I finally got to go out to dinner with my sweet friend. Her birthday was in March and because of schedules etc etc we never got together. Well last night was the night. I got to treat her to dinner, and we had a chance to talk and laugh and catch up. I am so looking forward to more time with her this summer! She gifted me this apron for my retirement. I truly am happy when I am in the kitchen great gift.
One of my clients Dad came in the with a dozen red roses and a lovely letter telling me just how much I mean to them. Such a thoughtful gift and so beautiful.
And speaking of flowers my spring flowers here continue to bloom.
This is lily of the valley. I love it and I have memories of it when I was a child but where I planted it is taking over! We are going to try to transplant some where it can go as wild as it wants.
And my all-time favorite wild lady slippers.
I swear it grew over night! Right in our front yard too! I found 3 more on my walk the next day. They are such a treasure.
Oh, and speaking of treasure I went to the dump and low and behold Christmas treasure. This is one of the two boxes I took I could not believe they would stack it up among old tins and sports equipment.
But I was happy to snag it not that I needed it, but I was not leaving it there to get broken.

We had a bit of rain today I am hoping it helps husband with his allergies. We have family plans for a cookout on Monday it looks like the weather is going to be summer like.
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

Your flowers are all so very beautiful. I have always loved lily of the valley...so much so, that they were in my wedding. It was a trick to get them as it was an unusually early summer and HOT the year we got married and the ones we thought we could source were long spent...but my florist came through. Before WWR, I had them planted between the house and garage but they went rampant...breaking up the sidewalk and even growing inside the garage believe it or not. Needless to say, when things were "put back together" landscape-wise, the lilies of the valley were mysteriously MIA. I always intended to replace them, somewhere, but never have. But those lady slippers...Gah!! Those I absolutely, positively, adore. (I know, I know, I said that last year too...but I do so love them.) ~Robin~
I am amazed at how quickly your landscape can transition from snow and ice to beautiful wild flowers. I love the lady slippers.
Beautiful flowers and the lady slippers how special. love your new apron too-hugs
What thoughtful gifts! I love the apron and the beautiful roses. Wow, great find at the dump. I hope you are enjoying your first days of retirement!
I have lots of Lily of the Valley growing down my driveway which started out with maybe 3 transplanted from my mother's yard.
Soon every day will feel like a weekend or holiday with lots to look forward to.
How sweet and thoughtful! The flowers are beautiful.
I am glad y'all had a wonderful dinner out.
Excellent find on those ornaments!
Have a peaceful Memorial Day
My lily of the valleys are blooming too. I love their sweet smell. How nice to receive those flowers and also how nice to be with your friend. You scored on those vintge ornaments too! Janice
I don't have Lily of the Valley or Lady Slippers here. Hmmmm...just might have to find some! Super cute apron and beautiful roses! Happy Retirement and now on for some good fun! Being able to connect with friends is the best and now you'll have the time to do it more. Or maybe not..I'm just as busy as I was working. Oh wait, I'm still working! Only part-time though and I have the power to say yes or no when asked to work. Have a good memorial day weekend and I'm glad some warm weather will be there like it's going to be here on Monday. Today is chilly though..only60de! Take care Cathy!
You hit the Christmas ornament lottery with that haul. Congrats!
My lily of the valley has gone crazy, too. It is everywhere.
How many more days of work???
The roses were really such a nice gift to surprise you with, Cathy, and to show how much you were appreciated which I'm sure others felt the same way. The Christmas ornaments were certainly a wonderful find and glad you "rescued" them from destruction.
Nice find with the ornaments. Lily of the Valley is also one of my favorites. Mine are getting close to blooming. I love the apron. I have a small collection myself.
