Happy St. Patrick's Day...

We saw sweet B today. Even pigs are Irish today, we saw him on our way out to lunch.

On the way back from lunch I found this lucky rock. You go on a website and it lets them know you found it. It is in honor of her daughter who died. A wonderful way to pay tribute. Sweet B was very happy to hide it again.

Speaking of Sweet B (in the pink gloves) she was part of a photo shoot for Cranmore Mt Resort. She has become a good skier this year. Beside her is her close friend and on the end in the red jacket is another long time friend. Wonderful to see local kids who ski there all the time being used in their advertising.

Our trip home from Florida was very uneventful even though they grounded all those planes. And my plants made it through 2 weeks and seem happier for it.

Even though we came back to lots of snow on the ground I am over winter, I took the white lights out of the windows and packed away all the winter pictures I had hung up and replaced them with spring pictures. COME ON SPRING!

I even baked banana bread for us and some whoopie pies for my husband's pool friends.

My sweet friend bought me and insulated tumbler while we were in Florida. It has such sweet flowers on it. So while I am waiting for my garden to thaw out I will enjoy taking this to work to remind me we really do have spring on the way.

Still On Vacation

The weather has been amazing.

The birds and the beach are beautiful.

And this is the only snow(sandman) I want to see.

We have walked a lot. this is a bush that people leave 

shells on so it looks like the bush is growing shells.

Because we have spent so much time in the sun we dug out the umbrellas and sat in the shade yesterday. A perfect place to read.

Of course spring break is in full force, this is how they are keeping an eye on them. Really the kids are fun to watch and wish we had all that energy. 

It has been just a wonderful vacation I will hate to see it end.

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N

We left NH in a snow storm. The day before it was freezing and blowing  just brutal!!!

To this, ahhhhhhh it has been 80 every single day and just wonderful....

I am walking the beach every chance I get. A fun sculpture.

The sand here is very fine and white.

We have watched sunset every night. We swam in the pool and the ocean. We had lunch in the village, it is just plain relaxing.

Home has had 2 more snow storms our friends are coming tomorrow and my brother in law and wife are coming Thur so lots more fun in store.

Another Day Of Snow

That red dot is a cardinal waiting to come into the feeder. We got about 3 inches with sleet and now it is freezing rain.

I have a few bread ends so I made bread pudding I love it for breakfast and this is just a little one.

I took on a commission it is a local woman who thought she wanted to hook a rug for her daughter's wedding 5 years ago. She drew it, color planned it, and cut all the wool but only pulled a few strips. She has asked me to hook it for her by June. It is a 2x3 rug with an 8 cut. I have gone right to work on it and set my things aside. Not my colors but she will be happy, I hope. The $$$$ will be good to support my habit.

We are headed out on vacation soon so we had lunch with the family before we leave. It was at Castle in the clouds I know you have seen several posts of me being there but it never gets old.

Their restaurant is in the old carriage house and you eat in the stalls

fun idea. 

It is a mecca of snowmobiles and other fun winter sports.

Speaking of winter fun Sweet B is going top to bottom this year skiing. She went with her mom this past week. (Love those faces) My daughter said she is very fast and confident and she had a hard time keeping up with her. 

Well I have a few more days of work left then fun in the sun.

Still Pretty

We had snow all day today what was suppose to be a dusting to 3 inches ended up double that. Now we are cold brrrrr

While I complain about the snow it still is a pretty beautiful place to live. (I can not remember the name of the photographer but so beautiful)

The one good thing is our days are getting longer. When I get out of work at 5 now it is not pitch dark. I still have some light to drive home in and sometimes I even get a walk in before dinner.

The moon will be full tomorrow but still beautiful tonight.

There are lots of hikes and snowshoe walks in the woods being offered tomorrow night I might try to join in, it would be nice to get outside under the moon.

We had a long time friend that was guest over the weekend it was nice to catch up and talk over the good old times.

Well that is about all that happened last week. I am still hooking my stair risers I tried dyeing wool but it was a big fail so maybe I will give it another try. I did finish a needle punch piece now to put it together!

Happy Valentine's Day

I got this off Pintrest, I have a whole box of antique Valentines I have yet to dig out.

I have been hooking away on my stair risers.

But this weather is making my hands so dry and cracked. So I am using lots of lotion and drinking lots of hot water and lemon. Winter skin hurts.

We have been cold but sunny all weekend, of course a big storm coming in on Tue night this week ick!

We had sweet B for over night this weekend. She loves the statues in the next town and we found two that she had not seen. My little unicorn is posing with the dancer sculpture in the background

Not sure this will play but it is a piece of sculpture too. Each time the wind blew it changes and makes a wonderful sound.

It was pretty windy this weekend so we stood in the cold longer than we should just watching this!

Sweet B is reading Harry Potter with her mother and she is so into magic. Pepe had a couple of tricks to show her and she loved it! She tried to master them before she left for home.

While they were playing in the kitchen I noticed how dirty my cupboard fronts were so after we dropped off B I went to work cleaning.

I found the kit that came with the cupboards when they were installed. We touched up some nicks, I washed and dried them.

then I found a tiny of bottle of polish that came with them.

and bingo they look new!!!! Then I waxed the kitchen floor with wax I found under the sink after cleaning that out. (We are finally getting new faucets installed)

I haven't waxed a floor in 20 years but this 30 year old floor looks new again!

I am just an ok house keeper. I like it clean but oh other things call my name and I forget all about cleaning. sigh....

I have been trying to use up food and not throw out so much.

We are also eating out of the freezer more. I have a had a horrid issue with buying to many groceries and then we don't get to them all. Some ended up in the freezer and we never get back to them.

I will say I have done pretty well and have been pretty creative 

and my wallet is happier for it.

winter fatigue...

We have been cold and snowy this past week.

Pond Hockey was held on the lake this weekend.

It brings lots of people to the area. When they started the games 

on Friday it was minus 3 but it did warm up to the 30's by Sunday.

Down the lake there is an air strip that is used by lots of planes.

Very cool.

We have had more snow than I care for and way more cold than any winter needs brrr ,minus 14 on my way to work on Monday.

The good news is the ground hog didn't see his shadow so an early spring is on the way I hope...
