The Days Are Shorter

Not sure if you remember I posted this plant on my walk and everyone but one person thought it was poision. Well she was right elderberry!!!

I am once again cleaning out. This time the kitchen. I have boxes that are going and I am passing along my ice cream maker. I thought I would give it one last whirl before it goes. Vanilla choc-chip. It is good but it is time for it to go.
Since I had 2 egg whites left over from making ice cream I made a few meringues.

I dug up a couple of potatoes just to see how they were doing. Pretty good I would say.

Today I made bread by hand it came out great!
The days are getting shorter and the nights are pretty cool.
Tonight we will go into the 40s.
Fall is showing on the trees.
We have no plans for the long weekend which is unusual but it is freeing.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Oh, your bread looks so yummy.
Last week we had some cool nights and they felt so good. This week has been stinkin' hot...and I am a summer person. I hate how short the days are becoming!!!

Your bread looks so delicious! I have an ice cream maker too, but I haven't used it in years! Maybe it's time to pass it along to someone else. Yes, days are shorter here too and we have cooled down a bit too, so that is nice. I am looking forward to fall.

I need to bake bread too and I think I just might make some macaroons while the oven is on. The ice cream looks delish💗

You sure were busy today. Was nice and cool for a couple days last week but yesterday was horribly hot and humid. Yup, getting shorter by 16 minutes per day now the meteorologist said.

No plans yet here either. We have had family company visiting since Monday evening. They left this morning to catch the Vermonter to Philadelphia and home to Reading. 52º here this morning but lwer temps on the way tonight.

You did that all in one day? I would need a day to plan and get everything ready. My mom made meringues. She would put a dash of green food coloring and mint chocolate chips or mint flavoring for Christmas. So good.

Our nights at the lake have been cool, though not quite into the 40s. Yet. (Into the 50s, though.) I'm not ready. I'm seeing signs of fall as well. Too soon for me! Your ice cream looks good and I love meringues!

My maternal grandmother made elderberry pie all of the time. It is toxic raw. Potatoes are looking good. Janice

You've been busy! Good idea to make those meringue cookies. I need to remember that when I have egg whites left. The bread looks so good!
It's been cool in the morning here too. The weather is changing for sure!

The nights are closing in earlier all the time and it’s cooler in the nights. Fall is on the horizon.

Your bread does look fabulous...as does the ice cream. I'm very much attached to my ice cream maker and actually have thought of getting another for the lake. I don't have much storage up there though so it would have to go in the detached, unfinished, garage. Too bad you're not closer! We had some very hot days this week (at least I THINK it was this week...yikes, where did the days go??) but it's chilly out there now. Expecting some bad weather tonight/tomorrow. I had hoped to get to the lake for the holiday weekend but just isn't going to happen. I have to catch up somehow from the whirlwind that was this week and prepare a similar couple of weeks to follow. Yes, fall is coming... I have one tree that's almost completely changed over already unbelievably. ~Robin~

The bread looks excellent. What kind of ice cream maker are you giving away? I get that though. When it'stime to go it's time to go.

Everything looks great - and look at that loaf of bread! Oh warm with butter...that is where I put weight on, who can resist it?! I found an ice cream maker cleaning out my basement, and it's had a couple of turns this summer - I admit though, I'm ready for fall, just too hot here!

The trees here are still very much green and while the temps have dipped a bit in the evenings, this afternoon it was 85 degrees, so not quite sweater and jeans weather just yet. An ice cream maker would be a dangerous kitchen appliance for us, so we have never thought to get one. The bread looks like it turned out wonderful and sure it tasted even better,

We had some super hot days with a few cooler days and nights and now it looks like more cool than hot days ahead. Our trees are turning too and I'm excited for the "ber" months! Bread looks awesome and so does the icecream. I use my icecream maker once in a while but not quite ready for it to be gone. Have a great labor day and enjoy your week Cathy!
