Cheeseburger Chowder
I do not have a picture of this sorry and I make this by the seat of my pants lol. But here goes....
I lb of hamburger and 1 small onion chopped cook until no more pink.
Add beef broth to cover hamburger and onion by an inch or two.
add one pk of onion soup mix and a couple of dashes of Worchester sauce.
I then add a bit of instant potato to thicken. (Try a tablespoon at a time) If you have left over mashed potato that works also.
Now I add whatever cheese I have grated or chopped fine. At least 1to11/2 cups. I also add about 2 oz of cream cheese in to melt. Now I add about a 1/2 to 1 cup of cream or milk and if needs to be thickened I add a heaping tsp of cornstarch to the cream before adding it.
My husband likes it thick so if you prefer thinner then you do not need to add the cornstarch.
I wait until the end to add any salt or pepper after tasting.
Truly you cannot fail at this, and it is a great way to use up cheese and maybe left over potatoes.

Let me know if you make any of these and how it went. Have a wonderful week.

Thank you! I am always looking for good recipes to try! Have a good week!
Oooh, these all sound good!
I rarely bake anymore since it is just me to eat it. On rare occasion I will bake zucchini bread, carrot or banana bread and give half to my son and DIL. Even then it is rare.
I'm like your hubby, I like thick rich soups.
I make a similar meatloaf. You can’t beat the old recipes!
Cheeseburger chowder sounds yummy!
Hey Cathy! I love that you posted these. I use oat flour in bread all the time, in fact, true story, I'm making flat bread now with oats and strong flour. I love that yours makes two loaves. One for eating and if wanted, one for freezing. Sometimes I freeze homemade sliced bread to use later in the air fryer.
Wishing you a fun Halloween week with a great big side of boogie boogie. 🎃
Oh thank you Cathy! I’ll be making these this week. I really appreciate you taking the time to post the recipes. Tried and true are always the best. I remember my grandmother’s bread and rolls-I’ve never found anything close - a pinch of this a dash of that I suppose, and I was too young to realize I should ask for her recipes…the search continues.
The oatmeal bread looks delicious. I can't use yeast now, really miss baking breads. My grandmother has the best soft molasses cookies, wish I had her recipe. Looks like you have been keeping busy and I am sure you are happy to see all the foliage crowds disappear.
Thanks I love the older recipes
Recipes that someone you know (even if it is only virtually) and recommend are always the best. Your cookie recipe is somewhat similar to my mom's. They were the most amazing cookies. She always used leftover bacon grease for some of the shortening and they were the best!
They all sound Good!!! Thanks!
Happy week!
hugs
Donna
Thanks for sharing the recipe. I just love molasses cookies and like you, they remind me of my childhood. I'm always looking fora good recipe.
Great recipes. Will be baking up these. TFS Janice
great recipes...i love these old ones!!
I just made some gingersnaps. That oatmeal bread looks wonderful! I will be trying it in the near future. Thanks for sharing.
I've found some great recipes in old church cookbooks.
Nothing better than church cookbooks! Those recipes look like winners and I'm going to try them, and I promise to send you a critique! Have a wonderful last week of the best month ever!
The Cheeseburger Soup looked so delicious 😋 but unfortunately it would be a bit off our healthy eating plan right now so I made a vegetable soup instead.
Yum. Did you make the bread? Any pictures to share?
