Love Your library

I keep telling myself this but it very hard when I am looking in the mirror.

We got rain then the sun came out I threw on shoes and out I went. yikes it was very icy! But I made it in one piece.

I had a few rolls that were not fresh anymore. I ground them in the food processor and put them in the oven on a cookie sheet on a very low temp. Voila bread crumps!
Ever since my daughter was a little girl, we have used the library. I was a stay-at-home mom with not a lot of money to keep her in books. The library was very important to us.  (she is now on the board of the library in her town.) And libraries have come a very long way since those days. Our librarian of our little town is a very young man who is willing to help with technology and add more events all the time. I could not get the app for the library to go on my tablet. A few minutes later he got it up and running. I had not listened to audio books since we used CDs. I thought it might be a good change while rug hooking. Everything was free and I have had such a lovely time listening to one of my favorite authors. If you have not been to your local library go check it out so much is going on there.

I am on the last part of my rug. Her face needs lots of help but I will get to that. I changed a few things on this pattern to suite my taste. I have another picked out and started to color plan a tiny bit of it.
and speaking of libraries I was contacted by a fellow rug hooker in the area that I do not know. She and her friend have invited me to hook with them at their local library next week. I am looking forward to meeting them and having a hooking buddies in my area.

I have an eye appointment tomorrow early we are hoping to get some shopping done and maybe out to lunch after. We will see I know they are dilating my eyes which is never much fun.
Have a wonderful week!

Glad I caught this post before closing the laptop for the night! I used the library tons when my boys were young. We would check out free videos and of course tons of books. I haven't been to ours in a long time and you have inspired me to get back there! We have a wonderful library for such a small town so I need to take advantage of it! Have a good week and good luck with your eye appointment. That's another thing on my to do list. Seems like the dog gets better health care than me! Ha!

I really like your rug. It turned out so cute. Oh goodness, I could go on and on about the library. I love my library and the librarians. I have the app and I use it all of the time. During the shut down ours were closed and I think that made me sadder than anything. I remember as a kid as we were rural, we used the bookmobile. Such a treat. Our kids were in all of the reading programs and I love that all of my grand kids are now. The libraries have come such a long way. That ice in the trees is so pretty, but it must be so cold. I hope you have a great eye appointment and you get to have a lovely lunch out. Plus a really great week.

Awww....your rug is turning out so sweet. I currently have way too many projects going....hooking, stitching, punching...and otherwise....and I am not getting anything DONE with them. Maybe it's part of the "getting old" thing you are experiencing, but I just feel like there are so many projects I want to get to and not enough time. We've had 2 nights of ice storms and it is a skating rink out there and, unfortunately, it isn't going to get above freezing any time soon so no melting going on. I need to figure out something as I need groceries LOL. I love libraries too...I worked at the huge university library as an ungrad. I must have been better disciplined back then because I know now I would get totally distracted and lost in the books and never get any work done. I'm glad you can do the audio book thing...I can't. Nor the Kindle stuff. I need a physical book in hand. Have a good week ahead! ~Robin~

I want to know more about that paper rug which we only saw snippets of on rare occasions. Whose design is it, where did you get it and when you said 'it needed more', what did you add? Inquiring minds want to know, lol.

You are such a fast rug hooker. It's looking great.

I haven't picked up my hook but I finished my little blanket. I guess I can only work on one project at a time and I never seem to have enough time to do some hooking lately. I seem to be getting busier and busier each day.

I've tried e-books and just can't be bothered. I've downloaded ebooks on my laptop but like Robin, I need the hard copy in my hands. I don't even mind paying extra for a hard copy if's it a book I want to read. I haven't been to the library in quite a while as use Google to research things that I want to learn how to do. I used to go to the library and bring armsful of books home and my kids and grandkids were frequently at the library.

It's raining here this evening.

Take care, be careful on the ice and stay safe.
Hugs, Julia

I left school aged 16 and went to work in a library and have loved them ever since. I was also a stay at home mum with no spare cash so lots of outings to the library when ever we went to town.
We are so lucky to still have libraries because so much funding was cut and now they are run by Community Interest Group with lots of volunteers. Now I request books online and pick them up from the mobile library when it comes to my village once every 4 weeks.
I would be bankrupt if I couldn't borrow books for free!

I love my library!
It's especially important to support school libraries since many books are being banned by narrow minded people all over the U.S. I thought those days were behind us but here we go again.

Design is great and your chosen colors are BEAUTIFUL!
March madness here is cleaning and sorting every drawer, closet, cabinet and project to complete.
Stay warm!

Only 12 days until spring ;-)

Agreed that libraries are wonderful places for many more things then taking out printed books. Ours offers book group, activities for all ages, audio books and films. So many of these were virtual or pick up crafts, but things are thankfully and slowly returning to in-person events/ I haven't listened to an audio book in a while and you reminded me that I should download one this week. We also have had a lot of ice with the melting snow that refroze when temps dropped overnight.

Another Louise Penny fan -- I love her, too! I love that libraries now let you check out things, too -- like a sewing machine! (I haven't done that because I don't sew, but I love that one can check one out!) Your rug is fantastic. That's a craft I've never done and I'm so impressed with what you have done.

Thanks so much for coming by Marmelade Gypsy. So nice to see you there!
