I know we are day 6 into Sept but this is my first post.
And so far I am loving September.
My friend and I took another hike this is a new one for us.
It was steeper than what I have been on lately. But the view was amazing. This is Newfound lake, a very pretty lake.
And as we started going up we found this, a tree that has mostly turned. We have been very dry this year so I was not sure how our colors would be, but if this is an indication then they will be great!
coming back around the pond beaver activity. they miss judged when they chewed it down not near enough to the pond or they just didn't want it.
My grandfather use to talk about this in the fall.
I have no idea if it is true and I have not seen one yet this year but if I do I will let you know at the end of this coming winter.
I work in a book store and most days people are looking for this book. Plus friends and family told me how wonderful it was.
It was the most depressing book and not a good read for these times.
and I found it not believe able. I just did not like this book! I have no idea if it was my mind set or what but it was not for me. Did you read it? Tell me your thoughts.
We are in true fall weather warm sunny breezy days with chilly nights just perfect! I hope it lasts for a very long time. We have had a couple of fires in the fire pit and listen to the very happy peepers.
My newest rug. I am not happy with the mouth of the pumpkin a work in progress. Most nights I sit beside my husband and hook while we watch tv. I put this down to take a picture and he looks at me and says "when did you start that?" lol. truly our chairs are about 3 feet apart.

I am finally going for a haircut tomorrow I have not had a haircut in 6 months. I have let it go gray something I never thought I would do but after the haircut I will decide if I like it or not.
Have a wonderful week!

For decades a neighboring town has had a woolly bear festival. A HUGE affair. Sadly this year it won't be happening. No big surprise there.
I wish I had pretty grey hair, but mine is just a mousy brown/grey color. Good luck to you.
What a fun rug. Too funny about hubby :)
Beautiful post.
I agree...Where the Crawdads Sing didn’t work for me. Depressing for sure. I made myself finish it hoping for it to improve, but it never did...just don’t understand the hype...maybe group think? I also found it unbelievable.
Happy September......I’ve heard the myth of the caterpillar too I always wondered if it was true.......I always though working in a book store would be fun, I love books....I did read where crawdads sing I enjoyed it myself......I have a list of books I’m excited to read I’ll need to check my local library......love the rug you’re working .....fun fun....
Blessings
Rhonda
Going to be a nice Halloween rug and is funny your husband never noticed. But then that's a husband for you. Sadly I've still got that ugly mousy brown with grey hair too and have my roots done. If my hair was a beautiful grey or white I wouldn't spend the money.
Hello. Wow - such a great job you have! Working in a bookstore would be lots of fun - at least in theory. I read Where the Crawdads Sing a few months ago, and I like you, I didn't particularly like it. I have friends who thought is was the just greatest book ever, but me, not so much. I love the pictures from your hike. That is a beautiful lake. Hope you have a good week.
I am so glad you said something about that book. Its recommenced to me on all of my book lists and I just knew it would be depressing. I don't know why but I did. I have during this time went back to my own bookshelf because I just can't do sad right now. In fact, I have read 30 Dick Francis books. Light and always a good ending.
I haven't had my hair cut either. Its still so long for the wait to get haircuts here.
I love that rug. I always love Witches Shoes. That would be a beautiful lake to hike to see. I loved its name. It made me laugh, like oh look we just found a new lake. We used to have woolly worms my grand parents said the same thing. I can't remember now if it was ever true. Farmers Almanac says it is. I was reading today that up along our one river, the upper Kern They had 50,000 people up there camping. I just can't believe that but the pictures were just crazy. Its rough camping no water, no trash cans and its for day use only, but people were camping the weekend. I just can't imagine what it will look like tomorrow. Have a great start to your September. I also read today we have had 900 fires since August 8th. So looking at the beauty around you is just incredible to me. A great post. Oh I loved seeing the tree the beavers chewed down. We have them there and they have to keep relocating them because they go into the park and cut down the trees. Go Beavers!
I enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing would read it again. Your Halloween rug is awesome & totally understand husband response. This means you can buy more rug patterns to hook he'll think its the same rug (lol) Good luck with the haircut....
Rugs and Pugs mentioned the Woolly Bear festival that's here in Ohio near the lake. I've heard of this story about the predicting the winter weather but never can remember how the woolly bears looked when it's winter! I think I saw one crawling across the road the other day. I haven't read that book and I don't think I will since it sounds depressing. I read an Oprah Winfrey one she highly recommended a few years ago and it was AWFUL...so I will trust your opinion here! I love seeing your area and how beautiful it is. I'm sure the Fall colors will not disappoint this year. Heck, don't we all deserve a lovely Fall after this horrid year? I'm planning a trip next year out East to leaf peep. Something to look forward too! Have a good week!
I too have heard about that wooly black and orange caterpillar predicting what kind of winter we will have. I haven' seen any caterpillar yet but I hope it will be a mild winter.
I read reviews on that book and it doesn't sound like a book I would enjoy either. To each his own...
My husband doesn't notice anything like that either. It's a man thing. lol.
I too enjoy the cooler fall-ish weather.
Stay well and safe.
Hugs, Julia
What a beautiful lake. We also looked for the wooly caterpillars on the farm to see what kind of Winter we would have. I always believed it. Janice
lol! And I thought it was just MY husband that "doesn't pay attention".... ;-)
We are getting close to fall here. Some days are perfect, but then the humidity returns to say "Not so fast, Summer is not behind you yet!".... ;-)
Beautiful place for hikes... I think I would walk more if I was living in the country. Enjoy and be safe!
Well, now you have me curious about that book....I have not read it, and really haven't heard much about it. I finally read "The Prince of Tides"...(I know...old, old, book...but it never struck me as something I would want to read...until an author I love recommended it.... I loved it...if only for the beautiful way Pat Conroy writes. And, ummm.....working in a bookstore would be pure trouble for me. I'd end up owing them money each and every payday...I know it LOL. Your lakes and views there are incredible. Here, it seems that there are houses or cabins/cottages on each and every piece of shore. We have privacy where we are with the island for the most part...but nothing like yours there. I like the toothy grin on your Jack...and ha! My husband wouldn't have a clue if/when I had something new on my frame....even though "The Beast" stretches well beyond my frame, chair, and ottoman. Glad you're enjoying the cool down.... Here, Summer left with n'ary a farewell....just packed her bags and up and left. Two sweatshirts and the heat on...and fire going in the fireplace. It's gonna be a long winter me thinks. And, oh...yes!! My mother used the woolies to predict the winters the same way....and it tended to be accurate. (Although she also gauged it by how fat they were overall....and other ways....some of which I think I've referred to....) Happy September ~Robin~
