To Early?

I made some gingerbread muffins from a new recipe, and it is not a keeper a bit to dry. But eatable we are having them with coffee in the morning.

I was gifted a very old woolen blanket. She estimates it is at least 100 years old. It is lovely but in tough shape. I have grand plans for this! More on that later. It is light weight enough to hook with.  I ran it through the washer and dryer, and it tightened up and is lovely and soft.

I foraged for some greens and made a bit of roping.

I am trying to get the outside decorated before the really cold weather comes. Tomorrow is supposed to be 50's very warm for us.

I set up my large tree today. This poor tree hasn't seen the light of day in several years. Just never had the energy when I worked. We had to get a fake tree because daughter was allergic to a real tree. (It took us a few years to figure out why she was sick every Christmas) And now I really don't mind.
This is also the first year I have put up the tree before Thanksgiving.
I want to host a few holiday parties, so I am getting in the mood early.

I went to the fiber group, there were only 3 of us but all of us were hooking. There were a couple of more that didn't come because they were sick. I will give it a few more tries to see if it is worth the trip for me.
Have a wonderful week!

My house is almost completed for Christmas. Have to decorate the kitchen and finish trimming the trees. Not too early. This way you can enjoy it more. Janice

I haven't put up a tree here is several years, well except for a feather tree I made years ago. Since I no longer entertain and I go visit the family instead of them coming here I figure it is not worth the effort to bring it out and put it all back. Still believe in the reason for the season I just don't decorate as much as I once did.
Also used to make my own donuts, French bread, gingerbread cookies, peanut brittle and bake a lot.

How I wish I had someplace to forage for greens! Yours look lovely.
Isn’t it great to be retired? I know you are loving it.
When you see Lauren come up, it is when my iPad will let me comment but I don’t come up as Rugs and Pugs. Haven’t a clue why 😡

I am planning to start decorating this weekend. I always like my Christmas things up before Thanksgiving. I love your tree. Looks great. Will be interesting to see what you do with that old wool blanket. Enjoy the rest of the week. See you again soon!

I thought I'd have more decorations up before Thanksgiving but here that day is fast approaching and I've done minimal stuff. Picking up wreaths on Saturday so hopefully that will get me started.

My husband eats a muffin a day and I keep a supply in the freezer. One batch I made recently was accidentally without sugar. They were fine though with a cup of coffee.

You're ahead of me. If I can pull myself together in time to get my outdoors done tomorrow before I leave for Detroit to baby sit the boys, that would be good. We'll see. I'll start decorating the day after Thanksgiving, or maybe TG day. It'll just depend on how the day shakes out. Rick's mom is coming and so our schedules are a little squishy!

I was always very old-school and never would dare decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving....but, I see more and more people decorating the day after Halloween. I think it brings a measure of joy and magic - and hope - that is so desperately needed in these troubling days. In any event, I have not had a tree for years. I usually break down and put up other holiday things but not sure about this year. And I always had lights outside as I love the reflection on the windows (especially with no tree) but I can't do that myself and can find no one who is willing to take on the job. And, yikes, I used to pay a lot to have it done. Guess people just don't want to work much anymore. Oh well, I haven't managed to yet get Halloween put away and I didn't have that much out. Love your roping! ~Robin~

I do the same thing with an old sled...decorations like those can stay out all winter, they are the decorations I like best. And a little at a time is a good idea...you'll be all ready for those parties!

I do agree with The Cranky Crow...I'm a bit old-school too and want Thanksgiving to get it's turn...it's like when I see back-to-school items out in June...it makes me crazy! I bought evergreen roping yesterday and felt guilty...too early...but the local nursery runs out and then I'll have none...so it's just sitting; waiting a couple more weeks. And yes, I'll leave it up through February...after all, it's still winter!

I think Martha Stewart would be proud of you for making such a nice garland of greenery for your outdoor Christmas decorations.

I haven't decorated yet but I've seen a lot of Christmassy stuff at our Church bazaar today. I've been busy baking and preparing for the sale all week and attended two funerals. Today, I'm bushed.

Stay well and safe.
Hugs, Julia

I love the little swag on the gate. I'm going to try to make one just like it.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
