On my walk today I spied this in the road.
We have had some very windy days.
Since this was a large piece of a very large hive. I looked around but I could not spy the top part.
So I took some pictures and moved on. Husband comes home from working out with it in his hands and yep there were wasps coming out of it!! Yikes and he had had it in the back seat of his truck! So anyway both of us danced around a bit and looked in his truck. Luckily no wasps in there. Life is never dull.
I am in a pumpkin spice kind of mood.
I know this creamer is not good for you but just once a year I get my fix and I am good.
I even have it in our downstairs bath.
My walks have been so quiet lately.I rarely meet anyone walking or a car. It gives me a lovely quiet time.
The colors are showing more and more each day.
And what lovely days we are having. Cool nights and warm lovely days.

I love the scent of oranges and always pick scents like that, if I can find good ones. I am looking forward to fall colors, but not sure if I want to fight the crowds, heading north. We have some nice weather this week, but looks like smoke is coming back again.
Wasp nests are so amazing. I let one get out of control on our upper deck because it was so beautiful. Everything was fine until fall and they started to get waspy. Glad you weren't stung.
I think we all need a little more quiet time. Your walks sound lovely. That is quite a hive! So glad you didn't get stung.

Rugs and Pugs
That's a nice-size nest. Not so much in one's truck and not disarmed. I have cohabitated for the hornets that make the honeycomb type nests under the eaves (ALL OVER under the eaves) for years - they're really quite docile - I leave them be and they leave me be. But those paper nest wasps (and the mud-nest wasps in the ground) are NASTY. I had a paper wasp colony make a nest under the cover of the fire pit in the cornzebo and used 4+ cans of spray and they still were not gone. And then found two nests out front. It's been a bumper year for insects and rodents it seems. We had summer-like temps today - and tomorrow it's supposed to be mid-80's. Weird to think we had our first frost last weekend. ~Robin~
That is the biggest wasp nest I've ever seen. So glad you didn't get stung.
What are the chances you both would be drawn to the same thing! Glad there weren’t any stings!
I can't believe your husband retrieved it and put it in his truck! Yikes. Glad you didn't get bit. I agree - sometime being alone and relaxing is so important.
Wow about the wasps nest-I wasn't sure what that was at first. Around us that I can see-don't see change of colors here yet. I love fall and pumpkin most anything. enjoy the rest of your week

I've changed my setting back to 'never' moderate because it was more trouble to find them in the 'spam' folder of my blog and the comment didn't come directly into my email anyway. At least it was easier to see if I had comments just by looking at the number under the blog post itself.
Wasp nests are really amazing - but not when they are in your truck with wasps still in them! Glad you both escaped being stung.
It really has been lovely lately. Although today it's supposed to hit 88 for us!
That really was a big nest of what I believe are paper wasps. Glad no stings resulted as wasps are not my favorite insect. There are sole color changes here in Nashua, as well.
That's a large paper wasp nest. Around here they're not very aggressive, but I hear in some regions they are, maybe a different species.
I am certainly glad those wasps did not get in the truck - I am very allergic to them! Not my favorite at all! But the nest is amazing.
EEK on your husband having the wasps in his tuck. My dad had to go to the hospital once. He was painting his parents barn and there was a hive nearby. He was stung so many times it was awful. My mom drove him to the hospital. I treat myself once a week to a pumpkin spiced ice cappe from Tim Horton's Love them. Janice
That is a big nest. I'm glad neither of you got stung. I'm wondering how you're going to use that nest to decorate. You are so creative. I bet you already have an idea. I'm enjoying the cooler nights.

I could use some seijaku around here. Fascinating hornet house. I'm not sure I've ever seen one before. But I do have a tree that needs trimming and there is a bee hive in it. I need to deal with that. Have a great weekend.
Ouch with the wasp nest! We get ground hornets that are nasty if you roll over them with the mower. Fall is coming here with the leaves changing but we're in a bit of a drought and I'm afraid it will ruin a pretty fall. Today I'll decorate for the season that I love. Enjoy your Monday Cathy!
