Just A Little Christmas

I have hooked lots of Christmas rugs my daughter and grand have some. This was done some time ago I like it out all winter long.

I hooked this Santa last year and boy do I see things I would change but I still like him, and he is quite large.

With husband sick (he is much better now) I have spent a lot of time in my rug hooking room watching old movies trying to find the Christmas spirit.
This is Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwyck a wonderful old movie.

And White Christmas the old standards are always the best.
Not sure why I have no spirit this year, but I don't seem to. No decorated tree, no Santas, well there is always next year.

I have an embarrassment of riches I bought the green Kitchen Aid years ago for 5.00 and it has been a work horse. A sweet friend moved to Maine and downsized and gave me the other Kitchen aid. They go for crazy money. I feel very fortunate, and they will be working hard as it is cookie and bread making time.

My daughter sent me the nicest note to thank me for the Nutcracker Ballet as it was my treat. She did all the driving and bought lunch. I thought my heart would explode when i read it. What an amazing wonderful young woman she is. I am so proud of her.

I am watching Miracle on 34th Street (the old one with a young Natalie Wood) and I am off to wrap some gifts.
Have a wonderful week.

It's so nice that your daughter is appreciative. It was nice of you to treat the family to the Nutcracker. Old movies can help to get in the Christmas spirit. I have been doing some baking, gift-giving and service projects and that always helps too. I hope you have a good week. P.S. I missed your last post for some reason, but that cartoon at the end with the two books and the library card cracked me up. Have a good one. See you again soon! :-)

christmas baking always gets me in the spirit too and reminds me as a child having fun in the kitchen.
glad your husband is doing better-hugs

I ADORE that first rug! Ahhh, Miracle on 34th St.
The other day I heard that if you watch carefully early in the movie when Natalie is in the room with ..guess it was Santa, there is scene of the Macy's day parade shot thru the window and a man standing on top of a car videoing the event. Back then there was no OSHA back then.

I'm glad the husband is starting to feel better. I'm sorry that the Christmas Spirit is not in your heart right now but I'm sure it will kick in soon. Just talk to sweet Miss B. and I'm sure she has a lot of Christmas Spirit to spare and share with you. How nice it would be if she could come over to help decorate your tree. I have no idea how far she lives from you.

You have some decorations up already. All I have is a wreath on the door and my nativity up and a few Christmas stockings hanging on the closet doors in the hall. Now I have to clean up the living room to put up the Christmas tree.

Your Christmas rugs are lovely and they bring a smile to my face.

Lucky you to have two Kitchen-Aid mixers. All I have is a Cuisinart hand mixer, lol...

That first rug is absolutely wonderful!!!
Even without the Christmas spirit, I hope you can enjoy the season. Miss B would probably be the best antidote ;-)
We watched Miracle on 34th last night. What a delightful movie!!!

Although you may not have all the decor of other years up it sounds like there is a Christmas Spirit going on in your home. I love the rugs and I can almost smell the delish cookies and bread coming from those Kitchen Aid mixers! I'm probably the only human who has ever burned out a Kitchen Aid mixer! I watched those same movies this past week except for Miracle on 34th Street. I'm sure I'll catch it on again this season. My other favorite is Holiday Affair with Robert Mitchum. Have a good week Cathy and don't let that Grinch get you down!

I love your Christmas rugs! Old movies are the best, and should help with that lagging Christmas Spirit.

Some years, it is more difficult to get into what we call the Christmas spirit, especially with your husband not feeling well and other family members too. Hibernating in your favorite room and watching old movies is not a bad thing. I liked your choices and my personal favorite is The Bishop’s wife. Cookie making is also in my plans this week and the Kitchen Aid mixer will come out of its pantry hibernation.

It's always possible the spirit will come. After all, I know a number of people who never do a tree till Christmas Eve or the Solstice on the 21st! What counts is that you do you. I'm on my second viewing of White Christmas and watched Christmas in Connecticut last night. A couple of my favorites!

I so love all of the old wonderful Christmas classics and that Barbara Stanwyck one is a holiday treat for me too! What a sweet thank you from your daughter. Hope your hubby is feeling better too. Not fun to be sick so close to Christmas. Janice

Gift wrapping, baking, watching Christmas movies certainly sounds like more Christmas Spirit than I have managed to must over the past several years. I do miss the light of the tree bouncing off the windows (we have a lot of windows) but I can't get it in and set up and down again so no tree. I forgot to cancel the person who used to put up our outdoor lights, so there were a few outside...but she didn't finish and never came back...and the ones that were up have stopped working one strand at a time. I now only have one strand left and I'm not holding breath that it will still be lit at Christmas....Sigh. And lucky you with 2 Kitchenaids...I only treated myself to one less than 10 years ago and, unfortunately, don't have room on my counter for it. And you have room for 2 LOL. Love your rugs of course...especially that first one. That kitty!! 😻 ~Robin~
