Is This The Start?

I was offered this cappuccino maker for free. It had only been used a couple of times. The only issue is there is no book of instructions. I will hunt you tube I am sure I can figure it out. I asked why she was giving it away she said she prefers Dunkin Donuts! She paid a lot for this. I have grand plans to have a little coffee bar.

I started a new book today very sweet, again about England WW2

As long as the deer stay out my gardens, they are looking pretty good.

I have to tell you my geraniums are doing so well after wintering them over. This is one of 4 pots!

This is how they started!! Crazy right?

My garden flox is in bloom and it smells so nice.

This is the back yard and all the burning bushes so green and pretty, right?

Fall is that you??? To early go away for another month at least.

Yes, I have been sighing a lot lately.
Husband has been sick AGAIN! He really over did the family vacation. No one else got sick. He went to the Dr and had tests
to make sure all is well. He is on an antibiotic and seems to be on the mend.
We got our annual house insurance bill it went up 35 percent! We have never made a claim. Our light bill starting August will go up 50 percent, and lord knows what the heating bill will be we have not been offered any prebuy as yet. I know you are all facing the same thing. I met my friend for drinks and apps last Tue. We always have one drink each order 2 apps and split them. Our bill is usually around 25.00 each This time we each had to pay 33.00 each (includes tip)
That is why we do not go out much at all. My friend and I used to meet often, and husband and I went out weekly. We have not done either much at all.
When I think about retiring another bill hits me in the face. And I know you are all in the same boat but oh it is a leaky boat.
***
I hope your summer is a good one. The weather could not be better.
We do need some rain and we are going into some humid weather but nowhere near as bad the rest of you have had.
Have a wonderful week!

Your gardens and yard look wonderful. I have been trying to add more plants in ours, lots more to go.
Prices are just crazy, glad we got our cars all set, would hate to buy one now. We got solar and it was not cheap, but the cost is the same as the bill for now, so when things go up, we will be in a better place.

Wowza...that's more than a "start"....more like a grand finale! Breville are top of the line. I have never broken down and gotten one...but I do so love a good cappuccino or macchiato. My son gave me a Nespresso that has a steamer and I have used it several times, but it does not work well at all. You have to fill the pitcher so full of milk for just one cup and given the steaming process, the milk doesn't keep long even though refrigerated... and the cup is lukewarm at best. I always have to microwave it and that somewhat spoils the whole experience LOL. If I had more counter space, I might consider upgrading, but since I'm the only one who drinks coffee, it seems like a waste. And those geraniums...WOW!!! Did they get that big last year?? I usually jam mine in with other plantings so mine never really grow huge (well, and our very brief growing period has some blame as well). I am so trying this though. ~Robin~

Your yard is a beautiful retreat! Everything is more expensive here too (Canada). But we were in NC last month and found their prices crazy too. It’s hard to be a bit more kind and loving to everyone when the stress of finances is on us but I am gonna try.

I'm also fearful of the propane fill up this winter. Last I checked the tank was 50% full so would have an extra charge for a small delivery. Yet wonder if having that surcharge now with prices as they are going to be cheaper than what the cost of propane will be when I need it?
Inquiring minds want to know if the coffee bar will be in your home or a small business?

Wow, that cappuccino maker is pretty cool. I am sure you will figure out how to use it and enjoy it. I hope your husband continues to get better. Yes, prices are going up here in Utah too. It's everywhere. Thinking about and planning for retirement is pretty overwhelming. We are there too. We told our youngest son that he needs to hurry and finish his college degree because we won't be able to help him much when when retire. He is paying his tuition and housing now, but we help with a few things when he needs it. I tried to winter my geraniums like that, but I must of done something wrong because none of them came back and I have no geraniums this year. The rest of my garden is doing pretty well. I love your sign. Have a good Sunday. See you again soon!

Wow, what luck to get that very expensive machine for free. I hope that you can get the instructions online.

I never drink Caopchinos but some in my family do.

Wow, your flowers are doing so good and I can't believe how nice your Geraniums are doing. You certainly have a green thumb.

I hope your husband is feeling better. Covid can really play havoc with the bodies of some people. It did with my granddaughter's husband. He still can't work as he is left weakened.

