It started Saturday with about 4 inches of snow and then ice!
Lots and lots of ice. It has just risen above freezing in the past few hours, but it is still drizzle and rain off and on.
I thought it was time to get my germaniums out.
As most of you know I cut them back take the soil off the roots and put them in a big basket in a cool closet for the winter.
Then I give them a drink for about 24 hrs and put them in the soil.
I have never had any issues with them not coming back and they are always bigger and better than the year before. They are all the old fashion red ones. They will be in great shape by the time I can put them outside for the summer.
My sweet friend and I hit the thrift store on Saturday. I got this lap quilt for 4.00 and a large flag bunting for 2.00 that will look great on the front of my porch this year. I also took in a good size box of donations. I did some Easter shopping for my grand's Easter basket at the regular stores. It is getting harder now that she is older.

I have my sweet friends coming for a few days in a week. I took a look around and decided I needed to get rid of some winter dirt.
I pulled my stove out and all I can say is holy moly!!!
Dawn power spray and scrub daddy are my friend!!
I also attacked the shower door track with Q-tips. I am not the best house cleaner I keep the clutter down and wipe the surfaces and run a vacuum cleaner now and then. I have too many things I like to do in a day. I also need to cut my phone time down.
Enough said, I guess.
Have a wonderful week

Oh my, that looks cold! I LOVE that $4.00 quilt, it is so nice. I would be so tickled to find that buy!
You sure have been energetic!! Areas like behind the stove get so grungy.
Your weather is anything but pleasant. Hopefully changing the calendar over to April will see more warm sunshine.
We're in the midst of an ice storm - it started Friday night with torrential rains, then last night with the ice and there's snow to follow as well. I just home the commute is safe for those who have to go into work tomorrow. Wow, you got some great bargains at the thrift store. I should start looking for some things for my grand's Easter basket as well. Completely out of ideas at this point. Can't wait to see your geraniums show their stuff again this year. Have a great time with your friends. (And I get it about the cleaning...my house was so much better off when I worked LOL).
You have definitely put me to shame with the Q-tips. That is exactly what my shower door needs and never thought of it before. I've always used bulky scrapers or sponge which doesn't do the job. Thanks for the tip ... make that Q-tip.
Having friends over is always a good prompt for extra cleaning.
Here in Michigan there was a terrible ice storm in the north; trees are falling all over. I hope you didn't have a lot of damage from it.
Happy Sunday and wow, that ice is crazy! I just had my stove out also because I dropped something behind it so I also had the scrub Daddy and soap! But it feels good to get that done anyway. The fridge is also a surprise package when I pull it out! I hope you have a good visit with friends! Great find at the the thrift store!
Ugh on the snow and ice. We are under a sever thunderstorm watch and there is a band of storms headed this way. Hopefully it wont be too bad. That was an awesome price for that lap quilt. Have fun with your friends. I dont clean every day either. No judgement here. Janice
Look at you rockin' the cleaning. Well done, Cathy!
I love the ice on the branches. I also love that you bring the flowers in and make them grow again the next year. Whenever it is that we move, that's something I'd like to practice as well.
Wishing you a FANTASTIC week. Cheers, Ivy.
Hi Cathy! We have more snow in our forecast this week, so I am sure I will feel your pain in a few days. I am more than ready for sunny spring weather. I tried to winter my geraniums one year, and I must have not done it right because the geraniums didn't come back. Looks like you know just what to do to keep the flowers coming back year after year. I love the $4.00 lap quilt. Great find! Sounds like you have been busy with spring cleaning, which is always good to get done. Have a good week!
so sorry you have more winter-ugh Awesome find at the thrift store with the pretty quilt-love that. I am like you with the cleaning-My Mom was a clean fanatic so I never wanted to be like that-I do the same keep the dust down and clean the floors as needed. hugs Have a good new week
I feel your pain with the snow. It has snowed here all weekend. I know I need to pull my stove out and clean, but it makes me nervous since it is gas. Love the quilt. Have a great day. Enjoy time with your friend.
So sorry about your winter weather. We are getting rain and high winds.
Great thrift store finds. Love the lap quilt.
Thanks for the reminder about the geraniums! I will have to retrieve mine from the basement and hope I have half the luck you do.
Enjoy your friend s time ♥️

Great deal on that lap quilt. Our grands are getting harder to buy for too. Their mother shopped with me for their Christmas presents. We had a great time together.
Love the quilt! So glad you rescued it. My housekeeping style is much like yours. I don't have help and do what I can when I want to. Thus deep cleaning doesn't get done much. Shame on me. Like you, there are too many other things I want to spend my precious time doing. Be careful on that ice and I hope you and your geraniums bask in spring shine & warmth soon.
I didn't know you could bring back germaniums - that is really cool.
I do love the quilt for your patio.
And yes the older the kids get the harder to shop for.
I do the same type cleaning you do - lol - then once a year I do a deep clean.
Thank you for reminding me that my Dad used to do that with geraniums. And yes, they were prettier and stronger each year. They are my favorite summer plant so I will give your process a try at summers end.
It looks like you got what our cottage got -- we are hoping we still have a roof and that tomorrow someone can get out there to check. Love that pillow!
