Snow In May??

Yesterday we drove 2 hours to Maine for the burial of an amazing lady and the mother of a very good friend. This is what her lovely home looks out on the beautiful ocean. She had a good long life. 

Today we went to our dump (aka transfer station) and found several rolls of Christmas paper. I grabbed one and left the rest. 

We are in for a crazy storm starting tomorrow morning.

A nor'easter which will bring driving rain and high winds with record breaking cold.

and we are on the edge of getting snow. uggg!

So, I have covered my just planted plants and prayed.

We have been so cold and windy we have had the fireplace going every night.

I want to thank you for such wonderful comments on my porch I do love it. Now I just need porch sitting weather.

And The Rain Came Down...

The flowering crab was just blooming, and the rain came down in sheets. It washed most of the blooms off sadly. There was sharp lighting and thunder. It was when the cold air hit our warm humid air. We are now in the 50s for most of the week. (We were in the 80s and a bit humid.)  

My lady slippers survived thankfully! It has 8 blooms on it.

On Friday I cleaned all the winter dust and dirt off our porch. 

And now it is already for our summer enjoyment. 

How I love this porch we have morning coffee here and dinner most nights. And lounge around whenever we want.

I have much to be grateful for. 

I went in the rain to the plant sale put on by the garden club.

I purchased a new pair of leather gloves, and a half apron made of linen also new. For just a few dollars. 

Since it was a dreary drizzly day, I decided to make French onion soup. I got a deal on some short ribs that I put in also.

And oh, was it tasty!!! 

I pulled some Rhubarb to make a simple syrup to add to drinks this summer. I will add it to some prosecco or some seltzer for a cool summer treat.

I got a walk in this morning before the afternoon rain. The mosquitos were very thick, so I did those 3 miles in record time. 

I will end with this downed tree. When it grew it twisted. I find it so interesting. I have no idea what kind of tree it is.

We Interrupt This Gardening Season

We were on our way home from another band concert.

The sun was just setting Squam Lake, lovely. 

Tonight on the way home from going out to dinner.

And not to be out done the moon was amazing this week.

I could not get the amazing orange color it was!

We bought gift certificates for 25 percent off earlier this year

and we decided to use one tonight. This is chicken parm in an egg roll! Just amazing!!!!! We also had Meatballs, but we ate them too fast lol. 

My crab tree is coming into full bloom. I had to stop gardening to catch up on housework and go to rug hooking. 

Back to that tomorrow. My gardens are looking so good now.

The Rain Has Stopped (for now)

Everything is becoming so green and wonderful!

I got a couple of walks in but because of the rain that was it. 

I had a 100.00 gift certificate for a local plant nursery.

It didn't go far but I got some nice plants to put in my shade garden.

This is a stone painted like a piece of pie. 

The little church here in town had their first sale of the season.

I didn't find much but this basket to stand my rugs up in. And for 2.00 a steal.

Lady liberty is hung but she will move to the porch when I get a chance to give it a good clean. 

Progress on my rug. I am stumped on how to hook all the grass.

I have a rug hooking class on Wed I will see what Pam says.

My Sweet B had a co-op band concert today.

18 different small middle schools came together to play as one.

What wonderful music they played. 

We went to an opening of a coffee shop just a few miles from us.

It was raining and we needed the break so out we went. The coffee was good the breakfast sandwich was good. But the pastries not so much. So, I made some blueberry scones for my husband today.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day to each mother out there have a wonderful day!!!

Soggy

We have been so cold and soggy we had the fireplace going all night last night.

 We have only seen glimpses of the sun. Not much better until Sunday

While cleaning out I found my egg coddler 30 seconds and the perfect egg. I think I will keep it!

We went out to lunch it has been so dreary we needed a break. I tried the drink nuts and berries it was good but way to strong for me. I have not enjoyed dining out much lately. There are so many crazy added expenses. 

They added a convience fee and a cc fee. Over 3.00 in added fees. 

My friend and I went to a tasting. And these were tasty. I will drink them this summer with friends♡

Well dinner is done and the kitchen is swept,  time for pjs and a bit of TV.

Kentucky Derby Time

This is my back yard. When I first started this post, I was going to use a quote. I thought I deleted it, but it seems this picture went over the top of it. Now I cannot delete it unless I delete the whole post. I have never had anything like this happen before anyone out there that knows how to fix it?

 

I glued up a fancy hat...

And headed out for a fun party! Not sure why I am leaning in this picture, but we had so much fun. The hostess had mint julips, fun and games with door prizes and great little treat bags. 

Rain for the next few days. I have done some housework and now I will sit and hook this afternoon.

The rain is needed for the gardens; everything is the bright lime green that you wait for all winter.

Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit for good luck the whole month!

The Gardens and yard are coming to life. 

And while spring is springing the mountains still have snow. 

That is what I keep telling myself as I get our yard and house into shape for the summer.

Beltane, it the beginning of summer for the celts.

It is celebrated in many ways with fire and maypoles, but my favorite is through creativity. I need to get back to my rug hooking and painting.

The spring chores have taken up most of my time.
