What A Difference!

Less than a week ago we had bees visiting flowers and 80 degrees.

We have had 2 hard frosts and the days do not get above 60 degrees now. I cut back my hydrangea, well what I could reach. Makes a great fall decoration. I purchased no mums or pumpkins so voila!

And speaking of cold the snow guns are going for the ski areas. This is Bretton Woods a bit north of us they plan to open for Thanksgiving or sooner.

Besides yard work and housework, I have been stitching in the evenings. I still have a bit more to do on my rug, but Halloween is looming not sure I will get it done for this year or not.

Husband tested this morning and he is negative!
They pushed his back surgery back a week because of the covid. So, from here on in we will both be very careful to try and not get anything else before his surgery.
****
We will not get much of the storm coming up the coast this time we are too far north they said. Which is sad as we could really use that rain.
It is sunny and blustery today, so it makes it feel colder than the 58 it is. We will tuck in and watch the football game.
Have a wonderful week.

Our last day in western Massachusetts, we woke up to a hard frost.
Hydrangeas must like New England weather. There were so many hydrangea trees loaded with huge blooms.
Good luck to hubby on his surgery! Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I am trying to catch up on blog reading. We are also enjoying cooler, and more fall-like temperatures here in the West. I hope that your husband's surgery goes well. Have a good week.

It's really cooled off here too, but today it's sunny and I just came back from a nice long walk in 62 degree weather. Perfect!
I hope you all stay healthy and the surgery can be done!

No hard frost here, yet but it is definitely chilly at night which makes the blanket and comforter on the bed quite nice. Still refusing to turn on heat.
DE and MD beaches are having 10-15 foot high waves with the storm moving up the coast. Have had some rain and it is very windy here but I am on hour inland where most of the rain is centered.

YAY on your husband testing negative. I know you are relieved. We had a mini frost last week, but not a hard one. Temps in the 60's currently but chilly overnight now. The trees have not turned full color yet either. Am hoping they do and not just drop like last year. Janice

We are still around 80. I hope your husband stays well for surgery - I apologize - what kind is he going to have?

Welcome the fall to your neck of the woods! 2 hard frosts and snow making? Whoa, that's fast after the 80's of the previous weeks. We've had some 30 plus temps but no frost. It's still very dry but maybe some rain next week. I worry too about the well but hopefully some rain will come more than once every month! I'm glad your hubby is Covid free and prayers that his surgery goes well. Take care Cathy

Dried Hydrangeas make a lovely display! Good news that your husband tested negative. Stay well, both of you.

A negative test for hubby is great. Hope the surgery goes ahead according to the new schedule.

We just had our first frost last night. I'm surprised it took so long as the rest of the area froze several weeks ago. Good luck with surgery.

Love your hydrangea display. I usually gather some and put them on my (so-called) porch but these past couple of weeks the winds have been horrendous and I know they'd be gone almost as soon as I put them out. We've had hard frosts and, this past week, several hard freezes. Today is pleasant and in the mid-60's...I was hoping to get bedding on the line but the Asian beetles are awful and I know they'd be covering whatever I put out. Glad hubby has kicked the crud and that it only threw things off by a week. Fingers crossed that he'll stay healthy between now and then.

It sounds like we’re having the same weather-last week on Monday it was 80° then on Tuesday it had dropped to 60 with frost warnings at night. It’s been in the 60s low 70s for a week now, and at least for me, it’s perfect! I love the hydrangeas, is that a vintage cooler? I have one that’s similar- I’ll have to dust it off and follow your inspiration. Thanks!

Yes to cooler autumn weather here too. Nashua had a day of rain and chilly temps on Monday with a rainy am forecast for today. Glad your husband is recovered and hope the surgery goes well.

Hey Cathy. Glad he doesn't have the'vid. Hope he feels all the way better soon. Love the pumpkin and that you saved money using your cut back flowers. Dang, look at you go. Love it all.

The change in the season has indeed arrived quickly here in Budapest. Although the sun has warmth, the autumnal colours everywhere leave us in. no doubt that summer has passed by. We wish the very best for your husband's surgery.

So glad your husband is negative! I do love that hyrdrangea arrangement -- I do the same kind of thing when I cut them back and dry them. Weather is changing here too!
