The Baker River

Husband and I have wanted to do a couple of rivers in our area.
We charted a smaller 2.5 mile paddle and in we go.
This is a corn field by where we set in the kayaks

The covered bridge we set in next to to get started ohhh we were excited

We started out great  we saw a fox, a couple of turtles, and some ducks playing in the water. But it all went downhill from there. Because the water level was so low we scraped bottom or just plain stopped. We got to little rapids, I got hung up and then all of a sudden I was going down backwards to say I screamed would be an under statement. I got it turned around and got down safely. It was a 2 1/2 mile paddle that was suppose to take 1 1/2 hours ours took 3....

To say we were tired by the time we pulled kayaks out at the end would be a huge understatement.  We will do the pemi next but we will make sure there is plenty of water....
Have a great week....

I'm sure you would have heard me screaming if I had gone down the rapids backwards! I hope your next paddling adventure is calmer

Lots of areas on the Pemi that are shallow and deep so hopefully it will be fine in the area you paddle.
I have been using my little kayak, it goes over a few inches of water so great for putting around in the coves.
Not sure if we will get to kayak unless we rent or buy a double, so Bean has a seat, lol. We may try a rental on the saco, that way we will know if he can sit still that long;)
