Believe

I had some time after doing 10 loads of laundry this weekend to make this little tree. I got the directions from Martha Stewart's site. I found the tinsel pipe cleaners at a yard sale a few years ago. It really is cuter than it looks here so this will be my tree this year.
The weather was cool but good this weekend. On one of my walks around the yard I found this. Can you believe it 2 snow storms and lots of frost. It was 26 degrees last night and still it blooms.
On Friday night I had a wonderful chance to go out with a couple of friends to a church sale and dinner. A glass of wine and lots of laughs was just what the Dr ordered.

I have had some time to look through some of my books and found this Nast drawing.
While religion is the reason for the season. The magic that goes with Santa Clause is what makes the season so exciting for children. I am sad that Children seem to find out much to young now days. I think I was 10 when I got the bad news from a friend at school.

No Santa Clause! Thank God!he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virgina, nay ten times ten thousand years from now he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

I have a fun Santa story I will tell next post but I would love to hear your Santa stories from when you believed.

I hope you and the hubby are doing well! I dread the day my boys come home and tell me that someone told them there is no Santa Claus. I don't remember anyone telling me that but I do remember finding my parents' hiding place where all the presents were. I think I kind of knew right then and there. Probably at around 10.

I remember being very young...3 or 4 or so, and a friend of my parents dressed up as Santa and came to the house. I was astonished and very nervous! I'll never forget it!

What, no Santa! I'm shocked!! Hmm, I'll have to think about some funny Christmas stories . . .

So happy to hear you were able to go out with a few friends and relax a bit! Oh, love the tree!

We haven't had the snow, but today I saw that I still have a thing or two blooming in the yard. Yeah! Winter can hold off until March and then we can go in to spring ~ in my dreams!

LOVE your little tree -- simply perfect!!

My Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Clark, who was quite an older woman then, her sweet husband was the santa at our local North Park Christmas Parade every year. He sported his own whiskers so when we saw him at any other time of year, it was still like seeing santa. He was such a dear man with endless patience for children :)

CHRISTmas Blessings!

Cathy, I am playing catch-up with my blog reading. I do hope your dear husband continues to do well and life begins to slowly return to normal. I must mention how cute your Christmas slippers are, I am sure Miss Baby will love them. What a cute tree, I am sure Martha would be proud! Sending Seasons Greetings, Julie.

I love your sweet tree Cathy!
So pleased you've had some time out with friends.
I love the sweet pansy flower, it doesn't matter how bad the weather gets here the winter pansies always manage to have a smiling face :o)
No Santa Claus? You're kidding?
When he visited my daughter once he left a great big sooty footprint on our carpet - and crumbs everywhere off his mince pie! Thank goodness the reindeer didn't leave a present too ;o)
Hope David is progressing well.
Best wishes as always.

I love Santa...I collect them and I love stories about him. I also have a deep understanding of the real reason for the season, but love the idea of a loving, giving soul that also loves little children and wants to make them smile. I truly don't remember how I found out about Santa so I guess I'm still believing!

Your tree is adorable. I may have to make one, I never put up a tree out here in AZ since family never comes to visit then. Hope things are going well?

What a cute little tree. I bet that it even looks better than Martha's. You did a fantastic job.

I love Santa too but I guess that my daughter didn't approved of lying to her kids as she told them when they were young that there was no real Santa Claus and his e tiny reindeers flying in the sky getting presents for kids around the world.

I was about 7 when I accidently found the stash of small Christmas presents hidden under the sofa bed box. I didn't told a soul but was very disappointed.

Have a wonderful week. Hugs. JB

Well Santa is alive at this home. I have his suit and his beard. Lol
My hubbys family tradition is dressing up as Santa at Christmas so Hubby will be arriving on Christmas. I hope he doesn't scare the grandbaby!

Pretty tree, perhaps I should look on the Martha Steward web site to see what it says to do.

I agree children learn far too early and it really wasn't much fun for me once my now 43 year old son learned there was no Santa. My grandson is 8 and still believes, thank goodness.

I never had to go through the heart crushing time of hearing there was no Santa Claus as I never believed. In our family, the birth of Jesus was what was stressed. HOWEVER--my kids believed and it was fun.
