The Devil Has It

There have been several things go missing in our house recently.
My grandmother always said when things went missing "The devil has them and when he is done, he will bring them back."
He did bring back my favorite salad bowl yesterday after it had been missing 2 weeks and today, I found my medical necklace that had been missing for several days. But I would like to know what he is doing with my favorite chopping knife that has been missing since June.

Last night we went to a friend's house for a bit of fun.
He had someone playing some great music.

And we watched the sunset.

Some people came by boat and their dog was having none of it and he stayed on the boat, so sweet.
Speaking of sweet we have a house guest for the next few days while her family is on vacation. On our first walk we saw a bear cub and the mom. Thankfully we were on the top of the hill, and they were at the bottom. She smelled them right away, but they did not seem to notice us thankfully (she is not a barker) we turned and retreated quickly. In all the years I have walked that road this is the first time I have seen a bear. I guess they are everywhere this year.

And we see the first signs of fall. The trees are turning a bit right now I think because they are so stressed from all the rain this year.
Have a wonderful week!

Very cool about the bear. The devil messed with me on my 50th birthday. He took my glasses, my quilting scissors, and favorite coffee cup. They did return. It looks like fun on the lake.

Autumn started here as well. Love that the pup just stayed on the boat, on the couch. So funny. Glad you were all safe from Mama and her baby. Wishing you a yummy week ahead. Cheers, Ivy.

When things go missing here I don't think the devil took them, instead think I misplaced them, lol. I'm so thankful where I live doesn't have bears and lucky you were probably down wind so the bear didn't smell you but the dog could.

Annabelle's collar and leash went missing for a few days. I thought I was going nuts since I had just had them in my hand and poof...gone. My son found them when he went to do his laundry. They had fallen in the washing machine. Hmmm. Looks like a fun way to spend a day by the lake with music. I'm glad we are done dog sitting. 3 dogs was more than I wanted to handle. Tell those trees to hold out a bit. I want to see some color when we come in September! Bears and cubs? Oh my! That cute dog looks big enough to take off and take you with him. Careful! Have a good Monday Cathy!

For me, it's putting things in a safe place where I know it won't get lost. I usually find the item when I go to put the replacement away, right in the same spot.

Momma bears and cubs are a very good thing to avoid. So far in Iowa, we only have the occasional bear wander through, usually a young male. Sadly, they usually end up getting shot.

Our trees are stressed and some are showing color due to lack of rain this year.

Bears are everywhere. Glad you were not noticed.
Your house guest looks right at home. Funny photo of the dog staying in the boat. I wonder if he's afraid they'll take off without him.

I misplace things sometimes and I know they will be found sooner or later. It's my busy mind that doesn't record where I put them in the first place. The devil better stays away from my things or I'll send Mother Mary after him,. lol...

I'm sure there are more bears in the woods who are looking for Little Red Riding Hood.
Seriously, having bears near where people live is a bit disturbing. My son saw a Cayote and her pup in his backyard on Saturday night. He lives just next door to me. They are getting closer. I hope they eat all those groundhogs that are creating havoc with our gardens and chase the deers away.

Hugs, Julia

I've never heard that saying before...but, if true, the devil sure has been busy in Nod and hasn't finished with most of the the things he's squirreled off with. I think on of the most distressing things that has gone MIA is Rajah's emotional support mouse. He loved that ratty tatty thing and carried it everywhere with him even when he wasn't playing. It disappeared about 5 or 6 months ago and Rajah has been distraught. He will no longer plays with anything and is overly clingy. I have looked for a replacement but can't find the exact one and none of the others that I've brought home suits him. Fun times at the lake. We used to have an acquaintance we know who is in a band come and play acoustic guitar on the 4th at the lake. I absolutely loved it. Leaves have been turning and falling here as well. We got a little rain last night but it's a bit too little too late me thinks. Have a great new week! ~Robin~

Good that you got your salad bowl back ( it looks just like my set of Pyrex mixing bowls).
Also good that you were able to walk away and not have that bear notice you! No one wants to meet up with a bear!! Have a great week. GM

I get a little nervous about walking the trail when reports are out that a bear has been seen in the area. I surely wish the devil would finish up with my prescription glasses - strange that he has the same eye needs that I have. :~/

It's beautiful where you are! Love that boat photo. I lost a macaron pan for months and found it in my sofa cushions. Don't ask -- I have no idea.

Some of the trees here are in the same condition, which is a month early for sure.

I have noticed that the "lost" things always seem to eventually turn up in the last place I looked, Cathy. Afterwards, I always ask myself...WHY didn't I just look there first? Glad the bowl has reappeared and hopefully the other misplaced items will too.

I saw my first tree with orange leaves today. I am so NOT ready.
Spotting a bear on your walk is rather frightening. Happy there were no issues.
Right now the devil has so many things of mine. I thought when I was packing up the kitchen I would still be able to find things. NOPE!!!

I have been seeing shades of red in the trees here now. So glad there was no bear encounter. Janice

Fall is not far off, but I fear that here in Utah we have a few more hot days to get through. I hope you have a good week. See you again soon!

So true! Why is it things go missing, no one has moved them, and then suddenly they appear out of the blue? Now I know why!! I am searching for a notebook one of the kids made when they were little...it was by my desk for years...now nowhere to be found, it's making me crazy. That devil!

Yes things seem to be out of season here too.

It is frustrating to hunt for things we thought we knew where they were
