Short But Sweet

frost is in the forecast for Friday. I picked some green tomatoes and
made some green tomato relish. my first time making this relish, and boy is this good!

I have been walking most days. Because we were so dry this summer our fall is slow in coming and not the really bright colors yet that we are so used to.

My favorite time of year.
Have a great Evening!

We're at the cottage and just beginning to see fall color-- not much of it yet. I hadn't thought about the dryness but I bet you are right.

Yay for homemade relish. You'd never know it was made with green tomatoes.

I love the beginning of all the seasons, it is always so magical but the ending is always so dramatic.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
Hugs,
Julia

Hello! That relish looks so good! So glad you have been able to do some walking. I love your walking path! I also love that quote at the end of the post. Amen for skipping winter and doing fall twice! See you again soon.

Frost should make those colors pop. I can see myself walking on that gorgeous path. Fall is my favorite time of year too, but it never seems to last long enough.

And what do you use that relish for?? I'm not big on relishes of any kind but it is pretty LOL. You know how I love your road...I would love to walk there too. Our leaves have started turning, but I do believe they are behind this year. We had a wetter than usual summer though. Strange. We've had several hard freezes so perhaps that will hurry them along. And another fall in lieu of winter would be absolutely perfect! ~Robin~

I agree. Let's do Fall twice! Oh no frost by you already. Not looking forward to that. Your relish looks good! Janice

I miss having a big garden and canning, guess I have to plan for next year.
I am watching the foliage photo pages, looks like certain areas are starting to turn, so hoping to do a few weekend drives this year.

Did you get frost? We were in the mid 40's this morning. UGH!

How lovely to see your relish, and I love those roads you get to walk down. That is such a cool picture.
Wow, I would love 40s in the morning.

Yes, 2 Falls would be perfect! October has dawned chilly but nice and we haven't had any frost here yet but it looks like next weekend could be when we get it. I'm done with the garden for another year. Your relish looks delish and I've never made it and might have to look up a recipe for next year. My family loves fried green tomatoes so that's where my green ones end up! Have a good week Cathy and stay warm!

Yes, I agree with the wording in that poster about skipping winter. Autumn is hands down my favorite because now we can take long walks outdoors without the heat, humidity, and insects. We hope there will be some colorful foliage, but the lack of rainfall may mean the displays will be muted a bit. We have not had any frost (yet) but 40-50 degree eves are wonderful! The relish looks good and is one I have never sampled.
