I Finally Have Something To Post About

I have no idea why this picture turned. I found this at

an antique store for 6.00 I have taken a quick look at it

I am hoping to get some time to read it.

 

I was lucky enough to get to the thrift store today

this is not a great picture but the earring on the left

has been cleaned. I guess they are silver but no markings

so not sure what kind of silver. for 1.00 they are mine.

 

Miss B's favorite thing to do is play-doh

I thought these would be a great prize for

going on the potty. Yeah potty!

I had coffee after work today with my sweet friend

what a great treat we do not see each other near enough.

She passed me a bag full of goodies in it was this wool bedspread

it is single size I washed and dried it, it has one little stain I

am going to treat again. I hate to think of cutting it up.

we have had some wild weather as I know most of you have.

Our driveway has been one block of ice. Our driveway is very steep and goes down

towards our house so if you start to slide you can either go over the edge

or into one of the cars or truck at the end, both not good.

So the warm weather started to come, by the time I went to bed it was

38 degrees what is usually our high for the days.

when I got up this morning it was a balmy 52 and not a sign of

ice or snow. By the time I got to work it had dropped 10 degrees the wind was

blowing and rain and snow was falling it is now 28 and blowing.

What A Weekend!

We have been soo cold I know like most of you, the the morning sky

has been beautiful and crisp.

Our weekend started with a visit to my 89 year old aunt in Maine.

She just had her birthday, I can only hope that I take after her.

She lives on her own and needs no help thank you very much.

(her son does live next door)

She is spry and with it I told her we were there to take her to lunch.

she popped up put her coat on and beat me to the car.

She gave me a beautiful quilt she made, she was saving for special.

I guess I am special:)

I will post a picture next time.

Then Sat night we won free tickets for a show so

off we went. we had never heard of this guy, I googled him and

thought we would like him. He was amazing and so was the opening act

his name is Martin Sexton just an amazing talent.

 

Today we got a visit from Miss B. The look on David's face

is pure love.  It had been about a month since we have seen her because of

illnesses on both sides.

The town I work in (5 miles from my house) is having their

250th anniversary so they started off with a play

all on the history of Plymouth NH. The players were local people

Dr's, lawyers, business men and what an amazing job!

Robert Frost taught at the college here for a couple of years

Nathaniel Hawthorn visited here and died here.

Babe Ruth spent some time here and visited a business

that made his baseball glove and bats. to name a few there were so many

famous people who lived and spent time here.

I am all caught up on Downton Abbey I have to say nothing got done around here I was so

engrossed in that series. I was up until 1AM watching the last episode on Friday.

I am glad I did it now things make more sense for season 3.

I did not get to the hook in, Courtney was unable to go and I really needed to

get the time to see my aunt. I hope I will get to the next hook in.

Baby It's Cold Outside...

I was lucky enough to get the first two

years of Downton Abbey from the library.

since we are below zero most of this week I have

my feet up and catching up.

This is Tuckerman's Ravine, in the spring people hike into

here to do spring skiing it is very dangerous but they can't seem

to resist going. Wind chill on Mt Washington tonight is -73 f.

we are-4 with wind chill about -24.

I know a lot of you are in the deep freeze too..

We went to Boston today for David's appointment. All is well

They said he did very well through his sickness and there is no sign

of infections left over.

I am off to a hook in this weekend I hope to meet up the Courtney.

Holistic Remedies

We have been warm-ish for New England 30's-40's.

The wind has kicked up and is bringing in very cold weather.

We have had the flu in this house:(

I am happy to say David is on the mend.

I dodged the flu!(this time)

 I may have just been lucky but this is what I did and

and what if it really is helping??

First I did wear a mask at home while David was sick

I washed my hands while singing happy birthday twice.

(in my head:)

I wiped my hands until dry.

I drink a mug of hot water with a large wedge of lemon.

I drink 8 glasses of water

one or two of those glasses I put in air borne or emergency C

I take 2000 units of Vit D, most people in the north east

are vit D deficient. You can get this checked with a blood test.

I eat 2 pieces of ginger you can put this in your hot water

or I bought some crystallized ginger at the health food store.

Plenty of sleep

The one other thing I have started is the last 2 minutes of my

shower I turn it to cold brrrr, I haven't quite lasted the

2 minutes but I am working on it. There is a German study

that shows the 2 minute cold shower helps circulation and

raises your white blood count.

Now did all of this help? who knows but I am still healthy

and it can't hurt:) Yes I had the flu shot this fall but so did David.

I am hoping the flu dosen't find you.

Is There A Maid In The House?

Yes that would be me! Husband has the flu, yes he and I both had

the flu shots so that is why this season is so bad because the flu shot did not cover

 the flu going around this year. I have been chasing germs for the past two

days. About 50 loads of laundry and I walk around with the cleaning spray 

and a roll of paper towels. My hands are raw from washing them and using hand sanitize

I was feeling I needed some comfort food. I found this recipe 

for tomato mac and cheese on line I added some bacon we had in the

frig, it is so yummy.

I also made a banana bread  it is still hot so I haven't had a taste yet.

Husband went to our local Dr after we were done there I called Boston.

I usually get a nurse because it was Saturday. But I spoke to one of the transplant Dr

he assured me he would be fine but if it he got any worse to take him directly to our

local hospital and call them. I am happy to say he is feeling a hair better

he is sitting up watching our beloved Patriots play.

Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns; I am thankful that the thorns

have roses.

Color Planing

                                          I have no idea where I got this idea so if it is your idea
                                                    You are a genius! Just mix theses two
                                          cake mixes the devil's food part can be replaced with any
                                           flavor of your choice.

you take 3 tablespoons of the mix add 2 tablespoons of water that's it

put in the microwave for 1 minute voila you have a little cake!

It tastes ok too I think a little scoop of ice cream would be great.

A funny little note about the devil food cake mix. Husband has

decided that he wants to help out and grocery shopping is one

of the ways to help. I put on my list angel food cake mix, he comes home 

with devil foods cake and tells me it's all the same. so I think he needs some shopping help

and maybe a trip to church.:) 

This rug is giving me fits I have pulled out everything I have put in

I just can't come up with the look I want. I know I will pull most of

what I have in out again. I have a special project in mind for it.

This is a basket cooler, I want to fit that rug to the top.

I if I ever decide on colors it will look great.

Keep your sense of humor. There's enough stress in the rest of your

life to let bad shots ruin a game you're suppose to enjoy.

I went to my first guild meeting woolen magic. What a wonderful group of women

very welcoming. I do think I may have been the one of the few if not the only one who

hooks with a wide cut. We had a great class on finishing. 

I started this rug on Saturday I am still trying to color plan. A friend gave me this pattern, I was very happy

to have this to start after my Santa rug.

While I was taking the tree down I watched a movie Practical Magic.

The house was amazing and I found out it was built just for the movie.

I am thankful.. that I haven't killed my rosemary...

I am thankful ...Our little local library has late hours on Wed.
