I think The Moon Knows

I think that ring around the moon is telling us to be on the lookout for snow very early tomorrow. The best guess right now is 6 to 8 inches. I just hope we do not get the mixing rain and sleet on top of it. It will be a nightmare.

I saw this on one of my gardening sites and thought it was pretty funny. I am sure that is how they (you) are feeling.

It has been more than chilly. On Tuesday it was bone chilling. The wind was blowing so it stayed between 30 and 40 below 0 all day. Not fit for man nor beast.
The interns on our Mount Washington are advising us to not eat our pasta outside in these temps. LOL

This is where we have our coffee and watch the sun rise in the winter. or just hangout and watch the birds or maybe a nap.
It is in our kitchen. We used to have a table there but when daughter left home out went the table. It is so funny it is the first place everyone goes to when they walk in the house.

And if you are sitting on the sofa and look to your left this is what you will see the working part of the kitchen. The warmest place in the house.

I don't know if you remember from this summer, but the neighbors invited us to pick as many raspberries as we wanted. Well 5 quarts later I froze them and now we are enjoying them.
I made raspberry bars that are so good! Great with tea.

Today my friend and I met up late morning. It was -6 this morning so we waited for it to warm up a bit. But the time we met my car said 8 degrees and hers said 10 so I settled on 9 degrees. We were dressed in layers and off we went.

The sun was Glorious not much heat from it but still so nice to see we have been very cloudy this winter.

We were the only two up there this morning all you could hear was the sound of our boots in the snow.

And the payoff wasn't bad either.

We did both the north and south peak and the north peak loop so a very good workout. After we went for lunch and parted promising to do more of this soon. Getting out in the winter makes it so much easier mentally to deal with the cold and bad weather.
I have been doing the online yoga class every day for 2 weeks and I noticed a bit of a difference in my stamina so worth it in the end.
****
I hope you are all well and happy. I still have not taken down my tree maybe tomorrow and then maybe not I like seeing the lights at night.
Have a wonderful week!

P.S. to Lynda who has an email I cannot answer. No, I have not made Crumpets, but I have had the store-bought ones and I do like them. If you have a Favorite recipe for them you would like to share, I would love to try to make them.

Oh my how frigid. And didn't you say you have Raynaud's? How do you manage to walk that far and that long in such cold temps? My fingers start turning white after I remove my yogurt from the fridge, scoop some out, eat it and take my cup to the sink. Then it requires me to put my fingers under warm/hottish water to get blood flowing again.

Oh, yes...the moon most certainly knows...and I think she used to whisper some of her secrets to my mother. That little kitchen nook looks so inviting. I wish I could cat nap on a couch...but my back seems to have an issue with it. Sounds like we are having very similar weather...although it briefly warmed up enough to snow today. You are quite a trooper for braving the cold for that kind of hike... Yikes! I think I am brave for venturing to the mailbox when it's that cold LOL. Love the meme too.... I always laugh when someone is horrified that is almost got to 30º.... Then again, I'd likely melt in their 110º. But I'm willing to give it a whirl about now! ~Robin~

We were cold but not that cold and it's snowing outside as I type but it only calls for 1-2in.We'll see in the morning I guess! Doing all that hiking makes having those delish raspberry bars worth it! I love raspberries and I make jam with mine every summer. Your kitchen is lovely and I would grab that seat too! We have a fireplace in ours and I'm tempted to put a small couch there but we use the table with our kids when they visit so I guess I'll just have to have kitchen envy and that view is fabulous! Have a good week and I will pray for no ice with that snow!

I love the pictures of your cozy home. Looks like a lovely place to be, especially in the cold snowy weather. Hope you have a good week. See you again soon!

Well, maybe for just once the moon is confused! Wow, you were brave to venture out on such a frigid day! What a wonderful place you have to hang out and enjoy the view.

I think we will get more rain on our end. It was cold today but we got out to the beach for a bit. Those bars look delicious, wish I could make something like that with apples, but without sugar, it isn't too tasty. What type of boots do you wear? I have been looking, think I need one pair for snow so I don't slip and a heavy rubber pair for the beach. Stores here are low on stock and I hate buying online, since there are too many options and you never know how they will fit.

It was 6 degrees in my car on Saturday. Today we warmed up to 24. Brrr What a cozy spot to look out your window. I can see why this is where folks go when they walk into your home. Janice
