Warm Weather

 Sunset on Siesta key Florida.
We have had the best weather!
80 degree days warm cooler evenings.

This beach has sand that is white quartz soft and sparkley.

We have 2 bunnies living near but they are quicker than I am so no picture. But this little critter visits now and then.

We are also enjoying the pool.
We also have a wonderful guest for a couple of days. A very long time friend who started out as my husband's student when he taught. So nice to spend time with him.
The weather forecast is wonderful so more fun in the sun!

WE made It!

We started out in Central NH for Siesta Key Florida. We drove a pick up truck down for a friend. We are flying home. The first day of our trip about 7 hours. Just quick stops for fuel and food. I had no idea about the trucking in this leg of the trip! All highway all trucks all the time! Exhausting! We both were amazed at the giant ware houses and huge truck stops! We lead a very sheltered life.  (this cab was being towed) our first stop Maryland. We grabbed a sandwich and fell into bed.

The second day we went through the blue ridge mts. But of course they were fogged in so not much to see. The trucking route thinned out a bit. So much construction! Georgia for miles and miles. Driving between barriers with trucks exhausting!can you tell still not fun lol. Stopped jut outside of Savana. St Patrick's day is huge there. Very festive feeling. Ordered a pizza fell into bed.

On to Florida! 75 the back ups for north were miles and miles. The same thing happened on 95 North. I felt bad for those going in that direction. And then on 75 we pick up a rock from a passing car yup a broken windshield ugg.

We made Siesta Key about 2:30 on the 3rd day. It was warm and lovely. And just what we needed. Friends met us with hugs and drinks ahhhh!

We are here for a couple of weeks (husband's glasses) great R and R! Driving is not for either of us I guess we have no adventure left in these bones. I will take the easy route. But we are both glad we had the opportunity to to it this way.
Have a wonderful week!

Another Day Another Snow Storm

It snowed for 24 hours we got only about 4 to 5 inches. But my fiber friends on the west side of the state 40 plus inches!!!! yikes!!!

I told you last post I was making the big purge from all the artificial sugars. I have discovered these and in recipes they are the best thing ever, Bonus! I have lost 2 lbs since Sunday just from getting rid of the crap.

These toes haven't seen the light of day since the last nice day last fall.
But they are all painted up and ready for an upcoming road trip.
Now I am not a big road trip person I think my father killed any joy in a road trip. We were 5 hours from my grandparents growing up. When it was time to visit it was ok pile in make sure you peed, and we have snacks there will be no stopping no getting out of this car until we are in your grandparent's driveway. There were 4 of us kids and a big lab who always came along. My father didn't mess around! And on the rare time we stopped it was at llbean's when all they sold were sporting goods lots and lots of fishing stuff, guns, and llbean boots (yes, I am that old)
This is a new adventure for us I will post up dates along the way. We should make our destination on the 3rd day. Taking our time but no big side trips.
We are blessed to have someone staying at the house and keeping an eye on things. Hopefully no more snow!
More updates to come.

A Spurt Of Energy

Day 8 from unknow virus and I finally have some energy.
I cleaned out the pantry in the kitchen.

I pulled out a couple of expired things, but the big purge was anything with erythritol or stevia I have been doing some research. Going on 2 years ago I lost 50 lbs. and have managed to keep it off except 5 lbs. Over the past year I have noticed I have started eating things I didn't normally eat, and I do think my mindset was well it is low carb why not. And then I see the research on especially erythritol major concerns with this. Causes blood clots and heart issues. It takes a very long time to leave your body. And trust me it is in most everything! Back to the basics.

Monday night into Wednesday morning we are expecting a nor'easter while I am ready for spring and prefer the snow in Jan and Feb these two are ready to go. My daughter and Sweet B!

She skied her first double black diamond Whoohoo!! There is more skiing next weekend for her with a friend, so snow makes her happy.

Back to the basics again. I had an all-natural kielbasa I had a great coupon for, and I bought some riced cauliflower added some veggies and a delicious stir-fry!

As most of you know the bookstore, I work at connects to an ice cream shop I get a lot of bananas that she has go a little to brown. It was time for banana bread I decided to make muffins instead with the batter. For my husband's I put in chocolate chips mine do not have any I don't like chocolate and banana I know crazy.

I also grew some sprouts it tastes so fresh and green in the winter.
We are getting ready for our big adventure more on that later.
Have a great week!

Well Hello!

So we got more snow on Saturday another 12inches. This is my poor porch and yes I am missing sitting on it. As you can see the snow is over the railing. I am so very sorry about the snow in California just how do you even deal with that??

I did finish one rug slowly but surely. I will start in on my witch very soon.

When I showed a picture of sweet B this rug was in the background.
It was the 3rd rug I hooked. No label (still not good with that) So if anyone knows who pattern this is let me know.

Remember this picture of my rug room? And someone wanted to know what was behind the chair.....

It is not pretty but it is my closet of bins of smaller pieces of wool.
And now you know everything lol.

