf

My ride home from work on Wed before Thanksgiving was
a bit slippery, the only good thing was I seemed to be the only person on the road so slow and easy I made it just fine.
We did not lose our power like a lot of people in this state.
So we felt very blessed.

I put up my little vintage paper houses.

I have a lot of little extras in this village that makes it
so fun to look at.

Saturday we went shopping ran home and then out to be elves for
two shows for the polar express. Being with kids when they think they are in the North Pole is an amazing experience. It is heart warming and so funny what they come out with.

And this is one tired elf :)

I had a long piece of linen so I drew up some mittens as you
can see this pattern is a work in progress. I am hooking with a
9 cut so it should go pretty fast.

I hope you holiday was a great one!

And Let The Season Begin

The is the worst picture as the light pole is very red and goes ok with the bow on the wreath.

Today I made beef stew and biscuits,we watched the patriots
win yet another yahoo.

Friday night we had Miss B over night for cookies and general fun
When we started she didn't want to get her hands dirty. So we ended up in a flour fight with lots and lots of giggles. We love having her so much!

No big plans for Thanksgiving which is fine as I have to work
Friday and we have fun plans for the following weekend.
Have a great week!

A Day Off

If it is going to keep doing this then I am not going to feel bad

Doing this...

yes a very old fashioned Christmas movie, my favorite kind.

I was also very productive a huge stack of stuff for the thrift and
and bag to the dump and in the middle of cleaning out drawers I find this that brought everything to a screaming halt.
It is from when my daughter was in kindergarten. I took the time
to frame it and hang it I love it! ( She is now a mom so it is extra special)

Ok back to work I made 5 woolly balls to fill some old wooden bowls I have.

I also started the wool (feather)tree. It is not hard just a lot of fussy work. I am sure I will love it when it's done.

We are going deeper into the freeze tonight. So the beast is keeping the oil man away for now.                                                                    I have women's night
tomorrow night and I am bringing my homemade bread. It is our little Thanksgiving together so always good food and good laughs.
Have a great night!

This Turkey Is Done

We had a dusting of snow on Friday which was beautiful but
the black ice was not! A little tricky driving to work.

I finished my turkey even though I had a stomach bug
for a couple of days and did no hooking at all. (and it's bound!)

He looks great on my butter churn coffee table. The color is awful
in this picture but trust me it looks cute.

I also made an apple pie and...

For those French Canadian's this English girl
can cook a great pork pie. I had never heard of it when I started
dating my husband and was sure it was awful. Well lots of years later and  with the help of his great aunt I have it! Now I need a nice mince pie.
that is what we had at the holidays made by my very English lineage Grandmother. Ok and homemade fruit cake that was very good (I swear)

Hope you are all warm and cozy the cold is here, the beast in the basement is happily keeping us warm as long as we throw in a log or two now and then.
Have a great week!
