What I Bought

A not a very good picture of my rug. I still have work to do. I need to work on the deer antlers, change the sky color, and figure out the tree.

What I bought last Sat at the holiday open house.
This santa is a thick paper and is filled with balsam. Crazy I know but I love him.

This stitching kit. We call our grand sweet B so I thought of her.
And some rusty mini bells.

Wool thread and a piece of linen.

Oh save me from myself! I bought a rug pattern. I have enough patterns I will never get through them all. But this kept singing to me each time I passed it.
Today another beautiful day in the 70s. I went for a nice long walk and did a couple of loads of laundry and then made my first pork pie of the season (Tourtiere in the French Canadian world) The pork pie has as many recipes as there are families. Every family has their own spin on it. This is my husband's mother's recipe, I did not grown up eating pork pie. We were English, I ate mincemeat and really good fruit cake at the holidays.

Ok on to the last of the rugs at the rug show.

The loon and the fish rugs are my favorites.

I finished stitching my christmas tree. I need to cut it out and bind it and fill it with balsam.
I am still working on my sweater and hooking on my rug PHEW!
And I have not touched the applique quilt. There was a conversation yesterday at my hooking class, we were talking about hobbies. We are all grateful for them and talked about the wonderful friends we have made through our hobbies and the fun we have had.
****

I bought these at Aldi's this week. If you have one near you run don't walk to get a pk of these. I am not huge on store bought cookies but oh these. If you like gingerbread cookies these are the best!Thin and crispy, dip them in your tea perfect!

I hope you are taking care of you.
HUGS!

Your rug is totally fabulous! I love it. And your purchases were good ones. It sounds like a terrific venue. Loved all the finished pieces you showed. There's some beautiful work there. And the tourtiere looks wonderful. I made one once but not with pork. That sounds delicious -- I'd like that one!

That Santa is adorable! Your newest pattern reminded me of what I call myself. SABLE...meaning...Stash Accumulated Beyond Life Expectancy. LOL Janice

Your rug is coming along nicely and love the design, tho I'd never hook another narrow cut. There are two favorite rugs from the show, Barn by Sarah Jones and the Looking Glass ~ again, I admire the work but will never hook another narrow cut rug.

Those cookies look interesting. We do have an Aldi's. You sure did buy a lot of items to work on - you are getting ready for the winter. I have never ever had a meat pie but it looked pretty.

I so miss not having an Aldi store nearby any more especially now around the holidays they have a lot of good German items that Larry loves-One of his Grandma's was from Germany and the other from Russia or Hungry
awesome hooked rugs! us crafters-artisans can never have too many patterns-smiles.
My Grandma always made mince meat pies her Mom was from Germany I did not care for those but loved the history of those pies.

Those cookies look good. I wish we had Aldis here in Utah. We shopped there all the time when we lived in Illinois. I always enjoy seeing what you are up to. Have a good weekend. See you again soon!

Tourtiere is a favourite around here in the Acadian culture. We enjoy it too.

The rugs are lovely. The fish catch my eye. Lots of fishers in this family!

Hi Cathy! I had to go back and catch up on your posts and yes Blogger drives me crazy with comments and such. Your finds look amazing and so do those rugs! Those cookies from Aldi are delish and I remember my Mom getting those type of windmill cookies when I was young and I always loved them. I need to post as November is moving quite quickly! Have a good weekend!

I'd buy that balsam packed Santa in a heartbeat! Wonderful rugs. Prim Salt Box my fave. It's good to buy when.you go and have the opportunity. No shipping and you're supporting functions and vendors (that's my excuse anyway) Betty

Your rug has a lot going on. It looks amazing already. I love the rug show but that Tourtiere has my mouth watering. I make Tourtieres for the Holidays and give some away as gifts every year. Yumm.
Your hands are never idle. I haven picked up the hook and I need a new #4 cutting wheel. I've lost my MOJO.
Hugs, Julia

Tis (almost) the season for balsam and Santa, so a great buy. I went to a church holiday fair today and found several items from 25 cents to $2. A great way to spend a Saturday morning and lunch was also available for purchase. Thanks for the almond cookie recommendation. There is an Aldi's in nashua and this would be a "reason" to go there. The rugs are beautiful and your friends a talented and creative group.

We have a Dutch deli not far and I wouldn't be surprised if they have Speculaas cookies in for Christmas. I'll check.

I love Aldi. Some good finds. On my list is a crochet rug now that I found yarn that doesn't give me rashes. Your rugs are pretty. I didn't grow up eating pig pie either. Enjoy and Happy Crafting