I am going to take a break from hooking just a bit ok maybe longer. I have had this pattern for a few years, and it scares the bejeepers out of me just the list of fabric yikes. But I am brave I will soldier on.
For my very glamours job I get to go to the recycling center once a week. I stumbled on a stack of magazine!! Wo yes! I will read them, my daughter will read them, and then her close friend will read them, and she will pass them on. There is nothing like a shiny magazine and a steaming cup of tea! Right Kathy S?
Now before you think I dug them out of a dumpster think again they have a lovely bookcase you put your unwanted books and magazines on for others to take. Yes please!
After shoveling and eating dinner Saturday I felt very tired just out of sort. Well holy moly I was down for the count for 48 hours I was so sick and felt so beat up. The second day I knew I didn't have covid
but I truly thought I had the full flu so off to the doctor to hopefully get meds nope not the flu. Some very nasty virus. I never ran a fever, but I ached from my hair to my toenails. My poor husband did not know what to do He just kept saying" drink please drink". He was bringing me anything he thought I would drink. I just wanted to roll up in a quilt and die! I have not been that sick in a very long time. But I am better just tired I think I need an extra day home.

I cannot believe I would tell my mother I can't wait to be older.
She would shrug and said it's not as much fun as you think.
She was right but sometimes it is really fun!

A Stitch In Time..

Happy March!!!

Since Sunday we have gotten between 16 and 17 inches of snow.

My 5-mile drive into work this morning was beyond slick but I made it and starting Saturday night we are in for 8 to 14inches more!
Oh, March you can be so fickle.

On Sunday I roasted a chicken with potatoes, carrots, and onions.
and to top it off I made popovers. tonight, we had the last of it in a homemade chicken noodle soup so good if I do say so myself.

Ok since I have two large rugs to bind, I felt I could not start anything else until these were bound. And yes, I love big rugs, but I pay for it with lots of binding.

Ok onto the stitching challenge put on by my roommate, partner in crime and Cousin Donna. Visit Here to learn about the other stitchers who did the challenge too and see what they came up with.

The four of us all had the same scraps of fabric.

I tried to do a few stitches I knew and of course I was thinking spring.

I hooked a little butterfly did not come out very well but...

my bee is very sweet... get it my grand is called Sweet B (ugg sorry)
I am thinking of doing a larger stitching project instead of hooking another rug right away. Stay tuned.
Have a wonderful weekend and if the storms are headed your way stay safe and cozy.

A Wonderful Visit

We have been getting snow every few days again. And it has turned cold. Winter is not going out wimpy that is for sure.

We have had so many crows and it seems if I go anywhere, I see a crow. There were 3 in this tree and seeing three means an impending change yep there is a change coming.

We got a chance to see sweet B for an overnight. We always like to craft together, and we found these dancers that were easy to make, and we had all the supplies to make them. She painted their skirts with watercolors, and I fashioned the bodies. They are so sweet!

I texted a picture to my friends, and they suggested a mobile great idea so now they dance on the air!

She loves them and I sent her home with plenty of supplies to make more.

She read a few minutes before lights out and then I never heard another peep from her until after 9am. I think Gramie tired her out. But it could also be she had a friend over the night before lol.
We got light snow most of the day I went out to shovel the walkway and the back deck it is so light it is like shoveling feathers.
When you bring the shovel up to tip it out half of it flies off.
More snow coming tomorrow night.  No complaints I am very blessed with a warm home and great friends and family. I have more than I need.
Have a wonderful week!

Now Where Is My Needle????

Ok I am one messy creator. I did get an inspiration to get started, and I am jumping off from there. The finished piece will be shown next week, and I will post the others too.

We had a dusting of snow over night that made the drive into work extremely slick. But thankfully I made it in one piece. More snow coming in tonight and into most of the day tomorrow up to 12 inches. Winter is refusing to go out with a whimper.
I threw some ribs in the crockpot before I left for work, I just put a few seasonings on them and let it go all day. Since I had never cooked ribs that way before I had no idea what would happen, but wow were they good and I may go get another rack to put in the freezer while they are still on sale.
My aunt and uncle are getting better every day. They got the goodie box and it raised their spirits.  I am sure they will get to go on their vacation.
Have a great rest of your week and stay safe from any of the storms.
We are tucked in and ready!

A Stitching Challenge Out of My Wheelhouse

This morning I was up early and saw the sun rise.
And there was a red fox strolling through the back yard.
He did not have his skis, jacket, and pack but he was beautiful all the same.

My sweet aunt contacted me she and my uncle have covid. They are doing well but I felt bad and made them some cookies and added some other goodies to a box and mailed it off. They are supposed to leave for Aruba in a couple of weeks. So, I am praying it all goes well for them.

I got my book out on different stitches as my sweet friend Donna
sent 3 of us a challenge.

She sent us a package of bits and pieces of fabric.
We are to make something out of this. No real rules and just do your own thing. But I am not that creative, and I have not stitched all that much but oh well here I go!

I took a very long walk today. While not sunny it is nice. I have shown this brook many times and have walked by it hundreds of times and yet it still makes me stop and look and listen and marvel at it every time!

I finished this book this morning. It is historical fiction but is based on true life events. British women were dropped behind enemy lines in Paris to spy and report back. Some people focused on the things she got wrong like people using comforters on their beds. (Not used at that time) I focused on the story itself and found it a good informative read. I knew American women were spies, but I had no idea the British women were also. If you read this book, I would love to know your thoughts.
I am off to work on binding my rug and to try and figure out just what to do with this challenge.
