Sleep....I wish I could

Early Sat morning a friend and I took a hike..

and when you got to the top there were chairs to rest your weary bones..

After I got home I raked some more and walked around the gardens finally, finally we are starting to see spring. We have been so cold and so rainy and our winter was soooo long I thought the spring flowers forgot to bloom.

But they are and it does the soul good to see them.

They wave at me in the breeze to let me know they are there...

I am so thankful they are blooming it gives me hope for the summer.

The birds are back the fickle little things. Most of the winter we didn't have many now all colors and sizes!

I have done a bit of thrifting but I am trying so hard to keep it to a minimum. Who could pass up these child size hand thrown pottery pieces for .50 each! sweet on a windowsill.

I got 6 new shades for my light in the dining room the ones I had were old and darker. 6/3.00 deal.

I have had the worst time sleeping. It is starting to affect a lot.
I have tried everything dark room, meditating, aroma therapy, no chocolate, coffee etc after noon time, I drink sleepy tea, or hot water and lemon. So I walk, I walk, and walk, and walk to tire myself out and if I don't walk, I eat to try and keep the energy up! The weight I have lost is slowly creeping on. I have taken sleeping pills and benadryl but I feel so crappy the next day it is not worth it for me. Yesterday I was up and out early, I hiked came home and raked and then took a short walk I was beat. A nice shower and I went to bed and fell asleep right away. I wake up, it is still dark but I think it has to be 4 or 4:30 nope 12:15 I was in bed at 10:30. So now I am awake! I do nod off now and then for no more than 15 minutes at a time. I got so sick of it I was up at 5:30. So today I walked I sure hope this turns around soon.

We are in for a cold wet week this week so not much going on.
Have a wonderful week!

I go thru times when I'm awake many hours during the night. Those nights it is when my brain just won't shut off. Most times it is because there are household maintenance haunting me, de-cluttering needed, etc.

Then the following night I usually sleep like a log because my body and brain are exhausted. Hopefully your body will catch up.

I have had nights like that but reading in bed usually makes my eyes so heavy that I soon fall asleep.
Lovely new thrift finds.
Hugs, Julia

I have been waking up for over 35 years at 3:30 am. I think working shift work all my life plus age has caused this. I don't fight it - just makes me more agitated. Instead, I relax, read a book or wash the dishes or do the laundry or rug hook! At about 5:45 am, I fall into a dead sleep until 7 am and am good to go the rest of the day. Just the way my body works. Why fight it. Am 73 now and it hasn't harmed me yet.

Bob has been getting up at all hours of the night. He cannot sleep either. I hope you are able to find a way to get a goods night rest. Hope you also had a nice Mother's Day. Janice

I go through spurts of insomnia. Sometimes I get only 1-2hrs of sleep before having to go to work. Then I'm dead tired by the next afternoon. Thankfully that only happens occasionally. I hope you can figure out the solution. If I didn't have to get up at 5:15 for work I wouldn't care so much about it! Glad spring has found you!

Those little rock chairs are awesome!
About the sleep...I did a lot of research on nutrition and sleep...sometimes if you are deficient in something it effects your sleep. What I found that works for me is Vitamin D3 in the morning (for energy and better mood... with it being winter and in the NE, folks usually run low on this stuff)....and then some Magnesium Citrate (tablet) after dinner...this helps with sleep. Sometimes it could be iron deficiency as well...but don't supplement iron without doctor first checking your blood levels...
Anyways....that's what works for me...you decide if it is right for you...

So sorry to hear about your sleeping troubles. I hope it gets better soon.
I am sure you are happy spring is finally showing up. It was a very long winter, for sure. Flowers do the heart good 😊
