A Day For Lilies

A friend of mine is cleaning out her parents house, she passed on a box of wonderful wool!

And some wonderful drapes.

The weather has been hot and muggy but a large thunderstorm blew through last night
and cooled things down. I remember reading Tasha Tudor saying she would not give
day lilies any space in her gardens. I on the other have hand have given them room.

I understand why she didn't like them you can't cut them for a bouquet.

They only last a day. They always have a dead head hanging unless you are
really good and dead head every day.

We went to Boston for David's check up. A good report so we have 2 weeks before
we have to go back. The trip is always hard we leave early in the morning by the time
we are headed home we are tired. When we get close to home the mountains are on all sides of us.
I feel like it is a giant hug and welcome back from the mountains. There is no place like home.

Summer afternoon-summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words
in the English language.

I'm so glad to hear David received a good report! It does sound like a tiring day for sure.
I love lilies. There are so many beautiful varieties.

Cathy, I am so happy to read David received a good report back from his doctor. Lovely wool, beautiful drapes, and I do enjoy the presence of lilies in my gardens, sorry Tasha. Hope you are enjoying summer, the humidity has not left us yet, hopefully soon! Hugs, Julie.

Hi Cathy,
So glad the check-ups are going well! It sounds like you have a beautiful drive coming through the mountains!
What a nice bunch of wool to inherit! You'll put it to good use!
I'm with Tasha.... have a few day lilies left in my garden though....can't get rid of them all.... they are too pretty!
Hugs!

Great health report and hope he continues to take like easy and not overdo, particularly in this heat.

Love that top textured wool, but solids are also great to add to the stash.

I have a lot of day lilies--I love them. Also many other kinds of lilies. Fred gave me a lily plant every Sweetest Day and I'd plant it in my gardens after it was finished blooming. I have half a dozen and love them. The Star Gazer was so fragrant this year.

It's a good day when the doctor's report is good!

There is a local farm known nationally for their day lilies. They have developed several unusual varieties. I happen to think they are lovely!:)

Have a great Thursday!
