I have been fretting about this surgery. So a friend knit this amazing scarf and sent it to me. She said it was a hug from her. And a book she just finished.
While in the surgical waiting room I struck up a conversation with a woman next to me. After hearing of her husband's health issues. I said a prayer of thanks for my husband's issues. Was it by chance she sat next to me or the universe giving me perspective?
I was asked for my soup recipe. So sorry I am a fly by the seat of my pants cook, no recipe. I did make some stock with the chicken bones.
I gave my house plants some food. They are looking great. My bay leaf plant. Great for soups.
We mis-judged how much wood to bring in so I have been working on that. A cold snap coming again this weekend.

I have been asked about cleaning my hooked rugs in the snow. You can do sweaters, quilts what have you. Throw in clean snow, then cover over with snow. I use a broom with my rugs but if clothing rub lightly with your hand turn over do the same. Shake out well. They will be damp-ish hang to dry. Hope that helps.

Sorry about the long post. Thanks for getting to here♡

That's how I clean my little antique and fragile booked rug. Just flop it down several times on fresh snow.
Sending wishes for a speedy recovery to your husband!
Glad the surgery is done. I think you were put in that womans path for a reason. I have a niece that had to have numerous Cranial/facial surgeries as an infant and child. My sister said she met so many people throughout that process that really touched her and also made her realize how many people are going through tough times.
I'm glad your husband will be OK, even if it didn't go quite as planned. As long as he's OK. And what a lovely friend. I never would have thought of washing the rug in snow!
You have good friends who watch out for your, that's fantastic. Sending healing thoughts for your husband. And when I'm encountering health issues I always am reminded of "I cried because I had no shoes and then saw a man with no feet". Sure does put everything in perspective.
Am quite sure I'll need to buy another few hundred gallons of propane before this winter is over. It has been a really COLD one.
Even if it didn't go as planned, good to know it will be okay for him. Thanks for the info on using snow to clean sweaters and such. Now when will it snow again. Can't use what's out there now, can I?
I'm so glad your hubby is home and prayers for a complete recovery. We've gone through a lot of wood this year. I'm hoping that we can get through with what we have left until it gets warmer. Our sweet son left work early today to come and split more wood for us to make sure we're ready for the snow on Friday and cold over the weekend. My hubby hasn't gotten over that virus from New Year's Day! Finally went to the doctor and he has bilateral ear infections and a bad sinus infection. Hopefully the antibiotic gets him back on his feet! Thanks for the info on snow rug cleaning! I'm going to try it. Might as well make use of all that snow out there! I hope you have a good weekend Cathy,
So happy to hear hubby is home from surgery.
Here’s to a speedy recovery.
xoxo ♥️
Hoping your husband has a speedy recovery now. The scarf is so pretty. We are almost out of wood and February is usually colder here...today it was -1 actual when I drove to work. Brrr. Janice
I'm glad the surgery is behind you both and hoping recovery is quick and smooth. I just had my 3 propane tanks filled all at once...the bill hasn't arrived yet and I certainly CAN wait...gulp. I read that book this fall right after it came out I think. That first photo is gorgeous....Looks surreal.
I hope your husband makes a good recovery from his surgery. You must both be relieved that it's done.
My soups don't have recipes either. I work with what's in the pantry and the fridge.
That was such a nice gift from your friend! Yes, I don't believe in coincidences - she shared with you what you needed to hear when you needed it. Prayers for your husband for speedy recovery. I love bone broth - so good for us.
i hope your husband is on the mend and doing well. i find knitters to be a very kind group of people...all cut from the same cloth. the scarf is so pretty, i like the color choices. loved the first picture and that you "fly by the seat of your pants"!
Hope your hubby is recovering well.
Glad the surgery is done. That your husband is home. That he is okay!
I am so glad to hear your husband is ok after his surgery. I hope you can both rest now while he heals. Stay warm!
Although it was disappointing to read your comment that “things didn’t go as planned” for your husband’s surgery, you must both be relieved it’s done and that he is home. Time for more jigsaw puzzle solving. I buy dried buy leaves and never saw a live plant in anyone’s home. It must come in very handy for soup making which you do often.
I hope your husband heals quickly from his surgery. What a pretty sunrise. My neighbors were just out there working on getting more wood for their fireplace, as it gets pretty cold up here. I always enjoy your posts - they are a little of this and that, which are often my favorite ones. Have a peaceful weekend. : )
I am glad to hear that your husband is doing well and prays that he continues to heal. I should get my rugs out and get them in the snow, we got a lot today, but the cold and wind makes it impossible to be outside.
I love that your friend sent you a hug scarf.
