Thanksgiving Eve

We can now see the sunrises with the leaves off  the trees and the position of the sun.

A friend of mine showed me her solar star lights she put on her outside tree. Well monkey see monkey do! I ordered a couple of strings. Well the first string got so tangled it took forever to untangle them. But I do love them.

And the 2nd set I put on a small tree we have. I learned a lesson about how to not tangle this string. But still not that easy to work with.

I also made a small batch focaccia bread. And boy did it come out good! Husband wants this tomorrow instead of rolls.
We are tucked in watching White Christmas tonight.
And speaking of white Christmas.....

We are waiting for snow tomorrow 5 to 9 inches.
We are home so no travel issues.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Hugs
Cathy

And Just Like That!

All the leaves have blown away and the blustery cold has settled in.

Saturday a friend and I headed to a couple of church sales.
A Swedish angel candle.

An April Cornell dish towel.

              A hand painted sign
And a candy turkey for sweet B.
I left so much behind I would have liked but I am really trying to not add things. And I dropped a bag off at the thrift store on the way by.
We are tucked in all toasty. We both are putting on pjs earlier and earlier these dark nights.

Still Decorating

I always keep puff pastry in the freezer. Tonight I had pulled some of the pork pie filling left over from the other week I had in the freezer. I used the puff pastry in a cupcake tin and filled it with the pre cooked filling voila dinner! I was thinking that if you had any leftover meatloaf that would be good also. I added some green beans and some mashed cauliflower to go with it.

I am on an oatmeal kick lately. I make it the night before and heat it the next morning it is so good. I love being the first one up and just sitting in the quiet it is a beautiful way to start the day.

And the decorating goes on and on. I wish I had a before picture, this is an iron trellis I wired greens on it. I stuck it in the metal flower pot. I have solar star lights on order. We are having high winds tonight lets see if it holds together yikes!

My village is up and as you can see santa is very happy about it kissing Mrs Claus.

Here are the Christmas movies we have, the classic collection has
Barbara Stanwyck in Christmas in Connecticut one of my favorites.
A few others I like are:
Holiday Affair
Scrooge the 1931 version
Charlie Brown Christmas
A Christmas Story
The Family Man
Meet Me in St. Louis
I hope you find something in there that you can enjoy.
***
I spent the a big part of the day weeding out some Christmas stuff I no longer wanted and set some things aside that I plan on selling.
I need to down size big time I have a Christmas problem.

The email problem corrected itself for about 5 minutes and back to no reply. Stay with me I am doing the best I can.

"Humbug I Tell You"

Full moon was so beautiful this past week.

I took a walk to try to see it better. Things are so quiet here especially after dark.

Sat I went out and about with my dear long time friend.
We shopped a couple of thrifts and a church sale.
This is perfect for my halloween dress up each year.

It is a reproduction but it is thick and heavy cotton. I have one kind of like it. I have had it for over 30 years. So for 5.00 perfect.

When we replaced this kitchen window we took down my vintage shutters I had up, well years later I got them out of the shed vacuumed and washed them. Husband put them up for me. I had forgotten how much I love them.

Husband is on the mend thankfully. I had some blueberries to use up and husband loves blueberry muffins.

I had just over a tablespoon of this left over so I put it in the batter.
Yummmmmmmm It was a good move! I use this jam for a lot of things. I warm it up and put it over vanilla ice cream too among other things.

As most of you know I have been decorating for Christmas like a mad woman. Well in my down time I have been watching old christmas movies. This is from 1931 and I think the best one. I love this story. I have a whole stack of movies I must watch over the holiday. I will list them if anyone is interested.

We have an ongoing chat on messenger with 4 of us. It is close friendships, we talk every day and some days several times a day.
Well today we each were doing something Christmassy lol.
They are a creative bunch.
Have a wonderful Week
Oh no humbug here!

The Spiders Behind The Clock

I dyed some wool. The bottom color was what I started with. It looks pink but it was more brown. I dyed the greens by adding them to the pot at different times.

I made some bread this week for my friendsgiving but sadly
I was not able to go, Husband had a bout of something I did not want to spread it around he seems better. of the 13 of us only 7 came mostly because of illness. (thankfully I am still fine)

We have had some very cold mornings but this rose bush is still going! It is in a very sheltered place but it will get the frost sooner than later. So I will enjoy it while I can.
I made a wreath.

