We just get the snow cleaned up and it starts to rain!
making our steep driveway a bobsled run! I just watched the news and the worst is yet to come. I would have prefered snow this is a mess!
So I have stayed in and made cookies. Ugg doing to many things at once.
But in the end all was well. I have made 5 different kinds and will take the sugar cookies to be decorated with Sweet B.
I also cut up a few oranges and made a pot of soup.
So I have made good use of a rainy cold day.
Now on to what I got at the church sale.
This lovely large hand woven wool throw. I have cleaned it, now it is lovely, soft and warm.
This jacket is Ralph Lauren and is perfect for spring or fall or if you want to dress up a pair of jeans. The leg warmers are for my winter walks or snowshoeing.
Croft and Barrow vest. I wear a vest most days in the winter.
A holiday dish towel and a cookie cookbook.
And at a thrift store I got this amazing real down jacket.
Such great deals on this trip. After i got home I cleaned out my closet of all the clothes that no longer fit. I lost 50lbs during covid and have held onto the old clothes just in case. I have finally cleaned it all out.
When I got home a sweet friend had sent me a set of cookie cutters.
I was just saying I wanted a small star cutter.
My grand Sweet B has been stitching for some time and she has done a pair of jeans. Such a great job!!!
Bravo Sweet B for being handy with a needle.
I will leave you with the recipe for the cookies above.
It is from King Arthur Flour.
*****
Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Our snow was melting and then we got ice, and now snow is coming down again! Uuugh!
Your cookies look so pretty and good.
You got some great deals! And good for you for keeping off that 50 pounds, that's a huge accomplishment.
Your granddaughter did a marvelous job on those jeans!
You sure did a lot considering all that ice - I would rather have snow as well. Lots of nice clothes too. I was going to ask you for a copy of the recipe for the cookies. Anyway you can send it to me - not sure if I can see it the way it is posted. Would love to make. Be careful in the ice!
Winter is slow to show up here in our neck of the woods; makes me worry what will come in Jan. and Feb. It seems you will be warmly dressed for those wintery walks through your woods.
Ice is no fun anywhere. I dont think you made orange soup did you? I think I read that wrong. LOL I did not make one dozen cookies and I so wanted to make some. Just no time. Maybe when I am on vacation will make some. Janice
Lucky you, losing all that weight from Covid. We are having rain on top of our snow and now it's slush. It will all freeze to ice later tonight.
Oh I do love a pot of homemade soup and I need to gather ingredients for my next one. Love your new vest and I too wear a vest during the winter. So I actually have 3 layers on, lol.
We had rain today and again tomorrow. Temperature variation is crazy! From -17 C one day to +10.
Lots of great finds! Yeah for you.
Miss B takes after her grandma. So crafty and talented. The jeans are great fun.
Wow...reading about the rain and ice you and some of the commenters are experiencing makes me feel like I'm living on a completely different planet. We are currently at a -23ยบ windchill temp and it's only 8:30...supposed to get much lower through the night... BRRRR.... Wow - you did find some fantastic finds! Love the jacket and vest especially well and can see you in them perfectly. Lucky you for not only dropping that many pounds but keeping them off. Love Miss B's jeans. I used to stitch a lot on my clothes...then took up doing silk ribbon embroidery on my things. I know. sill have a half-done chambray shirt somewhere. (Not that I would remember even how to do it at this point most likely.) The Linzer cookies always look so festive I think. I should probably give them a whirl with the gf flour sometime. Just subbing out regular flour with measure-to-measure doesn't always have stellar results. So my holiday baking has definitely changed. ~Robin~
I often wear a vest like that in the winter and have several - all purchased at thrift stores. You found some great things. Wow - good for you losing all that weight! I hope you can dig out of all the snow. See you again soon.
You sure found some nice things at the church sale.
Most people gained weight during covid but you actually LOST weight. That's quite something.
Wow -- you have been so productive. Making the best of this bitter cold. I love that vest. Just yesterday, I was thinking that I really need a red vest. What a perfect thrift find. And your baking -- impressive. I need to get a start on that this weekend, maybe today. You are making the most of the holiday and I love every pic and purchase!
Lots of fun finds! I've been watching with amazement on FB the folks who sell thrift finds for big money to places like Posh Mark. You would make a killing with your thrift haul! I have that same holiday towel! Your cookies look yummy and Miss B has talent from her Grandma. Those jeans are so cute! Have a good weekend Cathy!
No snow here and thankfully no ice either. We had a daylong deluge of rain on Wednesday. Your driveway does look like it can be treacherous in nasty weather so staying indoors and making soup and cookies is a great plan. What bargains you found at the church sale. I would really like to cuddle up with that wool blanket too, Cathy.
i really enjoy baking during the holiday season. BUT, i too have to be careful not to do too much!! you got some very nice things at the church sale, good for you...thrifting is the way to go!!
