Pleasantville

I have a friend that has a lot of bittersweet. I love bittersweet but do not want it growing on my property, It's very invasive. She cut some for me to decorate with. I wrapped it around the light (my 5.00 yard sale find) when it pops open it is so pretty. Yes I know that's Santa on the right but I love him so much I leave him out all year, he is painted on a piece of found bark. Along with the elf on the other side. the sign above reads" It's my cats world I just open the cans", pretty true for this house.

And this is the cat. Sadie adopted us, long story short she jumped in my husband's truck while he was visiting a friend. She was a tiny kitten we called every where trying to find her owner then the vet said" forget it they dump cats and kittens all the time on that road. I think she is yours now." She is 16 now and the queen of the house. And I hope she is living better than the person who dumped her. I can't imagine doing that.
I took some pictures of the house and yard. I promise it is the last of the fall pictures! My gate to the garden. See my swing that we put up this year?

The view from the top of our driveway. We live in an upscale neighborhood and us? We are the clampets ,except we don't have a c-ment pond. But my husband has some of those fancy pot passers though.ha Ok if you're not old enough to have watched the Beverly hillbillys than that means nothing to you young-un.
There are 10 houses on this dead end road, we all have 4 acres or more so it is quiet and peaceful. My husband built this house 22 years ago. One of the reasons we could afford to live here.
When my daughter started teaching(like her dad) she was in a district that wasn't as fortunate as the one she grew up in. The first thing she said was "I didn't know I grew up in pleasantville." It is nice to know that she appreciates the hard work of her family. So I can stay in pleasantville I need to go to work tomorrow, so off to take a shower. The long weekend was wonderful even though today was spent cleaning the basement so we can bring in the wood, then I can cook my vittles, kidding! so we can fend off the oil man. I love the comments and I can not believe I have new followers! Keep the comments coming it gets boring in pleasantville.

Sandwich Fair 100 Years

It is 100 years of the New Hampshire Sandwich fair. What a beautiful day to go to the fair. First I want to show you the rugs entered for show. It was very crowded but I got pictures of them all. This house rug I thought was nice because it was rounded at the top and had a button to hang it with.
These two were hard to get and the pillow that is in the top and bottom picture also hard to get.
Great job was done on the pear, great large cut shading. to the left do you see the small picture? That must be a hooked picture of the old man of the mountain. I didn't even see it until the pictures where up loaded.
.
 This game board is fun.
This is a large rug it is folded in half,

Love the corn, the pumpkin, and snowman. They are stuffed figures.
 Happy Halloween!
 A stick horse cute.
I love the colors in this rug, also large.
large rug different colors.

lovely birches.
I have on occasion entered a rug in the fair, I have won first prize a couple of times and also not won anything several times.
I am so glad I never went up against this rug. First it is larger than the one I am working on. The colors are vibrant and beautiful and it is a personally designed rug. This is of the next town, Tamworth NH. The birch rug is hanging over it. so the view of it is broken up. But is this not the most amazing rug!
This rug was all rolled up,no one could see it I had the girl guarding the wares unroll it so I could take a picture. It had no name and on it so we think that is why. It has some prodding on it,cute.( I had to make some pictures small so they would fit so click on them to make them larger.)
The parade through the fairgrounds was fun. can you see everyone face and how they are smiling.
This is the NH policemen piper piper band.
this was a Dalmatian group but can you see in the back right?? That's a golden retriever dressed as a dalmatian.
Ah the good old days.
of course there is always a couple of turkeys in the crowd showing off.
and here they are! Just kidding! L to R my son-in-law, His dad and my husband.
I have more to show you but will leave it for another day. My daughter is blogging a bit about the fair if your want more.
Welcome to my new follower. I so love all your comments keep them coming. I hope your 10-10-10 was a good one.

Last Yard Sales of The Season

This will most likley be my last weekend of yard sales for the season. Which is sad but on the up side it was a good day and good finds . This is a half window at the top of my house that I thought was so pretty reflecting the sky and the leaves. I ran around taking pictures of everything, hard frost tonight.
This is a tree in our front yard so pretty with the sun coming through. Now on with the finds for the day. This is a bit of holiday that I found. Floating fall leaves, christmas lights and a scented ring for a light bulb.
I ran into the most amazing yard sale for music. I always check for good music I still play it the old fashion way and for 1.00 each who could go wrong. I found Cher,CCR( that is playing now). I can see the 70's flashing by ha. Some natalie merchant, the Doors etc. I will let my daughter down load what she wants. The book is fancy Nancy. Now If you haven't heard of fancy Nancy ask any 3 year old. Nancy is fancy in her clicky clacky shoes and wonderful clothes and her adventures.
I found this movie never opened. I thought I would give it a try for 1.00
I am having the worst time with this new format for blogger. I lost a picture of a leather bag I bought for 1.00 wilson leather. So if it shows up that is what it is. I also found a lot more but will save it for another day.
I had to change my format for comments. I got a comment it was not bad but when I went to their blog, holy cow it was not about rug hooking if you get my drift. Not wanting anyone visiting me to get to theirs from here I deleted it and changed my format. I have some new followers I really do get excited to think some one really wants to follow my not very exciting life. Leave me a comment let me know if you are having trouble with the format or if it is my lack of computer knowledge.

