I dyed some wool. The bottom color was what I started with. It looks pink but it was more brown. I dyed the greens by adding them to the pot at different times.
I made some bread this week for my friendsgiving but sadly
I was not able to go, Husband had a bout of something I did not want to spread it around he seems better. of the 13 of us only 7 came mostly because of illness. (thankfully I am still fine)
We have had some very cold mornings but this rose bush is still going! It is in a very sheltered place but it will get the frost sooner than later. So I will enjoy it while I can.
I made a wreath. |
And filled my wooden piece with greens and a bow for the door.
I decorated the kitchen window.
And put all the candles in the windows.
I needed some time out of the house so I paid our property taxes. Got caught up on the town gossip. Gotta love small towns.
Then off to the thrift store. I got a pair of suede boots that still had the tags for 7.00, a lulu B linen jacket which my friend looked up and they sell for 99.00 so for 7.00 a deal. I also got a couple of other long sleeve shirts. A worthwhile trip.
Because I am decorating early for Christmas I am also cleaning as I go. I pulled out this grandfather clock my husband made and there were 3 spiders who had made 3 cozy little webs behind it.
They were just the leggy small ones so out they went.

I am working on a few presents I make for friends and there is baking to do but other than that I am pretty much done shopping.
My daughter and son in law decided a nice evening out together would be our present to each other. Because my son in law is right all we were doing was swapping gift cards. Time with them is better than any gift.

I am still having the same old issue with blogger so sorry if I didn't get back to you. I am sending them a message daily.
Have a wonderful weekend

Beautiful Christmas/winter touches Cathy! That wreath is especially awesome. You really score some fantastic finds. Love the suede booties! (I have a shoe addiction LOL). Sorry to hear you missed your Thanksgiving get together with your friends, but I'm sure they appreciate your caution. Bread looks yummy...just finishing up a regular loaf of Artisan bread I made a few days ago and think I'm going to do some carrot bread this weekend. I think, if I were to look, I'd have a lot more than 3 spideys behind my clock. ;-) ~Robin~
Looks like you had a productive week. So sorry you couldn't attend your "Friendsgiving" but I am glad you didn't get whatever your hubby had. The break looks delicious! You always get the best thrift store finds! Great bargains for sure. I love the wreath and greenery on your door. I will begin decorating for Christmas this weekend or next. I always like to have the Christmas decorations up for Thanksgiving. Have a good weekend. See you again soon!
Your Christmas decor is coming along very nicely. Love it all thus far. I too have been seeing way to many spiders cleaning in my house too. I hate them. I knew right away that Lulu B shirt was pricy and you sure got a good deal on it as well as the boots. Sorry you missed your Freindsgiving, but yes a wise choice to stay home. Co-workers of mine are getting sick...and am hoping I dont get it now. Tis the season for bugs of all kinds it seems. Janice
Sounds (and looks!) like you are in the Christmas spirit! Lovele wreath, and I think I can smell the bread all the way here! Love your collection of handcrafted brooms, and the wreath is such a welcome sign...
Your home is looking so pretty and festive! I love the gingerguys on the window and your wreath is lovely. I'm looking forward to a bit of downtime after the sale so I can slowly reclaim my house and then get ready for the holiday.
Linda at Lifeandlinda.com has a fix for the blogger thing, I think. I haven't tried it but she's the Fairy Blogmother and she's wonderful at figuring this stuff out!
First of all, I do believe blogger has done the no address back to everyone - you have to manually put the address in if that is what you are talking about.
Your home is beautiful, and you are incredibly talented. Sorry your hubs was sick, but your bread looked so good. Love your wreathe. Great idea about the gifts too.
Hope that your husband is feeling better, Cathy, and glad that you did not get whatever he had especially at this busy time. The handmade wreath is lovely as are the greens on the door. I really enjoy finding great thrift store finds, especially candles as we burn them a lot in the winter months. Bread baking is back here as well especially with homemade soup.
it seems to me that everyone is decorating early for christmas, i have done nothing. i really like the things you have made, homemade is always better. everything looks beautiful and festive. sorry about your friendsgiving, it is so disappointing to miss those traditional, fun events!!
Great results from your dye pots and I LOVE that shirt!
Your wreath and door piece are absolutely lovely!
I am so envious you are so ready for Christmas. I know it is only mid-November, but I feel I am so behind in the gift department. I like to find things not found at big box stores, but this year haven't been too successful and only have one gift made ;-( I better get busy.
Hope hubby is feeling better. So sorry you had to miss your friends get together. I feel awful. I was hoping it was just allergies I woke up with, but I fear it may be a cold. I don't have time to be sick!!!
How disappointing to have to miss the friends get-together. Meanwhile your dye experiments are looking very good. So is your wreath. I'm glad I'm not the only one decorating early.
Even with sickness swirling around you, it sounds like a good week. I really like your wreath and those brooms. I hold off decorating til after Thanksgiving. It'll be here soon.
That bread looks amazing! I love your decorating. Especially the gingerbread swag for the window. Bummer about the "friendsgiving". We have had a lot of sickness here also. The dying must be fun. Thanks for sharing.
Yes I am in the holiday spirit I hope I don't burn out before they get here.
I love handmade brooms not sure why. The witch in me I guess lol
Cathy
