Stitching Time

I spent the day cleaning my porch getting it ready for the summer. We have a lot of pollen so I am sure I will have to do this all again, but I got the winter layer off.

I found a potted Hosta that I forgot I had covered it up for the winter and completely forgot about it. But a plant has gotta grow I guess so it is in the sunshine for a while so I that it can get its color and continue to grow.

On my walk today I walked by the farm. The owner of this farm just died he was only a few years older than my husband and it was a quick illness. I wonder if his cattle miss him. His Children are taking over for now not sure long term what will happen, but I feel so incredibly sad about it all. He always seemed so healthy and always in the fields or the barn.

I haven't done much in the past week but clean and garden so tonight I am back at stitching, and it feels pretty good.

My husband is feeling much better after having Pneumonia. Tonight, he is off to a friend's house to play a little pool tonight for a while. It will be good for his spirits.
Not many days of work left they did offer me a bonus to work the month of June I said "no" I walked into my little bookstore and the woman who owns the ice cream store that we share a space with said I will give you a 1000.00 to stay the month of June! I just laughed she said not enough name your price! LoL she was kidding of course (or was she???) If nothing else, it was an ego boost that I did make an impact just running a little bookstore with handicapped adults.
Have a great week!

Ooooooohhh, this post is so refreshing. I'm glad to hear Hubby is feeling better (sorry, I didn't know he was ill). You are a delight which is worth many thousands 💕 Congratulations on your upcoming retirement.

Yup there comes a time when you know it is time to GO. Time is worth more than money when we get to a certain age. You will enjoy every minute I'm sure!!!!

Cleaning and gardening are two best things about spring. I love them both. And, I love your stitching.

June's a short month -- only 30 days!

I'm glad the pneumonia is past and the healing (always too slow) is underway. But so very sad about your neighbor. Your stitching makes me smile!

I think we all know when it's our time to retire.
I was ready at the time. The company was giving out huge bonus checks to retire(over 100,000 dollars-but federal taxes would have taken allot of that)-I needed to wait til I got my 25 years in. I retired in the fall and was tempted to work until December as I knew they would probably offer another huge bonus check-but that would mean another winter commute of driving.
no regrets even though I heard they did offer that big check in December.
Glad your husband is over the pneumonia-that is a rough one hugs

You earned your retirement and money isn't everything. The offer for a bonus shows how much you are appreciated. I hope that the person who replaces you will be happy with the job while you will be happy with your free time.

Enjoy your retirement.
Hugs,
Julia

So sad about the farmer. Life is precious...and so fragile.
Happy hubby is doing well. Like I just said...life is fragile.
Your stitching is looking good.
I am always envious of your porch. So inviting ;-)

Well, had she thrown in all the ice cream I could eat in that month I may have been tempted. JK...like the others said, when it's time, it's time - and an added blessing when you know that it is. Glad hubby's doing better. Spring is toying with us. Yesterday was nice but last night we dipped back into the 30's and today is cold. I had to turn the heat back on. Enjoy your spring putterings. ~Robin~

Glad to hear hubby is back to being able to do things again. Loving your stitching project. I am actually working on a cross stitch piece myself now. Just a small one though. Am with Robin on throwing in the ice cream, and I probably would stay...heck what am I saying...still working myself so kudos to you! We are under a frost advisory. I never plant annuals until Memorial Day because of this. We always get frost sometime between Mother's Day and then Janice

Good news your husband is feeling better
Being appreciated stores love memories to spread throughout your days.
A tulip plant got stuck under winter cover. It has yet to bloom, but has a bud.

I am glad your husband is feeling better. We had a neighbor who passed years ago, still miss seeing his draft horses and him riding them with the wagon, down the road. I got a bunch of Hostas to plant around the yard, they die off in the winter and came out beautifully this year, once the warmth came back.

Good news about your husband feeling better, Cathy, and getting out to see friends is as good a medicine as anything😀 It must have felt good to feel so appreciated as to have been offered a stay-on incentive. Sorry to read about the neighbor’s passing and it is nice that family is keeping the farm going a while longer.

I'm glad your hubby is feeling better and out and about. I bet you're excited about retirement. I know you'll spend lots of time stitching and hooking and gardening. It's a great time of year to not work! Plus you can stay home during your hard winters. I retired at the worst time..2020...Covid time. But with the health issues that happened at that time it turned out to be a blessing. I've been back to work for a year now. I work PRN which means I can say yes or no when they ask. I'm thinking this will be the last year to do it. I'm playing it week to week and I know in the summer I'm going to only do 2 days a week. Anyway, enjoy your weekend and I have to say that I love, love, love your porch! I'll be bringing out our deck furniture this weekend and hopefully that crazy pollen here will slow down!

Good to hear your hubby is feeling better...that's always welcome news. I hope the kids continue to farm...to me, that is something we just can't lose, a lot of work and often worry, but also, such a peaceful existence as well. Enjoy the weekend...time for feet up and a good book.
