Goodbye August

I am sitting on the porch enjoying the last few hours of August. The peepers are loud but it is warm and wonderful wrapped in the darkness of the night, goodbye summer I will miss you.
I thought I would show you a bit of the flooding that happened with Irene. This is a amphitheater where summer plays are put on. It is small but it is all underwater except one step. There is a river that runs behind it usually a fun place for the kids to swim or just float.
And this is what it looked like right after the river receded.
I did get to the thrift today before work. This is a sweet child size apron. With what I think is called chicken scratch embroidery Christmas trees.
I picked up this sweet handmade pot holder. I was going to collect only the red but this yellow was so cute. I am going to hand wash it and hope it gets a little brighter.
and these two little bowls. I think they would look nice on a night stand for your change or jewelery.
and 20 yards of hot pink ribbon. I think it would look great on some little girls first birthday presents.
Have a great holiday weekend stay safe.

I'm glad that the water receded. That was quite the storm. The river in front of my house is still high but we didn't get any flooding.

I love the design on those two bowls. You can always use them for something.

I went to the thrift store too and came home with a few easter decorations and two nice metal mesh covers to keep flies off my fresh baked pies.

The flooding is so devastating, but I'm glad you made it OK..I think that apron would look really cute on someone's sweet Grandkiddo! The bowls are cute and I think if they were filled with icecream they would be perfect...have a good Labor Day!

Glad to see the flooding didn't last long! It's amazing how this storm affected so many in the north!

That is a lot of water! Great thrift store finds. I have been picking up pot holders like that also, not sure what I am going to do with them, any ideas?

I was wondering how you managed during Irene. My prayer stool was worn out for all of the East Coast.
It is amazing how fast water can rise. That is the one thing that keeps me from moving back to my hometown on the coast of Texas.
Love your finds especially those blue bowls. The pattern is really pretty.
Thanks honey for leaving me such a sweet comment. As always I appreciate you

Wow water is something - it almost looked like it just covered grass - not the whole area like that! Great finds - thrifting is always fun!