And filled my wooden piece with greens and a bow for the door.

I decorated the kitchen window.
And put all the candles in the windows.

I needed some time out of the house so I paid our property taxes. Got caught up on the town gossip. Gotta love small towns.
Then off to the thrift store. I got a pair of suede boots that still had the tags for 7.00, a lulu B linen jacket which my friend looked up and they sell for 99.00 so for 7.00 a deal. I also got a couple of other long sleeve shirts. A worthwhile trip.

Because I am decorating early for Christmas I am also cleaning as I go. I pulled out this grandfather clock my husband made and there were 3 spiders who had made 3 cozy little webs behind it.
They were just the leggy small ones so out they went.

I am working on a few presents I make for friends and there is baking to do but other than that I am pretty much done shopping.
My daughter and son in law decided a nice evening out together would be our present to each other. Because my son in law is right all we were doing was swapping gift cards. Time with them is better than any gift.

I am still having the same old issue with blogger so sorry if I didn't get back to you. I am sending them a message daily.
Have a wonderful weekend

Foraging

I was gifted this cactus and had no idea what kind it was.
I guess fall?? But it sure is pretty.

Another trip to the thrift store.
A bag of DMC thread that I will share with my grand.

A magnifying glass that I think is to small.

The sweet basket was 50 cents not sure what I will use it for.
A wonderful bag of buttons. I plan on changing out some buttons on some of my clothes to give them a more upscale look.

I did a nice long walk and came home to head into the woods to get some cuttings for decorating. Let me tell you my legs are screaming now from how tired they are. Walking on all the acorns is like walking on marbles in the woods.

I filled a couple of my pots before the soil freezes. I also have some left over to make some roping and maybe a wreath. The good news is if I run out I have lots of woods to explore.

This is the shawl directions. It is by Mia Welander @ regnmia so please if you knit or post this give her credit. I think if you click on it you should be able to read it.

I have so much to be thankful for the list is long.

Tonight I am roasting chicken breasts, potatoes and acorn squash. Yumm
The weather has turned colder and rain is due tonight. We need the rain but the snow can wait. I am a bit busy week ahead,
yoga tomorrow, a trip to the Dr Tue, (just a yearly check up)
and Wed my women's group Thanksgiving. My most favorite gathering of the year. I am not hosting, we all bring a piece of the grand dinner and then share. It is so fabulous!!! There will be about 12 of us, I am bringing the mashed potatoes and homemade rolls.
Have a wonderful week!

What I Bought

A not a very good picture of my rug. I still have work to do. I need to work on the deer antlers, change the sky color, and figure out the tree.

What I bought last Sat at the holiday open house.
This santa is a thick paper and is filled with balsam. Crazy I know but I love him.

This stitching kit. We call our grand sweet B so I thought of her.
And some rusty mini bells.

Wool thread and a piece of linen.

Oh save me from myself! I bought a rug pattern. I have enough patterns I will never get through them all. But this kept singing to me each time I passed it.
Today another beautiful day in the 70s. I went for a nice long walk and did a couple of loads of laundry and then made my first pork pie of the season (Tourtiere in the French Canadian world) The pork pie has as many recipes as there are families. Every family has their own spin on it. This is my husband's mother's recipe, I did not grown up eating pork pie. We were English, I ate mincemeat and really good fruit cake at the holidays.

Ok on to the last of the rugs at the rug show.

The loon and the fish rugs are my favorites.
***
I finished stitching my christmas tree. I need to cut it out and bind it and fill it with balsam.
I am still working on my sweater and hooking on my rug PHEW!
And I have not touched the applique quilt. There was a conversation yesterday at my hooking class, we were talking about hobbies. We are all grateful for them and talked about the wonderful friends we have made through our hobbies and the fun we have had.

I bought these at Aldi's this week. If you have one near you run don't walk to get a pk of these. I am not huge on store bought cookies but oh these. If you like gingerbread cookies these are the best!Thin and crispy, dip them in your tea perfect!

I hope you are taking care of you.
HUGS!
