Berry Berry Good

The free concert in the park was amazing! Big band sound!
We enjoyed it so much.
The beginning of last week was lovely warm and breezy. We were able to have our first fire. And then it got hot again.
We had our daughter and family over Friday for dinner and some friends in Sunday for dinner both very fun.

Sunday we decided to go to a pick your own blueberry patch.
That is husband with a bucket around his neck.

And it was loaded. We have been going to a pond to pick but there are so many pickers now it is hard to get some.

like most places in this area it comes with a view.

But we were very excited pickers and picked a bit to much. 8 quarts!!! lots of blueberry goodies coming our way this winter I think.

I had a bout of stomach problems (nothing anyone can catch) and I am on meds that make me feel icky but this too shall pass.
It is thundering now but there is a nice cool breeze billowing through the curtains ( sweet relief)
Have a wonderful week.

Au Natural....

There is a beautiful barn...
Down a sweet dirt lane...

That was beautiful both front and back..

With an amazing silo....

With windows that tilted in....

That has an amazing woolery...

That holds the fleece and yarn made from the sheep in the fields...

That hosted an all natural dye weekend. All of these colors come from nature. And since I was the only hooker I dyed some of my wool fabric too! Can you believe these colors come from plants?

There were spinners and drop spindle demonstrations.

Needle felting too. It was such a wonderful weekend the only issue it was hotter than the hinges to hell!!!! Lord it was hot. So we did fans and lots of water and ice cream. I felt very lucky to invited to join this amazing group of fiber artists.( and yes I had not met these ladies before) I hope to be back next year.
But back at home our grand daughter was not here but those fairies kept building on! Now they have settled right in.

And my gardens have bloomed. This is called Priscilla's garden after my sweet friend who passed away a few years ago. All the plants and hens and chicks came from her garden over the years.

Tonight we headed to the lake got a table and watched the boats and listened to the band.
We even got to see the big one come and go.

First time for clams this summer and they were very good!
I am tired and hot and sticky I am headed for a cold shower and the only place that has air conditioning in the house (our bedroom)
I do not do well with the heat so I will be more than glad when it passes.
Have a wonderful week!

High On A Mountain Top

We had a very busy week but lots of fun too!
Monday after work we packed a dinner and hiked up
a smaller mountain. It took us about 45 minutes.

Husband enjoying the view. It was a lovely night with a cool breeze at the top.

Dessert was a little dove bar with just the right saying.

The reason for the hike? The NH music festival had a few musicians who made the hike and played till sundown. A lovely way to spend the evening.

Wed after dinner we went to concert on the common to see the Beatles!!! Truly they sounded and looked just like them. So fun to dance to the music of our youth.

Sat we picked up our sweet B and had a very fun overnight.
There was a lot a lot of fairy house building going on all over our property. So much fun!!! Then we waited for the night to come.
They came by the hundreds! We had never seen so many fire flies in our yard before. They were bringing the fairies to look at the new houses we built. There is nothing more magical
than a child who believes in faeries.
We used things we had here from sock darners, marbles etc.

We even found a secret fairy door!

Then Sunday morning bright and early we headed to another mountain. Loaded on the ski lift....

To have a brunch with family at the top. This is Cranmore Mt the mountain my sweet B ski's in the winter! Another beautiful day, clear, we could see for miles. Brunch was basic but really tasty and wonderful. Such a fun way to have breakfast and be with family.

So ends another busy week week. Back to work tomorrow but I am very thankful for this past week and all the fun.
Have a wonderful week.

Forest Bathing...

Forest Bathing is the healing way of Shinrin-yoku which means taking in the forest atmosphere.

It is not a new idea the naturalist John Muir quotes' are full,
" climb the mountains and get their good tidings"
But now there is a lot of  research saying it can make a positive impact
on your health, from your blood pressure to your mental health.

I walk everyday on a shady dirt road and today we headed out for our first paddle of the summer. As soon as we got on the water the loons greeted us and were showing off their new tiny little baby.

It was so good for the soul!
There are lots of books on this subject and while it sounds new age there is nothing new about it. If at all possible take a nice slow walk in the woods (or a paddle)

I hope your fourth was a nice one. We have a little town celebration and this year was an apple pie contest. I got out of work at three and had to drop the pie off by 6:30 and it was HOT! I made an effort and my crust cracked but husband talked me into putting them in anyway (you had to bake 2) and I won second place!!!
Thanks to my husband for being my biggest cheerleader!!!

We have had some warm night so we sit on the porch and play cards. One of our favorite things to do. We keep the lights as dim as we can so we can watch the fireflies in the yard at night while we are out there.

Sat we headed to Maine for a family cookout. It was the day of the support rally for the 7 motorcycle riders that were killed. As you can see what a turn out! They felt 3000 plus made the trip to that tiny little town and the memorial. A wonderful fund raiser also for the families left behind.

I won a book a couple of weeks ago from Karen, at Crow's foot farm. This is the sweetest book and great ideas. So happy to have won it.

And speaking of books I have been cleaning out closets and drawers and taking things to the thrift store. The lady who runs the thrift store has the same taste in books as I do. So she passed this on. It is a fictional account of Christina in the painting by Andrew Wyeth.
He was a Maine painter and I have known that painting most of my life. It was a great book and a good summer read.

Well back to work tomorrow we have a couple of things we want to do this week and the weather looks good.
Have a great week!
