Fall Secrets

Each year we have someone who comes and decorates our mailbox and sign post with cornstalks and pumpkins. I know it is not my husband. I came home from work no cornstalks. Husband was in the house and we had a quick dinner. He left to play pool, I headed out for a walk at the same time. And wow the cornstalks were there and all tied on! There is no way he could of done it. unless he has some magic powers he never told me about. It just makes my day. Really my fall!!

I am harvesting the last of my basil. I made basil butter this year. I froze it and will give it with a loaf of home made bread for the holidays.

Basil salt we shall see how it goes.

The fall colors are starting to show. Not as much red as last year.
I will miss these wonderful fall nights. While I don't mind winter, I love fall the best.
Have a great week!

Could your secret cornstalk delivery come from your daughter? Just a thought. Always a lovely treat for you to see it each year! Janice

How fun that someone decorates your mailbox in the fall. We have cooled down a lot here and had some rain today. There may be a little snow in our forecast next week. I am afraid that fall won't last long enough.

Lucky you to have a special friend who does this every fall. I would love it too. Perhaps with a little more time the reds will show up in the foliage. It is such a beautiful time of year.

Oh wow, the cornstalks are up on your mailbox again! It is joyful, isn't it?! And exciting! Just something wholesome, sweet, and mysterious! I am intrigued by that basil salt! I hope it turns out. What a wonderful idea!

I've never made basil butter but I've seen a recipe for it. I must try it. I need to harvest the rest of my basil. I only have a huge basil plant this year.
All I've ever made has been pesto.

It was hot today to work in the flowerbed but I enjoyed every moment of it. I had to come in for ice cream to cool off.

Hugs, Julia

I was just thinking about your traditional mailbox decorating and wondering if it had appeared yet. I hope the person who does it knows at least a little of the joy he/she is giving not only you, but others who know of their "doings" as well. Basil butter you say?? Basil salt?? I have never heard of either Both sound interesting. My basil did so well this year even though I sorely neglected it and harvested none of it. I did have my neighbor come and take what she wanted as she makes pesto. I can't believe it is October and it still looks incredible. ~Robin~

LOVE how you use "Hollow" in your blog name!!!!

How delightful that someone decorates your mailbox in Autumn!!! Is it done, to any others?

I've not seen much red, in our Autumn coloration. Hope this is "YET"! In fact it seems fall foliage turning is a wee bit late this year... In the upper NE.

How fun to be "stalked" each October! Like you I love this month and our colors haven't really started yet. A few yellows here and there but hopefully a full rainbow of Fall delights will appear soon...like your surprise decorator! Enjoy your weekend!

What a fun tradition someone has started for you. I love fall. It is so nice to go out in the morning to that crisp air and blue sky. We haven't had a cool October like this in years and years so its such a treat now.
So glad your friend the decorator has returned year after year. When I read about the person who decorates your mailbox, it always reminds me that that person who left the the stuff each year on Edgar Allan Poe's grave. Have a great Sunday.
