Pears..

A friend with a pear tree gave me this big bowl of pears. Now what to do?

I canned them in simple syrup that had cinnamon stick and a bit of cardamon. They were all so ripe that I could not use them quick enough so now I can use them when I am ready.

The colors are not near peak yet in our area but still lots of pretty color. The weather has been just wonderful. I just love fall but I wish it were a lot longer because I know what is to come.

I finished the hooking part of my Halloween rug and now I am not crazy about the fence uggg! So do I redo it or put some of that color in the pumpkins?

My son in law had his 40th birthday this weekend.
He is in the blue shirt my daughter in the red and sweet B in the front the others are very close friends. My daughter did it up she had a band and munchies lots of fun.

We are still waiting for husband to get an appointment with a specialist but so far so good for him. We are being very careful about food etc. Oh it is always something.
But we are very blessed, I try to each night write in my journal what I am thankful for. It has always helped me keep things in prospective.

Have a great week my sweet friends

Happy birthday to you son in law! I agree the fence is not the right color. Please show us what you decide to do. Janice

Lucky you for getting some local pears. They will come in handy when you need them.

Yay, you got all the hooking done. If I were to change the gate color, I would just tone down the red a bit. It all looks so good.

So sorry about the husband's having some health issues again. I hope that the specialist can give him good news and hope. You are wise to write down what you are grateful for every day. It does put things in perspective. The journey of life can be difficult at times.

Will keep David in my prayers.
Hugs, Julia

No, fall never does last long enough. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be there already. I love the rug! It will be fun to see what changes you make.

I'm, dare I say, on the fence about the fence. Hey - somebody had to say it! :-) Part of me thinks the bright color goes with the bright moon. Another part says it's a bit too bright. Possibly dumba** question (I'm not a rug hooker) - is there any way to tone down colors without redoing? Like use a permanent fabric marker? Or add another color of fiber, like floss or yarn?

I, too, wish fall could last until spring :)
Before you reverse hook the fence and gate, try toning it down with walnut crystal spray or some coffee. You can use a small paintbrush to apply.
Happy 40th to son-in-law.
Prayers for you and hubby. Hope he can get in to see someone soon.
Yes, we have much to be thankful for.

Hi Cathy, I'm playing catch up with my blogging friends. Hope your hubby is doing well. Great pics of your sweet family...Miss B is such a cutie! Love your rug...agree with Lauren, might try to tone down fence with a little coffee. Gratitude can be such a saving grace when life gets us down...always something to be thankful for...we just have to look harder sometimes.
Take care,
Robyn
