Ta Da Dump Makeover

I found this lamp at the dump it is heavy and has very classic lines but as you can see
it is tough shape. The base has a bit of rust, the shade is stained and dirty.
I did a bit of sanding, and then many coats of black paint.
I tore the fabric off the shade and started the redo.

The fabric on the shade was a stark white and black I toned it down with a pot of coffee.
I sprayed many coats of black. Then I wrapped the candles with vintage music sheets.
I just love how it came out. I was so excited to show husband and get it lit. I plugged it in and
ummmmm

was very lucky I wasn't shocked. this had a control on the cord.
someone took it out and left the wires. The up side to this is just under the base everything is
wire nut so husband will have no problem rewiring. Moral of the story check the cord out first!

I purchased 2 things this weekend a stack of pop up books for Miss B.
and this sweet tablecloth.I think that this was done with fabric paint but
it was a great job and it has no stains.
I will use it on my porch I do use tablecloths and place mats.

Also at the dump I found a great book of  positive quotes.
so I will go between quotes and good manners.
I hope you are all enjoying the last grand weekend of summer!

Cathy,
What an awesome make-over on the lamp! Love how you put the printed paper on the candlestick part!
I did that once too.... plugged in a lamp I bought at a garage sale and "boom!' Knocked out the circuit breaker! Needless to say I never plug in used lamps without examining every inch of the cord! LOL!! I'm glad to be here typing this!

Oh, Cathy ~
I'm happy you didn't shock yourself or start your house on fire!!! Glad hubby can rewire it because it looks terrific!
Happy holiday to you!

You did a nice job on the lamp and yes, you're lucky you didn't got shocked.

Wiring a lamp is a piece of cake though. I wired many lamps in ceramics. Some had the switch on the cord.
Getting the lamp all redone was the hard job.

The lamp redo is top shelf. I bet you can't wait for the wire to be fixed. I love the vintage look of the tablecloth.

Your lamp makeover is genius! I love how you mixed the patterns of the shade fabric and the vintage music sheets --- so, so clever. Well done!

I have missed some of your posts somehow!:( I will have to go back to catch up.:)

Yes, you were lucky that lamp didn't send sparks in the wrong direction! It looks really nice now that you've finished it.

Rain here today, finally. We have needed it for the fall garden.

Have a good Labor Day!
