It is maple syrup month in NH, how sweet it is!
Did you know you have to boil down approximately 40 gallons of sap to get 1 gallon of syrup? So the next time you see the price of real maple syrup and then grab for the fake stuff remember that and step away from fake.
So I again was looking through things this week and found this very interesting.
People twigs as found in the wild. I think it is a fun thing to look for when hiking or just a casual walk.
I got the chance to see my sweet friend this weekend.
She has a lovely home at a Maine beach and offered an over night.
Because of the time change I got up and saw the sun rise over the ocean.
There is a public walk along the water. The color of the water was spectacular, more like topical water, not the usual color of the very cold water on the Maine coast.
My friend and I have both had our vaccines more than two weeks ago so we felt very comfortable with being together in the same house.
As you can see it is still cold on the coast. There she is sea glass hunting.
A very interesting tree they have it braced to not fall over.
I also got to see my 97 year old aunt for the first time in year. She also has had both vaccines. It was so good to see her again!!!
I also got to see my Roomie!!!! We kept our distance as she is due for her second vaccine so we wanted to be safe. You can find her HERE.
Well I am home and it is windy and we are having snow squalls.
Husband has the fireplace going, PJ time and maybe a cup of tea.

We wouldn't dare buy fake maple syrup. The fake stuff doesn't come close to real maple syrup. We've visited a maple sugar bush where they boil the sap and it's a lot of work. I've heard that people have to guard their maple saps as thieves steal them.
I'm glad you had a great time with your friend. Those stick people are the cutest thing I've seen. I'm having fun just thinking of their expressions and what they are saying. lol...
On Monday, it will be 5 days to spring. Yay!

What a nice place to spend the day, I missed all the beautiful weather this week, so hopefully after Bill's first visit we can start getting out again.

That is a most intriguing fact about Maple Syrup and certainly explains the cost of the real thing. As in most things in life, quality has to be paid for and, in our view, better to have less than more of the cheaper alternatives. It never works out well in the end.
And, what fun your stick people are. They looked like semaphore signals to us, and interesting to see so much variety.
How lovely to walk along the beach and breathe in the sea air. We miss the coast very much. And, how lucky to be fully vaccinated since it does give a reassuring feel in the company of others. Meanwhile, in Hungary, we continue to wait....
It is maple syrup time here as well. Our neighbors tap dozens of trees, she told me last night the sap is running good. I'm glad you were able to visit with friends and family.
Maple syrup is SOOOO much better than the fake stuff, even if the price does make my eye twitch. Worth every penny though, as unlike vanilla, even in baked/cooked goods you can still taste the difference. I just wish DH didn't dump it on like he does the fake stuff :-O Once while out pruning the maples when they were little, curiosity got the better of me, and as a bit of sap ran, I took a taste. It was tasty right out of the tree, not nearly as intense as the final syrup. Thank you to whoever tried the sap so long ago, and to whoever decided to cook it to a syrup. They made the world a bit better.

Bet that trip to visit friends and family boosted your spirit big time and recharged to tackle the world again. I have all sorts of twigs and limbs laying in the yard from winds but never noticed if they look like stick people. Another walkabout is due to pick up more so guess I'll look at them with more interest now than irritation, lol.
It's maple syrup time here too. We usually have a festival but of course not this year. We have a friend who taps and makes his own syrup and usually gifts us some...soooo good! I love your beach shots and Maine is one of my hope to get too places soon. We have a friend that lives in Bath and would love to stop and say hello to them. I hope you have a great week. Congratulations on getting out and about and back to some happy normalcy! :-) Once I tried real maple syrup, it was impossible to go back to the fake stuff... my tastebuds wouldn't let me! lol!
I love those people twigs. Looks like they are doing an interpretive dance: Winds I Have Known. The vaccine is so freeing. Maybe things will be back to normal or near-normal quickly now, or at least that's my hope and my prayer.
What great little stick figures! Fresh maple syrup! Yum! It requires quite a process, though. How great to have some time away!

Ok, so I will never look at a twig without seeing a person from now on. Like I needed another strange and distracting habit LOL. It will be a fun hobby for you and Miss B. I sure hope those twigs behave. 😉 It is syruping season here too. I did not even know they made fake syrup until I went to college. It took me the longest time why the stuff I bought, no matter the brand, did not taste like the syrup I knew. And, oh that ocean!! It does look like tropical waters....but I can also imagine the shocking cold of that mistake. It has been far too long since I have smelled the ocean or sea! I am happy for you that you got out on a little holiday. We all need friend time. ~Robin~ (Snowing here too....)

We are not that far with the vaccination ... unfortunately ... and it is snowing today. No, we didn't want that - but it looks nice and the birds come from the forest to the bird feeder. Warm regards to you. Viola
It's so nice that you were able to spend time with a friend and then to see your aunt as well. The stick figures were charming too and what a fun thing to look for while on a walk.
Oh the beach, now there you have the other side of my heart. Looking for sea glass and seashells, I could easily be a beach bum. The twig people are a "version" of the what do you see in the clouds, you are very keen to spot these and see people. I love it.
One more thing, have you visited Kate at the last homely house? She just finished up a hooking project, I can't remember what she called it, she lives in England and they have a name for it. You can find her on You Tube, she is delightful. She quilts, and gardens, and all sort of lovely things.
