Friends

This week I was able to meet Lauren from rugs and pugs
She was in New England to leaf peep with her DSO. They came to the house and then out to dinner. We both feel like we have known each other for ever, what a wonderful evening! and not one picture!
Lauren brought me just the sweetest gifts that I will show next week.

Also this past week we heard of the passing of a very long time friend. Over the past years we have not kept in touch a lot just Christmas cards or bumping into each other once in a while( we live a couple hours apart now).
But when we were younger we were all very close, lots of camping, and going out for fun. I feel so badly for her husband and family they had been married for 44 years.

And speaking of being married for a long time we celebrated
43 years this week. It has been a long road but this is husband's first hike since his heart attack a year ago. He has done so well taking care of himself since that happened, it was a 2.2 mile hike too! He did great!
And a wonderful view at the top.  For all the people in this area to see the leaves we were all alone on that hike, yeah for us! So peaceful and quiet.

After our hike and a bite to eat we came home to cornstalks and sunflowers on our mailbox that someone had left for us. How I love living in a small town.

I made my first french apple tart this weekend and it was no where near as hard as I thought it would be.
I plan on making some soup this week even though we are headed to 81 by wed crazy weather!
We are still not at peak color yet so we are still in for some good color.

I am off to a hook in put on by my guild next weekend, and I have started a new Christmas rug for a gift
Have a wonderful week!!!

So glad you had a fun time with your blog buddy! Your leaves have changed more than ours. Next week should start to show some good color. I love your area..so beautiful! I also love the idea of the cornstalks on the mailbox! I might have to try that one! Enjoy your hooking and have a good week. We've been in the 80's but it must be moving to you because we're heading into a cool down by Thursday. Finally!

I have been watching both of your blogs waiting to see how it was, I can't wait to see what she brought you. What a yummy tart! That and some coffee would be so great.
Well those pictures you posted with the hike and the leaves in the background is beautiful to my eyes. What color that is when here in California its just different shades of brown.
I hope you have a wonderful week. I am so sorry about your friend.

Oh how beautiful every thing is.
I got to meet a couple of blog buddies over the years. Isn't amazing how we seem to click right away--like we've been friends for years and years.

The colors are coming in and i Have seen it from others, higher up, wish I could get up there. I am just so worn out, it is too much for me to get everything ready. Glad you could both get out for a hike again, we need to try some small ones to see how Bill does.
Sorry to hear about your friend, it seems we have lost so many in the past few years. Happy Anniversary in case i missed that.

Isn't it great to meet up wth blog friends? We have done so a couple of times when our travels allowed and had some enjoyable visits. The colors are looking nice, but not so much yet here in Nashua, NH - only some scattered bits of colored leaves. And it is getting into the 80s here as well this week in keeping with Indian summer, but I much prefer cooler fall-like temps. How nice to find your mailbox decorated and yes small town life is full of joys.
