The Good Old Summer Time

My gardens are in full bloom. But the horrid heat is getting the
best of it. We have more heat this summer than most of the other summers put together.

My tomatoes are starting to turn red and when they do I will have some canning to do.

It was finally cool enough to make a pie one day last week and it was delish!

This was my harvest today. yumm we had pasta with pesto
and some grilled chicken so good with sliced tomatoes.

Not the greatest picture but click on it to see it better but it is one of my own design stair risers. It is fireflies. most nights we sit on the porch and wait for them to show up.

I am still working part time but they want me to go full time starting next week not sure I am ready. Our covid numbers are still low. Masks are mandatory to enter our store I hear a sneeze and look up, a man had removed his mask to sneeze. I gave him the evil eye and shook my head he beat feet out of the store. Some people are just so awful!

We are still staying close to home so not much else to talk about.
Have a wonderful week!

I love that firefly stair riser. I do miss seeing them. One of my joys when I was a kid was sitting on the porch and watching them at night. Your garden is lovely and so was is your pie. I hope you have a lovely week.

I'm surprised how well my garden is growing, too....awful heat that has sidelined me inside, yet, those tomatoes and squash seem to be thriving!!! And how funny....a pie is in my future today, too!!! Yours looks yummy. A friend brought me some peaches. My mouth is watering already.

Your flowers are still beautiful despite a hot summer. A lot of mines have been eaten by deer but luckily, I have lots that are also deer resistant.

Your blueberry pie is so tempting. Yaya was also tempting with her baking...

I love your fireflies in the night stair riser. You have a lot done on it. I can't wait to see when you will attach all your stair risers.

I feel bad that they are calling you to work full time when you prefer to work part-time. Oh., that man in the store...Some people are total idiots and only think of themselves.
Stay safe and well.
Hugs, Julia

Our heat is fickle...it comes and goes....with some nasty storms in between. Right now we are enjoying absolutely perfect summer weather (upper 70's for highs, a breeze, and no humidity), although we have flood warnings and some areas have already been flooded. I really love your fire flies riser....I am betting it is going to be one of your most favorite. Hoping your week is off to a great start! ~Robin~

I guess it is hard to get out of this heat, maybe Alaska, lol.
I do wish I had done a garden this year, the store produce is horrible lately.

When my son and family came from Oregon this month the best thing my Grandkiddos loved were the fireflies...they don't have them out west. It was great fun for them to run and catch them and they aren't little kids but enjoyed it anyway! You and I were channeling our pie making desires! I made one too and it was very good! I know when the tomatoes are all ready I'll be busy canning. I will at least have the time finally to do it! I hope your back to work is OK and I'm truly amazed at how stupid people are to take off the mask and then cough or sneeze..see it all the time. Take care Cathy!

Ummm....removed his mask to sneeze?!?!? That's kinda defeating the purpose! Sheeeesh! Glad he took your glare seriously and got the heck outta there!
Fireflies are one of my favorite things of summer....so peaceful so sit and watch all the tiny lights.
Mmmmmmm.... blueberry pie! We are currently fighting a battle with the birds pecking our tomatoes... I hope we get to enjoy at least one! :-(

I am so jealous you have home grown tomatoes! Where I would have to plant them they would just end up being food for the animals :(
Hopefully your humidity has broken and fingers crossed you aren't back to work full time!!!

Garden looks great and so does that pie. I can't wait for my tomatoes to ripen, still green here in Canada.
