Running It Up The Flag Pole

yea now we slowly go back to the light. My biggest complaint about winter is the darkness.

Monday husband and I took a little road trip to Vermont.

It was the most beautiful trip over. Only about an hour drive.
We did a little shopping and had lunch. It was such a lovely afternoon.

I have finished my owl. He is whipped and stuffed. I HATE WHIPPING! I do not usually finish a rug like that anymore. But this is a pillow and it had to be finished by whipping. It is ready for Christmas and that I am happy about.

I am not sure if you can see the flagpole in this picture. I have suet out for the birds and the squirrels had a hay day with it. It made me so mad so I ran the suet up the flagpole. Problem solved! And the woodpeckers love it.

Red skies in the morning Sailors take warning. We are in for the storm most of the country is going to get. But sadly, we are in for rain and 50 degrees then it drops like a stone so that we can freeze into one big ice cube. And I am guessing that when it first starts, we will be icy as the ground is frozen and the air has been pretty cold lately.
As long as we can make it to our daughter's house on Christmas day, I am good.
Have a wonderful Christmas!

Ha Ha on running the suet up the flag pole! I love the owl; glad he made it for Christmas. Your drive over to Vermont sounds lovely; the perfect little break before Christmas. We are also getting hit with this powerful winter storm. What a great start to winter! ::~\

Oh goodness, I didn't even realize we were at Winter Soltice already. From now on. I'm going to enjoy seeing the daylight getting longer every day.

Great idea to put the suet up the flag pole. I wonder how long before the squirrels find a way to get up there.

Nice owl pillow for Christmas. I hope that the storm isn't as bad as predicted. I'm not planning anything big for this Christmas again. It may only be my husband, son, and me again this Christmas.

Stay safe and warm. Merry Christmas.
Hugs,
Julia

The squirrels are such pests aren't they? we can't even have a bird feeder here-so we toss a bit of seed out on the deck instead early mornings
sounds like a lovely day out-it's early here right now a bit afer 6am and the winds are already howling-we are to have very very strong winds and of course the temps are dropping to below 0 well it is winter now
stay safe hugs

You beat those damn squirrels, good for you!!!!!
Your granddaughter will adore that pillow and hope you capture her smile in a photo to share. Same storm here, right now it is 46* at 9:15 am but is supposed to climb into the 50's before the drop, rain, high winds, and icy dicey roads.

Your owl is beautiful! Gosh I wish I could drive to Vermont on the weekend - lol. We are going to get ice as well. Hang on and be safe.

The pillow is beautiful. Looking at the Wikihow whipping stitch tutorial, it's like a blanket stitch.
Good tip in the suet.
Your trip sounds wonderful. There's more snow on the south of the state where they lost power in the last storm.
Stay safe for this weekend's snow storm
Happy Holidays!

We are getting the rain and wicked winds today. Glad it will be over tomorrow for the holiday weekend, the kids come here and then we go to their house, for Christmas. Love that you put it on the flagpole, outsmart those pesky squirrels. I keep mine on the porch, and send Bean out to chase them, he loves it and just herds them out of the yard. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with the family and everyone is healthy and covid free.

We have a VT road trip in future plans so glad the weather was good and roads clear for your recent outing, Cathy. We are in RI for Christmas and made it here from NH through downpours and high winds and no snow. As you noted, the temps were newr 50 but dropped to teens overnight. Wishing you and your family safe travels and a wonderful holiday together.
