Mid-February News

All of a sudden winter decided to make a real showing.
We have had snow and snow showers for several days now. And the wind is blowing making temps very chilly.

We now have 4 eastern bluebirds coming to our feeder. They are rare here and such a treat to see.

Since husband and I have pretty much stayed home we have been working on our own projects. Didn't he do a great job on this?! It is to hold all his little parts and things for the trucks he builds. Yes he built it from scratch.

And I have been working on my Lady Liberty. She is coming along slow but sure.

I also made another loaf of bread yesterday to go with....

Soup! I made butternut and sweet potato soup. Not to brag but ohh it was good! and my neighbor stopped by and dropped off a quart of tomato bisque. She is a great cook so I am always happy to have her show up at my door with food in hand.

Our house is always pretty toasty so the forsythia bloomed in all it's glory! Makes me hopeful for spring.

This made me laugh I am not a trail guide but I am walking most days cold and snow be darn!

Sweet B's science fair project was great and we had some wonderful time with her and her parents. And the exciting thing is she is coming tomorrow for an overnight!!!
Have a wonderful week!

Sweet potato is a great idea in butternut squash soup. I will add it next time.

Enjoy time with you young sweetie!

We've had snow here too but in such little bits.
The soup I made yesterday was a beef barley soup. We had it for lunch today after first having it for dinner last night. More went into the freezer for other meals.

Ok...your husband needs to take orders for the cabinets. They would be so perfect for floss. Miss Liberty is looking fabulous. Her lips are so fun. LOL. Your soup looks like it should be in a food magazine. Impressive. I had intended on baking today but, once again, that idea got pushed aside. I can't really say I accomplished much instead but that seems to be the pattern of my days of late. We've had winter here too. 6" of snow this past Wednesday and then the cold. It warmed some today but single digits at night though and wind....yesterday was just miserable. You're a brave soul to venture out for your walks. I haven't even mustered up enough courage to go get yesterday's mail. LOL. ~Robin~

Enjoy your time with Sweet B! I really like that little drawer unit that your husband made for his nuts and bolts. That meme about the trail guide made me laugh. The soup and homemade bread look delicious! I hope you have a good week and don't get too much more snow. We have had mostly rain in the valleys and thankfully the snow has stayed in the mountains. See you again soon!

I love your husband's little cabinet. Your project seems to be coming right along. I'm surprised by all of your snow. The soup looks wonderful. I am making cheeseburger soup tomorrow. Sounds like you have been enjoying winter.

Quite handy your man is. Had a little snow a few days ago but not the amount the weathermen predicted, thankfully.
I've neve made nor had butternut and sweet potato soup tho I love both vegetables. Did make vegetable soup thou and it was good even without bread.

We do not have any snow in nashua, NH (sigh) and I was hoping for some from the recent predictions. That butternut squash soup and bread looked so good, Cathy. Patrick made a tomato-bread soup over the weekend and also homemade bread, but he has not been happy with his bread making so is now talking about taking classes at King Arthur in the spring.

I knew the East got hit with more snow. We had a bit too. South of us got 7in and we only got 2-3. Temps over 40de today has most of it melted with the sunshine. Your soup looks so good! I made homemade bread too and gave a loaf to my son and Grandkiddos along with homemade Chicken and rice soup. Good chilly Saturday for us here and perfect soup day. Your hubby's cabinet is awesome! He's so talented! Your stitching is coming along great too. Only about a month until Spring so hang in there! Have a good week Cathy!

Oh my! You did get slammed with snow! But you've been productive and eating well! Your husband's cabinet is terrific and I'm really impressed with your "Lady." When I was moderating comments I saw that you just visited but google/blogger didn't send me a notification -- so I'll thank you here. (I always wonder what happens in their machine!)