Take care, hugs,
Julia

Prices are absolutely insane. My electric monthly budget went up about 50% months ago. I shop often at Aldi's and everything there is more. I don't know how a family can afford to live.
Prayers for hubby!!! He needs to get healthy and stay healthy.
I am not a coffee drinker, but whenever I pass DD, I am amazed at the cars in line, usually backed up in to the street. People spend some serious $$ going there daily. I am sure you will find instruction on how to use the new to you machine!

Where are you all? I really like your yard. I thought our price increases here in NE Calif. were bad, but yours are worse! I too am worried about heating this winter. Lat winter I kept the downstairs 65 and the up stairs 67 (two degrees made all the difference for a shower :) ) and my bills were still around $600/month. My son, who delivers fuel, says I should be prepared for $1,000 bills, but that is way beyond my budget! Colleen

I'd check the Breville site first for a manual. It seems many manufacturers don't print full manuals at all now. The IP I got a couple of years ago was full of safety and "do not do!" things, but the actual usage and error information was very basic.
I'm not looking forward to our propane fills (1 for house, 1 for shop) either. We haven't (yet?) been hit by huge electric rate increases. I haven't eaten out, even fast food, in months. It's been longer since I've been in a restaurant. On the good side, I'm working to be more careful what does come into the house, and to eat what does come in before it goes bad.
Your yard is very pretty, though the burning bush gives me a twitch. Then again, maybe it's not invasive where you live? We had a few and they got winter killed a few years ago, but I'm pulling up volunteers from seed all over one bed. I'm sure there are some in other spots I haven't found yet. Your geraniums are gorgeous.

congrats on your new cappacchino machine that does look expensive. we got our prebuy for the woods house back end of may-we so need to get that sold but it's just too hot for us right now to do much.
your garden is lovely-how do you winter over your geranium? I had a beautiful plant til the deer decided to eat it-can't believe that haha.
hoping america first candidates can take over the house this november only way to begin to put the breaks on the craziness.
have a good week hugs

I am so sorry your husband got sick again. What a lovely coffee maker. That is incredible. Your gardens are lovely and I was so surprised how expensive it has got where you live. We just got back from my daughters and even though for them it was expensive, it was so cheap compared to what we pay here in Commie Ca. We got gas in Arizona because its two dollars cheaper from when you cross the border into California. Its nice to be home though. I hope your husband gets well now or is well by now.

I'm sorry your husband is sick. Yup. Prices up everywhere. I'd be mad except that it's global and no one country's fault. AARP just had an article on great ways to save in many categories. I think I might share some of them on the blog when I get post-desperate!

Hope your hubby gets better. Love al of your flowers and plants. I kinda wish Autumn was here so the temps would go down. We need rain badly too. Yes unfortunately everything is going up. I just hope out gift shop makes it through this recession. Sales have been slow. Hoping Halloween and Christmas will be better for us. I feel so bad for small mom and pop shops who are struggling as well. I know I am working another year because I cannot afford to retire yet either. Sucks. Janice

Your gardens are so lovely and I can just imagine those burning bushes glowing bright red in Autumn. I'm going to try and save my geraniums this winter. We'll see how it goes! I know prices are going through the roof. My food bills are up and it's just hubby and me and I can't imagine having to feed a big family. I'm glad I'll be canning veggies from the garden for the winter. Good luck with the coffee maker. I don't drink coffee but I hope you can get the instructions and enjoy your free gift! I hope your hubby gets to feeling better soon! Have a good week Cathy. Oh, we must be on the same book vibe..I've been reading WWII novels also. The Alice Network is a good read.

Lots of news in this post, Cathy, but unfortunate news about your husband becoming ill again and hope the antibiotics make him feel better soon. Daughter #2 has a similar coffee unit, might even be a Breville, and she really enjoys it. As others have suggested you might be able to find an instruction guide on the manufacturer's website or a contact number.

We all "hear" you on the increasing costs. In a way, it makes us glad that we signed a 2-year lease for our apt rental because we are "safe" until next August. We pay our own utility bill, electric, so we too are facing higher costs (sigh). Even though we enjoy going out for a meal, now and then, we are staying home more often except if we are on a road trip. We spent last week in Maine and I was amazed to find a $4 charge for coffee in a local diner, made me glad I had ordered only water!
