The View From Here

I have shown this scene many times on my blog, but it never ceases to amaze me. This is our view with our morning coffee this time of year. It is a dank, cold, drizzly, day. I still managed to get a walk in.

Most of this busy holiday weekend here has been just lovely.
The traffic crazy, the worst that I have ever heard of! One person said it took them 36 minutes to go 5 miles on our divided highway through the mountains! And the hiking sites were filled with complaints of congestion on the trails and people hiking not adequately prepared. On the top of our mountains there is snow and ice. Nothing to fool with this time of year.
I just think maybe the world is closing in on so many people and they are looking to nature for some relief. I feel very blessed to live here and be in nature most days.

The last rose of summer? I told you back when they started blooming, they will go until a hard freeze gets them. We have had frosts, but they are still going.

On my walk today I found a wooly bear caterpillar now what is he predicting for the winter??
Looks like a mild start a harsh ending. Who knows if all these predictors are correct? We have so many acorns this year more than I have seen in many many years. And the old farmer's Almanac (which we read cover to cover. It's hanging in the bathroom lol) says a harsh winter. We shall see!
Have a great week!

It looks like a harsh winter for sure - I wonder if here in GA. I totally agree - I wish I had more area to get out in myself.

Love the caterpillar predictions. Never heard of that before.

A very good year for acorns here too but no hazelnuts

I've never seen that legend before and found it interesting. Will be sure to check out the coloration of them here in my area.

Your Wolly Bear Caterpillar seems to predict a mild beginning of winter and a harsh ending. I haven't seen one in our area yet,

Your roses are beautiful. I still have some roses blooming too.

Take care,
Hugs, julia

My mom thinks we are going to have a harsh Winter too. I hope not. Your view out your window is a mighty fine one and I would not get tired of it one bit. A great place to enjoy your morning coffee. Janice

The neighboring little city has had a Wooly Bear festival for decades. I think it draws 100,000 people annually.
You have such a beautiful place to walk! Your fall color is looking pretty good.

Your view is swoon worthy! I can understand all the folks wanting to catch a peek at those views. I can imagine the locals aren't too pleased. I hope all the tourists bring some income to your area. I saw a wooly bear completely black..Yikes! I think we need more wood! Have a good week Cathy!

Your fall foliage is beautiful... It seems here the past few years the leaves peak and then we have days and days of horrible winds and they are gone. Today is unseasonably warm (almost 70!) but we have wind of 30+ mph and the weather is saying they are to increase tonight. 😳 I am still waiting to see a wooly bear this fall...they are generally very accurate...as is the abundance of apples, acorns, etc. Well, I'm off to try to batten down the hatches...again. ~Robin~

Let's hope the predictions for a harsh winter are wrong. You surely live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Wow!
