Memorial Weekend

Please remember why we have this three day weekend.
No matter the politics, or any other issues we are still free
because of those who fought for it.

We have been cool and rainy most of last week
Then the wind came an blew the last of the flowers off the flowering crab, made it look like snow.

By Sat the sun peeked out of the clouds and made a good day
Today is a beautiful day.

I have been trying to walk most days and low and behold
I found the elusive lady slipper. A friend and I usually hike this time of year and see how many we can find.

I was walking by the window and this guy was just sitting there
thinking about his last meal of the day. Our feeder is off a window on the second floor so no bears can get at it. So I have one of the few feeders still up in the area. Bears will destroy a feeder and it is not good for the bear to learn to come to them for food.

Today we headed to the other side of the lake to see how the other half lives, We had lunch out on a deck by the docks very nice.
We walked around I went in a couple of shops and home we came.

The pollen has been horrid so I have been cleaning a lot.
Washing curtains and windows etc But it was not all
work I also made croissants for the very first time. I have been very intimidated by the process for awhile but I threw caution to the wind and gave them a try! If I do say so myself yuuuuuummmm
They came out so good. My husband loves them.

I am back to work tomorrow which is fine as I have to take next Monday off, we are going to Cape Cod for a wedding. I have only been to the cape a couple of times very pretty but very busy.

I hope your weekend is wonderful and you are with the people you love.

That birdir looks like a rose breasted Grosbeak. We have them here in our neck of the woods. So afraid to going anywhere in the woods here as we have a bad tick problem this year. My neighbors daughter got one on her leg as they biked through the trail near us. That lady slipper is nice!and I love it when the flowering trees lose there flowers and it looks like snow. So pretty. Janice

Seems we have had more rain this year, than last, but good for the summer months.
We have driven by that area when we head home, nice area to visit sometime and explore more.
A wedding at the cape sounds wonderful, but the roads are horrid in the summer.

Glad better weather has found you! What kind of bird is that? Looks like he ate some strawberries and they got all over his white bib! Ha! Sorry you have to work. I was on call last year for Memorial day but I'm free tomorrow. I have call on July 4th instead! Oh well, Summer is unofficially here and I never forget why we celebrate this special weekend. Love to attend the parade and cemetery ceremony tomorrow.

Don't you love it when a feathered friend drops by? I watched a cardinal bathe in our birdbath a few days ago and it was one of the highlights of my day! Hot an sticky down here!