I Won! I Won!

I won! I won! I won! My very first blog prize is from Lauren at http://www.rugsandpugs.blogspot.com/
It is a beautiful punched fall mat. I can't wait to get my hot little hands on it.
She posted about my large rug I am working on. This rug is 4ft 6in square so I thought I would show you my progress. Not that much since I last posted it. I was stumped about the roping around the rug I tried red but it looked like the flowers were losing it's leaves. but I dug this out of my stash and it seems to work with my other colors.

I have hooked another large rug, this rug is just shy of 3ft by 8ft. It is in my upstairs hall I usually have it upside down so the sun coming in the sky lights doesn't fade it.

and what would a blog post be with no pictures of dump finds???? All free and pretty cute. I really like the pottery star candle holder. and the crystal is signed.

thank you for all of your lovely comments I love to see them I even peek at work to see if I have any new comments. Again Thank you Lauren!
Have a great rest of the week.

Cooking

I am still the worst fudge maker in the world, but I did manage to get this pumpkin fudge together. It is really yummy and I am not sure what I did wrong and I know I did. But when I added the white chocolate it got hard really, really fast. But! still yummy. So go here www.frombeyondmykitchenwindow.blogspot.com go to her Oct 1 post. (I tried to cut and paste but I am the worlds worst tech. person.) and see her wonderful blog and get the ingredients to make your own fudge. Let me know how it came out. I also made fried green tomatoes this past weekend. I didn't have corn meal so I used a box of jiffy corn muffin mix. they came out pretty good. I am not a southern girl and I am not sure what they are suppose to taste like but these were pretty good.

I still didn't get any ideas on what to do with my letter cards. Got any ideas??? Rain coming so I will tuck in and hook in my spare time this week. Have a great week! I love comments!

Fall in Maine

Thirty five years ago today I said I do and I still do. We decided to take a day in Maine. We saw a lot of sights along the way, this one was the most fun. This field was large and full of pumpkins. We went to Limmick Maine to an apple orchard and a very sweet gift shop. They had these apple trees around the driveway. they were hanging with apples, so lovely.
I got this cement squirrel I think I will paint him white and antique him a little or is it her?

Then we went to Cornish Maine and to Cornish Trading Company. It is a beautiful antique store but a bit pricey. I collect vintage Santa's I love the ones from the 50's and all of his modes of transportation. This is a fireman Santa, my husband most of his adult life has been a firefighter. So this was a good find. It was a bit more than I would normally pay but my husband said when are you ever get a chance to buy him again? When he's right, he's right!

I told you I was going to a church rummage sale, So here are a few things I found. this card game I thought I would do something crafty, any ideas? The game book, I want to learn to play cribbage so I thought it would help.

I also found some small pieces of vintage Christmas fabric. I think I will put plain fabric on the back and make pillow cases. The Christmas music was super cheap and who could pass up Frank,Bing, and Nat king Cole????? So smooth.

I found some wool I always look for old skirts to rip up for my rugs. I follow a blog that she makes the most amazing children's clothing from old skirts. www.lamaisonlafortune.blogspot.com

Welcome to my new followers!!! I have tried to post to my blog for hours but I kept having problems. I was going to make pumpkin fudge but time for bed. I will try to make it tomorrow I am the worst fudge maker in the world so if it comes out I will pass it along.
Have a great week.

Something to Crow About

Since it is getting close to Halloween I thought I would dig out my crows. This is an actual decoy crow. There was a hunting season on them at one time. Picture not the greatest but it is the size of a real crow. This crow was a gift from a friend. It is pretty small but cute with the wool ad on it.
This crow is a hooked mat I did some time ago.

And these crows are really what I am crowing about. I got this from my favorite thrift store.Do you see what I paid???

Yep a whole dollar! and then I turned over and saw this.

Now that is something to crow about!
To my new followers Thank you! Thank You! and to put me on your blog roll I am truly thankful. The blog world is full of wonderful people.
Have a great weekend. My anniversary is this weekend 35 years, now how could that be I am only 35 ha I wish.
