Grousing

We had a white Christmas not a lot but enough to make everything white and pretty.
We didn't get a partridge in a pear tree but we got a grouse in a crab apple tree.
Our big excitement for the day.

The only company we had was my friend Priscilla, she called and then came over for tea.
This year was very different we skyped the family all together which in my heart made it worse.
I know we have many blessing in our life David is doing so well. We have a home, food and warmth
Still being kept away from the family was very hard. And to top it off Miss Baby took her first step on Christmas day. So time for the pity party to be over and look forward to the new year.

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Even thought it wasn't the Christmas you wanted - you still made Christmas happen and were together! Sounds like it was still a good day! The snow did look so pretty in your pic!

Merry Christmas! I hope you and David have a healthy new year and soon family can be all together again. Easter can be a fun family time together also...it will be Spring again. The snow looks lovely but we had a very green Christmas. We had tons last year so I'm happy with sun and green. Have a good week!

Oh, to have missed Miss Baby's first steps - I am so sorry. I hope your days at home are coming to a close - how long has it been now? I hope the New Year brings much family time, good health and lots of snow (if you want that...). Thinking of you!

Cathy, I'm sure it was a difficult Christmas away from your family when you'd really rather be hugging them than extending the well wishes by skype. Hopefully the healing will become more rapid as each day goes by. Before you know it he'll be outside fishing, cutting grass and doing all things he used to enjoy.

I wouldn't even know what a "grouse" was! I would think you had a grouch at your house...like the Grinch or something...ha! Neat that you know your wildlife.
Glad David is doing well...a huge Christmas blessing and while Miss Baby is starting to walk, that heartbreak will soon be replaced with better days! It's hard at the time though.
Love your quote...I need to remember it more often.

That grouse is too cool! I've had many birds at the feeders. Tom thinks I should take them down because he's convinced we'll get bears...he wishes!! I'm sad you couldn't be with your daughter and Miss Baby...but you are right...David is feeling good, and you have many blessings. But, it's hard to be without the kids during Christmas! I'll see my boys on Saturday.
Hugs to you both!

What a true saying. It is hard to give our expectations of life. I am glad to hear is doing so well. I know you are aching to be with your grandbaby. Very soon I hope.

This is the first Christmas in years that my husband and I haven't been alone. So I understand
just how you feel.
You are so blessed with David's good progress. Hopefully by next year you can all share the season
together again.
Happy New Year!

Hi Cathy...sorry you couldn't have your family visit. I know how it feels since I am with my dad in AZ and family is over 1800 miles away. So cool to see the Grouse though!!! Glad David is doing well and it won't be long till things are back to normal!

Must be hard not being with the family on Christmas, especially now with that sweet baby girl. Her first step on Christmas...you will always remember the date she took her first step. The new year is sure to bring so many firsts in her life, it is sure to be a wonderful year.

It must have been difficult to not physically see your family on Christmas. Next year will be even better. I love the grouse in the tree. Oh, I especially liked the quote today.

Being alone on Christmas is for the birds--and you had one show up to be with you.
