Was it Saved for A Special occasion?

We had a beautiful weekend! and as you can see we still have a lot of snow but I raked out my rock wall garden you can see some things popping up. It was so nice to spend time outside.
Saturday bright and early I met a friend and we went to a fund raiser rummage sale. There was so much stuff and I could have bought a lot more but what I got was pretty good. First some handmade N.H. pottery.
The sweetest flower pictures and of course the little dish shaped like an acorn.
My favorite find is this china. It is a complete place setting for 8 with sugar and creamer and a serving platter. no chips, nicks or breaks. It is called Ever Yours bridal blue. when I see a set in that good of condition I think Did a young bride of the 50's get this set?  Saved it for special occasions? And then when it was time for her kids to get it they all thought it old fashion. I try to not save things like this for special occasions. When my grandmother passed away she had so many things she set aside for "good" She should have celebrated each day with her "good things". My plan was to sell this set, but each time I look at it I smile. I just love the blue and the name speaks to me. So I think it will live at my house for awhile and I will hold a special occasion so I can use it:)

Everyone had such wonderful answers to the other questions so here is another to think about.
I think I would choose a rich family to see if money really can't buy happiness.
Welcome to my new followers! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and spring came to your town.

I love your new dishes! I like to use the "good stuff" anytime, too! I especially like the acorn dish...perfect!

Ok, I guess I'd like to live in a very artistic family, where everyone is really creative and they have family art or music shows and live a cool, rich, inspired life! (Only my current little family would have to come along!)

I love your finds. I especially like your blue dishes.

If I had to live with another family for a year it would be my in-laws. I think it would be interesting to pick up all my mother-in-laws gardening knowledge. I would like to be a green thumb I think!?!

It was a great weekend here too. I walked around to assess the flower beds but didn't get ambitious enough to rake them :)
Love your new dishes. Every once in awhile I dig out one of grandma's china tea cups and drink with my pinky up!
Hmmm, I think living with a rich family for a year wouldn't be too terrible! Maybe a Kissing Cousin to George Clooney?? A year in a villa in Italy?? Nice.....

I love the rock garden and the pottery. I would choose to live in a cottage in England near where James Herriott wrote All creatures Great and Small.

Hi, am new to your blog. If you decide to sell them let me know, I have a very old camper we are renovating and they would look really sweet in it!ha ha.
I think I would like to live with a french family. To learn their customs and of course to see their grand country.

Still a lot of snow up there. After tomorrow I bet it will all melt. I would want to live with the Royal Family just to see what they are really like!! Plus the Wedding is in a couple of weeks.

How do you DO it?? You are an amazing treasure collector!! One thing after another. Great finds!!
I would choose to live on a Carribean Island in a house on a hill over looking the clear blue sea.

I love the blue dishes..blue is a fav color of mine, but I've not used it for a bit and I'm getting the itch to decorate with it again. I think I would stay with a family in Greece so I could learn the language and surprise my Mom! If that didn't work out, I'd check on Tom Selleck and see if he needed som help with his avocado ranch...

Your impression of the dishes reminds me of when my MIL passed away and I was helping grandpa go thru her things ~ pretty nighties, pretty towels and dishtowels all wrapped in tissue in dresser drawers, saved for 'something special' ~ it was sad to me. I use everything all the time ~ every day that we're here on earth is a 'special occasion'!! Have fun planning yours, Julie!

Love your rummage sale finds. The acorn container must have just been waiting for you. If I could live with any family, I would love to go back in time and live with my grandma, I lost her too early and didn't get to learn as much as I wanted too from her. Spinning was next, but then she got sick. Miss her bunches.

Great finds! If I could live with another family it would be the family of a friend I had in high school. The mom of the family just had so much enthusiasm for life that she made every day full of fun!

Sorry Cathy, I had read your post but was called away before I could leave a comment. I would choose my Mom if I could have her back.
Great treasure hunt as usual.

To answer your question, No , these are grown in the house under lights. I don't plant my tender plants outside until all danger of frost has passed , around the beginning of June but I can plant peas and onions and spinach now and seeds that can take the cold or frost. JB
