Curtains..

Look what came in the mail today! I haven't even cracked the cover I want to
sit and digest it. I want a vintage travel trailer so much! husband is not so
sure about it and really it is not in the budget right now.

If you see the new Yankee there is a great article on the area we live.

My close friend is cleaning out her parents house this summer.
always hard.  I saw these curtains and loved them.
I believe her mother made them. They look great in my dining room.

I have been doing a bit of hooking but really bad news. I will run out of back ground:(
I usually figure it out pretty good but lord this hand cut is doing me in.
The picture was taken outside so a better idea of colors still a bit off though.
***
I have been texting my brother all day he is in the gulf port Mississippi area.
he said it is rough but not like Katrina was.

Great comments on the etiquette book!
so here is a little more.
My boy friend and I work together in this city, but we are going to my home, several states distant,
to be married. Is it all right for us to travel together in the train without a chaperon? It is an over night trip.
Yes, but preferably you occupy quarters in separate cars. and of course you observe all proprieties. The people in the train are now considered proper chaperone's to you.
Oh my goodness the times have changed!

I love the look of vintage travel trailers! I have a dream of one day owning and restoring one... but I can't even imagine what that would cost!

And OH MY how much things have changed!! I love these little Etiquette excerpts!

How I love the color of your trim in the dining room. The curtains are perfect. My brother re-did a vintage trailer last summer. Had to gut it. It looks awesome now but he worked on it all summer. He is quite handy.

Hi Cathy, I too enjoy Mary Jane Butters. I have always wanted a little camper to fix up and call my own, even if it never left the yard, it would be fun to have a girly space. The curtains are lovely, they appear perfect in your space. Very sweet rug, can you change up the colors instead of taking the background out? I'm sure it will turn out lovely. Have a good evening, Julie.

I hope that you get you vintage camper some day soon.

You may be able to dye your own wool to match closely. One way that I measure is 4 to 5 time the area to be covered. I use mostly a # 6 cut for background and my loops are not very high. I just fold the wool four times and add some extra just in case. So far it has worked for me. If you use wider cuts you may need more. another way may be to pull some strips out and mix your background with two closely matching colors.

I hope that you find a solution for the background. Your rug is looking good. JB

LOL! Love the etiquette tip!!!
The rug looks great. Hand tearing sure does use the wool! Do you have any similar wools to add to the mix and do a little reverse hooking to intersperse them? I'm sure you will figure it out!
Hugs :)

I love those curtains! They look great on your windows. I'm not a "hooker" so no help there..sorry! Glad your brother is OK. It's so scary to have another hurricane down there again. I laughed at the etiquette quote. Now it would read: "My boyfriend and I having been sleeping together since our first date....." Times have changed!

*****the times CERTAINLY have changed! ok...the curtains look great and so does the kitty! you're doing well with cutting by hand, BUT, in the future measure a
good six times the space. the larger the cut...the more wool needed. i can send you more material...just send me a clip of
what you are using and i'll go to the wool room and hunt for some
more. hard to believe that this is labor day!!!

You need to go on Pinterest and see the vintage campers. You will go nuts. The curtains are lovely and I love reading the old time etiquette.

Another thing we both have in common. I would love to have one of those babies myself. I think it would be so much fun.
Love your new curtains. I need some myself
So sorry about your running out of your yarn. Your piece is so darling. Will you be able to get some more soon.
I thought your brother was in that area. I am so glad he is okay.
We got some wind and a little much needed rain.
Yes my trip is next Saturday. This time next Sat I should be in gorgeous Maine. I have had so many problems these past two weeks I just hope they quit so I will have money left to go. haha
My computer will not load enough for me to blog. I was lucky and go through to you tonight but that took me an hour. lol
I have been going through clothes for Maine and I have only warm clothes set out but from what I have been seeing I may be packing wrong.
