I had some time to redo a lamp shade I have had for awhile. When I go to a yard sale I always check out the free box. I found this lamp shade in bad shape mildew etc. But I liked the shape of the shade so I took it home for a redo. You will need ribbon or I am using a seam binding I bought at another yard sale for 50 cents and you know I got the glue gun at a yard sale:) but you can use a quick drying glue or you can sew the starter piece to the frame. Just start with removing everything on the frame so you only have the wire frame left.
Then start winding the ribbon or seam binding around and around the frame. I over lapped by each time around by half to avoid any gaps.Until you have covered the entire frame I use a spot of glue to end the piece on the inside of the shade so you can't see where it starts or ends. Better right? Well I thought it needed a little something.
So I added the buttons to the bottom, again you can use glue or sew them in place. And it sits on a lamp I got at the dump and rewired. So total for this floor lamp I have about 3.00 invested.
I am joining House in the Roses and Met Monday I hope you will take time to visit.
We got to kayak again this weekend and tried a different pond. as we were just getting into the pond I spotted these guys sunning themselves on a nice warm rock, little painted turtles.
I hope your weekend was a good one. The heat finally broke and it was so beautiful today. I have so much to share with you. Amazing dump gifts, yard sale finds, and one thing I have looked for a long time but I will save it for another day. Have a great week my sweet friends. I am closing with a quote to make you think.
In times like these,it helps to recall that there have always been times like these......Paul Harvey

Now how cute is that lampshade! and only three dollars invested, you go girl! Finally the cool air has arrived at Dog Trot Farm, I now am a happy camper! Hope your husband is doing well, glad to hear you both we able to go out on the lake. Stay cool, have a great week, Julie.
Hey, that's great! I can use this technique to re-do a very dark shade I have. Love the turtles!
Great job on the lamp shade. When I doubled clicked to see the turtles on the rock your photo looked like a gorgeous water color painting. Make sure you go back and check it out. It looks like it would make beautiful note cards.
This is such a neat and easy idea. I have two matching lamps in my bedroom that I could use this technique on.
I'm glad your heat has broken and you had such a great day on the water.
I look forward to seeing all the goodies you found soon!
Love the new look shade Cathy, what a great job! Such pretty fabric.
The painted turtles look amazing, it must be a very peaceful spot.
Thank you for you visit and comments, The hedgehog seems to understand that Sid's just curious, though I'm pretty sure Sid must have tangled with one in her youth and knows what prickly customers they are!
Hope your week goes well.
Best wishes to you both.

Clever about the lampshade! I have one here I should redo so thanks for the inspiration! :-) It's true about that quote... everyone always thinks they have it worse than the last guy... though they really don't... you have a great week too! Enjoy the pleasant weather!
Wow! I love this little lampshade redo! I have a couple that I'd like to do. I'm curious about the dump and thrift finds. I need to scout out those types of places here in my neck of the woods! Love the turtles!
Hugs,
Courtney

Great lampshade idea! Looks wonderful. There are a few around here that could use this technique. Thanks for the comment this morning...I thought you'd be proud of our adventure this past Saturday. I'm inspired to try it again!
I love Paul Harvey . Your lampshade is great and what a nice weekend you had. blessing Cheri
Nice job on the lamp shade and a great way to use some old buttons...kayaking sounds lovely especially since it was so hot. The heat broke over the weekend but it forgot to take the humidity with it...I loved listening to Paul Harvey. I miss his common sense approach to life.
