Chinese New Year

Also known as Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year. It marks the beginning of spring. I am all for celebrating spring even if it is not here yet for us.
There are a lot of superstitions related to Chinese New Year. Don't sweep or use scissors, break dishes or wear black and white. There are many more but mostly related to money in the New Year.
I have been working on my stitching piece.
Having a friend who thrifts is pretty wonderful. A bag of thread for 2.50!
My wonderful grand asked to stay over this weekend. I am so thrilled I can't stand it lol. But I had to do a clean-up of the craft room as that is her favorite place in the house. I had this mat in my cupboard and never used it but is it perfect as a mat for my painting.
I played cards with husband and beat him! which is very unusual.
I have been wearing my new pj pants that have pockets and sheep. Could you ask for anything more?
               ***************************
I got to snowshoe with my sweet friend on Sunday and then we went to lunch. The skies were a robin's egg blue, and it was in the 30s it was a perfect day.
Husband had his first appointment after surgery, and it went well.
      Have a wonderful week!

Love that is the year of the horse, which I mentioned in a blog recently. I believe I have a pair of pj's in that same print. And if memory serves me, mine has a knit cuff at the bottom.

How fun that Miss B is coming for a stay-over! I'll look forward to wat you two conjure up in that wonderful craft room of yours. Your stitchery looks like it is coming along beautifully. This winter, like others, I find I'm getting none of the "play" time I thought there would be. I adore your sheepy jammies! We've had some amazingly temperate weather here. We're to get some precipitation tomorrow but I don't think anything major.

I also love that this is the year of the horse. I am afraid that I did sweep and use scissors on the Chinese New Year. :/ Love your stitching.

We enjoyed lunch at a favorite Chinese restaurant yesterday so that's how we celebrated. ENjoy the upcoming granddaughter visit as I know you well. Thrift finds are wonderful and today I bought an LL Bean jacket with a removable fleece liner for half price ($4) at a local thrift store. Glad to read that your husband's follow-up appointment went well.

Visit with granddaughters from Buffalo is going well. Today was the Montshire Science Museum. Monday was the Aquatic Center in Hartford with daughter and other two grands. Dan and I couldn't have handled it without them. Thursday is home school day with oldest grand and visiting 8 yr old will join us. Dan will take 4 yr old to library and storytime. Friday Dan has hand surgery at APD out patient.

Good news about hubby. I haven’t been snowshoeing in years! Hubby doesn’t enjoy it any more. I need a friend who likes it too.

When my son was a missionary for our church in Tawain, he really dreaded the Chinese New Year as it was so noisy and crazy! I'm happy hubby had a good post op visit and prayers for continued healing. I hope you have a really fun time with your wonderful granddaughter! Love the PJ"s BTW!

Pockets and sheep. That's a hoot. Love that. Sounds like you had a great time. Stitching looks fun. Really glad about your husband and it going well. You sound lighter and happy in this post. Wonderful news!

Your pj's with the sheep are delightful, love those. Chinese New Year....I don't celebrate it, but Chinese food I love! I've always thought stitching was a talent. Would love to see your project when it's finished. I can see why your craft room is your grand's favorite place in the house. It's colorful, creative, and artistic. ; )

I like that you repurposed your mat for a painting mat. I ended up buying a thing one that you can slide your chair over on the floor (I don't know what they are called). It's small for an office but perfect for art!
